What is this AU about?

The SU Fae-U is a reimagining of the Steven Universe story where the “magical” element of gems is replaced with fae. Most gem characters are faeries, changelings, or other related creatures, and Homeworld is replaced by the Courts of Light, ruled by the four Faerie Queens. Or, at least, it was - until the Maiden of Flowers and Thorns bequeathed the entirety of her domain to her changeling son, Steven.

The plot begins with Connie, in the thick of a grueling summer internship, staying with her rich aunt in the big city. On an otherwise innocuous Friday, her encounter with a strange boy years previous rushes back to her when she discovers him again, unconscious and disheveled in the Empire City Botanical Garden. She soon discovers he is a half-fae prince, on the run from the three queens of Faerie. Drawn into the magical and deadly world of fae, Connie becomes a Knight of Flowers and Thorns, vowing to defend her charge from the manipulations of the Empress’s Courts of Light.

Kin definitely can affect gender, especially in mentally ill people who have issues with identifying their gender anyway. But kin cannot equal gender. It just isn’t a thing.

Kin does not mock the trans community. The most common arguments are “kin genders” (explained above) and “nounself pronouns” which were created by nonbinary kin for trans kin. If you aren’t trans, do not use nounself pronouns! They are not yours to use.
