... doesn't do theatre or know much about it himself, but he's always more than happy to support his partner's interests and motivate them in their efforts! Definitely your biggest cheerleader.

He's been told he would be perfect for the stage as your acting partner because of how he wears his heart on his sleeve. However, Rielle doesn't join, saying it reminds him too much of the musical formal recitals he's wrestled into with his brothers back home. It's also difficult for him to remember his lines and to stay focused on the current scene--so that idea's out of the window.

Though you rehearse alone, Rielle gets a lot of joy out of simply watching you engage in your passion. He'll lay on his forearms, observing you and your craft with a starry-eyed expression. It's like the world around him doesn't even register--you are his entire world.

Lets you borrow his whoosits and whatsits treasures to use as props when you practice. He doesn't have a skull for you to hold up during the soliloquy, but maybe the head he excavated from a marble bust will work? And maybe you don't have a working pocket watch, but how about this one with the rusted chain he dug up from the bottom of the ocean?

He's very interested in the musical performances, often humming along, singing, or tapping along to the tune when you flex your vocal folds. When he gets into the groove, Rielle will skip over to you, taking your hands in his, and pull you into a spontaneous dance. "Don't think too hard about it," he laughs when you begin to protest, "Just do what feels right! Your feet will know what to do."

It's important that even the audience members sitting the farthest away can make out your face. Leave your makeup to Rielle, a huge fan of bold colors. He'll get your lashes dark, your cheeks rouged, and your lips painted bright for the spotlight. Occasionally you'll catch him lingering at your mouth, but he's quick to shake himself out of the daze and, flustered, compliment how you look.

Of course he comes to watch you! ... The problem is, he ONLY watches you, even when you're not the focus of the performance or you've wandered off-stage. Rielle completely loses track of the story and other characters. He gets so excited after you've done a show that he'll run up to you right after and hoist you up, spinning you around and around until you're dizzy. Unfortunately, all he can blab about is how much you shone on stage.

Minajael…

... shares an appreciation for the theatrical arts. The overlap in interests is a convenient excuse for him to spend more time with you, right?

You end up landing roles in the same productions. Thing is, Minajael's got the princess roles and you've got the prince roles! He jokes that this isn't what he meant when he said he "didn't want to be a prince", but also teases that he'll be patiently waiting for "his hero" to come and save him.

Sometimes he'll get in a cheeky kiss--on the cheek, nose, forehead, or chin. His explanation? You're playing love interests in the upcoming performance, so he's practicing.

Outside of group rehearsals, you do line readings together and trade feedback. In truth, it's difficult to critique him since Mina seems to be effortlessly perfect at everything--but he encourages you to critique him, and to not hold back. He highly values honesty and keeping routes of communication open between you.

Mina knows you're working hard, so he has to step in and make sure you're taking proper breaks. He'll pop up with a water bottle and some snacks (an apple, maybe some bread), shoving them in your face. "I won't take no for an answer," he informs you. "Someone's gotta make sure you're taking care of yourself."

He collects the playbills for your shows. They may just be pieces of paper (some of which have sustained significant wear and tear, especially around the edges), but they're precious memories for him. You can recall opening up some of his books (you borrow them) and finding old playbills being used as bookmarks.

—To begin with, I don't think Jack's the type to criticize or look down on someone based on their clothing. Despite the era in which he was raised, he's relatively open-minded, able to discern a person's true nature with a glance—see the double meaning—without needing to judge them by what they're wearing.

—Now, compared to the style he's used to seeing, with its modest yet ever-changing silhouettes paired with elaborate accessories and embellishments, he can't help but be fascinated by your fashion choices. It's something new for him to see such vibrant garments that reflect how you want to be seen.

—Jack would study you as if you were a work of modern art, finding in your daily choices a kind of performance to admire from a respectful distance, without wanting to make you uncomfortable. Jack is a man who loves theater, drama, and a good show; your unique style would remind him of Shakespearean characters who enter with presence.

I mean, sure, the hat looks a lil uncomfortable if you know about the ears, but I don’t get why people are complaining about his hair!! Let the man pin it up! I don’t hate the outfit either! I feel like a lot of people in this fandom just complain and whine about most card designs for no reason :/

I do miss his ears too. Must be really inconfortable to wear.

