MEGAN HARVELLE | Apocalypse AU

"It has now been seven years since that bastard Archangel Michael sought to take over the world. Unfortunately, he was successful in that attempt.
Whatever humans were left from the War were divided into factions. Michael’s way of keeping us humans “in line” so that he would have “perfection” and rebellion or free will would be abolished.
However, the joke is on him. Yes. He was successful in killing Sam and Dean. And yes. Large numbers of us hunters were exterminated — but we are still here and what they stood for. Died for? Still lives on. Free Will.”
"I cannot believe it’s been a whole year since Cade was taken. I have worked so hard to figure out technology wise to see if I could hack into the Faction system ? But damn it. Whoever Michael hired to be his tech team are highly advanced even for me. On top of this? The city of Chicago is also highly secured even for Cyrus.
So, I’m here with the rest of the hunters while Cade is there… with those tyrannical angels and human puppets of theirs. I know he’ll be okay. He’s a Winchester after all. Something that I hope Michael wasn’t able to find out. But yes, diary. I have great faith in him. It’s just… well… I hate to admit this but I miss him.
Sure. Before the war and everything? We were just acquaintances and had family that knew and worked with each other on cases. And well? We clearly annoyed one another. But over time especially after he lost his father and uncle? And I lost my grandparents, my Uncle Ash and my own parents? We found a way to bury the hatchet so to speak and bonded over trauma.
Yeah yeah. I know. Don’t give me that look. Bonding over trauma isn’t exactly storybook friendship and it might be unhealthy? But hey. We’re hunters. When is life ever storybook perfect? Anyway, we had slowly started to get to know one another and truthfully? I found myself enjoying his company.
If we weren’t practicing our hunting skills? We told stories about our families and even — prepare yourself? We actually made each other laugh. Being with Cade helped make my world less empty and made me feel less alone.
But now we are apart and I cannot help but hate Michael more for inflicting more pain and suffering by taking away the one person I considered my safe space. Then to make matters worse? Keep him behind 'lock and key’ so to speak.
Fuck. Why am I crying right now. Okay Harvelle. Get yourself together, damn it!”
“Castiel appeared to us. Apparently he has found a way for us to infiltrate Chicago and take down Michael from the inside. Of course his plan sounds ludicrous! Us? Hunters? Actually become apart of the Faction system??
It took alot of convincing, but all Castiel had to say was that he was sent by Cade? It was enough to sway people to agreeing to this plan.
The first group of us will begin making our way into Chicago — I am apart of that group. Per Cade’s request? I was to be taken to Castiel’s faction — the Abnegation for my protection. I couldn’t help but smile. Even now he was looking out for me. But I know this will not be easy. I am anything but Abnegation — plain clothing. Public servants. Less indulgent in vanity or even food for that matter! I love my clothes. I love looking beautiful and god do I love my seasoned food! Cade Winchester! When I find you? I will give you a good run for your money for making me suffer this way!
But then again? I may not. It will be so good to see him again after being apart for so long. That’s what matters to me. He is safe and we will see each other again.”
“According to Castiel? Cade was sent to be in Michael’s faction— Dauntless. The protectors of Chicago. Adrenaline loving, fast paced, action oriented Dauntless. Of course I could only guess that he was sent there because Michael did find out that he was a Winchester and so would keep him under his watchful eye.”
“I took the test and the results were inconclusive. I am Divergent. I can fit into multiple factions — something that Michael did not want to happen. I let Castiel know as soon as I could. He looked worried but also proud. Divergence is something that Michael wanted to prevent hence the Faction system. But yet? It was a testament to the human spirit — the power of Free Will.
Castiel informs me that my choosing ceremony is tomorrow. He says that I can choose to stay with him in Abnegation and they would figure out another way to save Cade and also bring down Michael? But I already made up my mind. I would choose Dauntless. That’s what my mother would do. She chose to support the Winchesters through it all. And even though she died because of it? She left me a roadmap to follow. Now I see why.
It’s my turn. My turn to give it all I have to protect and support the Winchesters by being there for Cade. But I do not do this out of duty? But because it’s what we have done and continue to do for one another. He is my best friend and I will not allow him to go through this alone.”