But I saw both, some people who don't like him and some who like it. I personally like it a lot :3. (Not a big fan of the long vest though, it would have been better if it was shorter I think.)

As some people asked and myself, I wonder how his hair fit though...

HC I absolutely love is that his mane reacts to humidity. And he gains volume. In the vignette, he did talk about humidity so I can't help and think about it x).

I’m laughing at the fact that Leona has a voice line that teases about taking the hat off AND he actually takes his hat off during the vignettes (to get his hair done)… yet we don’t get to see it 😭 Those dastardly devs know what they’re doing…

Let them eat cake.

Eating with a king--even one as slovenly as this--is impossible. Leona radiates an unmatched aura, swagger in every stride, his lace jacket trailing behind him like a glorious cape. Even the fedora (an accessory dragged by Ignihyde and the internet) is worn with the same confidence as a crown, the rim of it shading his luminous green gaze and curled bangs.

The instant he enters the room, Leona commands attention and respect. A simple wave of the hand, and his needs are dutifully tended to. Dessert and silverware manifesting like magic, staff servile as they wish him a good meal and skitter away.

What a guy.

“… Speak.”

Leona’s order is smooth and languid, like tempered chocolate coating the tongue. You gasp and take the defensive, wielding your spoon like a sword to parry his blow.

“What makes you think I have something I want to day?”

“You’re staring,” he points out, jabbing his own spoon at you, "and you’ve been staring.”

“Would you kill me if I said it?”

"Just spit it out already. I’m not getting any younger here.”

“Well, it’s nothing major. I was thinking that your hair looks really good, especially after that fancy treatment you had done.”

It's true. Whatever they had done in that barbershop was nothing short of casting an enchantment. You'd witnessed how his tresses, matted from the heat, had transformed into voluminous, shiny umber waves--not that you could tell anymore, not when it was all pulled back.

You gesture to him. “But then why tie it up and cram it all under a hat? It seems like a waste to me. If you’ve got it, then you might as well flaunt it.”

"You're soundin' an awful lot like Vil," Leona snorts. “It’s hot out. If I let my hair down, sweat’ll collect and plaster it to my skin. It’s the worst feeling.”

“We’re in an air-conditioned pâtissière, Leona.”

He arches a brow and takes an indignant bite of his jelly. "And? What's your point?"

“It’d be completely fine to let your hair down now. Besides, didn't you once tell me that lion beastmen take pride in managing their manes?" you say with a huff. "You're the most prideful guy I know. I didn't think you'd be so shy about showing off."

"Hah! Is that supposed to be a compliment? Pride and shyness has got nothing to do with it."

His sharp laugh quickly dissipates, replaced by a solemness seeping into his expression. Lowering his head, he runs fingers along the brim of his hat. His face is unreadable from where you're sitting.

"Some things aren't destined to see the light of day," he murmurs. "They're forever trapped in the shadows."

Your chest tightens. You don't know the true meaning behind those words, but they fill you with an immense sadness all the same.

You can see it now.

There's a lion cub tucked behind a column, listening in on the advisors bathed in the sun. Hidden, but forced to bear witness to the truth. One throne, one king. The other, banished to the dark

You abruptly rise from your seat. The cutlery rattles, the jelly shakes. But Leona does not move.

"... You're brooding again. That's not allowed on your special day."

And then it happens in a flash. Your hands, reaching for his hat and snatching it clean off. The hairband, following soon after. His mane tumbles past his shoulders, free at last.

Exposed to the waiting day.

"There!" you declare triumphantly, ruffling his head. When you pull away, his hair sticks up. "Much better."

"You'd be dead meat if I wasn't so gracious," Leona glowers, smoothing his mane back down. (Translation: You're lucky I like you.) His fluffy ears twitch in irritation, and you have to actively hold yourself back from squealing.

"Alright, alright, Mr. Sunshine," you reply, fitting yourself with the stolen fedora and tipping it. “I thank you for your forgiveness.”

He sighs deeply, but makes no effort to argue. Another spoonful of jelly disappears behind his lips.

Happy birthday, Leona. Maybe you’re not fully comfortable with it yet, but… One day, you’ll be where the light touches.

Crowley explains that as the Dark Mirror is one of NRC's most prized magical artifacts and the Mirror Chamber is strictly off-limits to outsiders regardless of circumstance, with the special exception of Halloween (during which photography is prohibited).

No one is allowed to enter the mirror chamber without Crowley's permission, though the fairies during Fairy Gala manage to steal an important magestone from the chamber seemingly without his knowing.

During Spectral Soiree Crowley explains that breaking the mirror would break the spell that was cast over the school, but he still asks the students to refrain from smashing it as it is possible the kidnapped students would never return and "the Dark Mirror is EXTREMELY valuable."

We have been told that only those the Dark Mirror recognizes as possessing exceptional magical aptitude can enroll at NRC but it seems that Crowley can overrule this condition, i.e. the prefect and Ortho, neither of whom can use magic (and, from Book 6, Ortho is an official student on his own, independent from Idia, while the prefect is dependent upon Grim).

Crowley describes the Dark Mirror as "beside itself with joy" and "delighted to be regarded wit such respect and care" during Halloween, but Malleus seems unconvinced.

Lilia comments, "Maybe it's too shy to smile without being embarrassed."

Crowley tries to get the Dark Mirror to return to prefect to their home, but the Dark Mirror declares there is no such place. Crowley says that he is "intimately acquainted with the origins of every student" who has ever enrolled at NRC, but the prefect's homeland eludes him.

It seems that things you carry with you when traveling via the Dark Mirror can get "spirited away" if you are not careful.

Crowley recommends that students send any possessions that they absolutely cannot afford to lose by post rather than risk carrying them back.

Vargas explains that magic mirrors come in all kinds, but ones that can identify the nature of your soul are rare. He says he had never even seen one before coming to NRC.

Jamil says that he is skeptical that the Dark Mirror actually selects students based on that at all.

(In the original game the face in the Dark Mirror disappears, but it was left in for EN. EN also had visual issues with the "No Photography" signs during Halloween and Ace's sprite not changing when he was possessed (corrected in an update), so this may have been an EN-exclusive mistake.)

Like, Minajael is literally surrounded by beautiful, high-status women only to think of them as pretentious, annoying and thinking of how to get out of here and then he looks at Yuu, who is straight up personfailure trying show cool trick in front of their first years friends by throwing food in the air and eat it... Only for said food to fall on their face, smudging both their face and clothes, as Ace laughs, Deuce looking in concern and Minajael be like: Ah yes. Radiant seven I want this one :)

xbjsbwjwkwd It would be kinda funny if he went for someone that’s the complete opposite of the types of women he usually attracts… Someone that’s a messy and a little inept and pathetic in an endearing way. A regular ass, socially awkward person trying to make it through the day.

I don’t necessarily think that Mina is against good looking, competent, or high status women. It’s that he doesn’t trust the intentions of those kinds of women that aggressively approaching him. They’re looking for something to gain out of the relationship, putting on airs to get in his good graces. It’s not genuine, it’s forced and manufactured. That’s not the type of love he’s after.

Mina strikes me as someone who wants to be loved for what he is, stripped bare of the things that make others salivate over him. Take away the money, the brains, the status, the looks, the magic, etc. Look at what is inside, and then choose to accept him as he is, even if he didn’t have a single madol/thaumark or a shred of power to his name. I think that’s what makes Mina so effortless to ship with a Yuu, despite his recency and lack of content in the Twst canon.

Yuu, as a blank slate, is pitched as a practical and down-to-earth everyman, someone able to see value in the things that their peers cannot. For example, they are the only NRC student to realize the value in the Radiant Seven and what they stand for. If anyone can look past Mina’s exterior and to his heart, it’s them. Not only that, but Yuu lives such a humble life in Ramshackle and is pretty ordinary by any accounts (a non-mage, humble, etc.). They have nothing to prove, no desire to hunt down a rich and powerful husband. They’re content just chilling with their besties and being goofy with them. That’s relatable—and, to Mina, someone worth falling in love with. And because “Yuu” can be anyone, so many different permutations of them can exist and work well in this context ^^

I like to imagine that Mina confesses to his RSA buddies that he has a crush on someone and they all get SO hyped that the cool, mature Mina-chan had feelings for someone. Neige and Rielle for sure hold sleepover meetings to gossip and to help Mina develop a plan of attack (ie asking them out)!!! B-But now Mina’s too embarrassed to tell then more…
