itâs funny how weâre getting to the point in the AI lifespan where you can feel the desperation from tech companies to have you use their AI features. instagram has moved their AI effects to the top of the menu when youâre creating a post for your story, exactly where the draw/edit button used to be. gmail is creating one-click AI-generated replies right before you open up the text box. spotify put a beta AI playlist generator on the front page that looks just like a search bar so all of their users accidentally click on it when they go to search for a song.
tech companies are shaking in their boots trying to prove to shareholders that their investment in AI is worth it, to the point where theyâre tricking their users into using the AI features even for a split second in order to fudge the numbers. like awww is your little environment-destroying toy not wielding the results you hoped for? so sad!
Shipping fictional characters isnât representative of your moral values. Itâs representative of your particular psychic damage and the themes and motifs that haunt you. Hope this helps.
i spent two years after coming out working myself back into the closet; dressing as femininely as possible, wearing makeup, acting "femininely". essentially i tried to forcefem myself, and ended up COMPLETELY miserable.
why did i do this even though i knew deep down what i was? because of radfems. because of anti-masculinity and transandrophobia within my own community. i constantly felt like i had to apologise for being a man, and for being attracted to them. i overcompensated so much - "at least i'm a feminine man!" -> "at least i'm not a binary man!" -> "at least i'm not a man!"
even when people weren't being malicious, there was such a lack of masculine representation in queer spaces that i didn't physically know how to accept myself. i was more confused and self-hating than ever in my life.
so to have so many trans women on tumblr tell people like me "just try to be a girl", "being a girl is better", "masculinity is a prison" feels like it's just pushing similar people out there further into their own personal prison.
your masculinity is PERFECT. you do NOT have to apologise for being who you are. you deserve a place in this community.

My latest cartoon for New Scientist
To be clear, this isn't a bit. This is what they actually did. "Its too late" is the new "Climate change isn't real"... And its still a lie!
Every serious climate scientist agrees that there is no such as thing as too late, just as there is no such thing as too early. We should have done a lot more than we have to fight climate change, and the world will suffer for our inaction, but there is no point of no return. We can always work to reduce the amount of suffering that occurs, and eventually turn things around to the point where our planet is healing once again. Do not believe anyone who says it's "too late".

poor things, well we should definitely make this easier on them by never repeatedly mentioning their name and deeds on the "reblog things forever" website
yea that'd be a shame
by the way, just so everyone knows what not to do, shift+r reblogs a post instantly
just make sure you don't reblog anything about oceangate because that would completely undermine their entire plan đđđ
You also shouldn't queue a post, that would make people keep remembering this post for a longer time, which is the opposite of forgetting

Since Canada is currently trying to sell itself as an "ethical alternative" to Iran's oil, I would just like to remind folks / share some quick information:
More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.
The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.
Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.
The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.

There are people who are going to talk to you about a "runners high" from exercising. They are full of shit and built weird. If you cannot find an exercise you "enjoy," your only hope is psyching yourself that it's "better than the alternative." I hate riding the exercise bike 45 minutes a day, but if I don't, my blood pressure will get so high I can feel my skin (and my skin hurts).
It sucks and it never stops sucking, but it sucks less than the alternatives; yeah, I'm stabbing myself in the leg vs a stranger doing it for me, but at least I will avoid intentionally wedging the knife into my knee joint.
Yeap, it's a hostage situation. If I can't make myself hurt myself, my body will hurt me. And I don't know how to make any part of it feel voluntary.
When the brain fog kicks in..
was half convinced this was on purpose
Mentioned to my mom I'm asexual a couple months ago and today.... we got into the car and she hit me with, "So you use they/them pronouns now?"
I went, "What. no. she/her."
"How does that work? With she/her/hers and they/them?"
I stared at her. "What are you talking about?"
"Well you came out as-" and I said, "I'm asexual."
She replied, "Like an amoeba, I know."
"Oh. My god. No. Mom. It doesn't- it's not the asexual you learned about in biology. I didn't come out as a single celled organism."
With heavy relief, she said "Oh, it has a different meaning?"
"Yes, mom."
came out to a friend as agender and asexual, and she thought this meant i was sexually attracted to other agender people. and i had to be like, "i see how you came to this conclusion, but no."

This June, I need Gen Z queers to understand that some people are closeted.
I am saying this as a Gen Z queer, before yâall get your guns out to fucking shoot me.
But I need yâall to understand that if someone doesnât give you their government name in a queer space, itâs not because theyâre âmysterious,â and you do not have permission to take it upon yourself to figure out their âreal identityâ and go digging for them online like a private investigator. First, thatâs creepy and a violation of privacy and reasonable boundaries. Second, some of us keep our private and professional lives very separate because we need to keep food on the fucking table and a roof over our heads, and our private life could jeopardize that.
âWhy wonât you tell me about your parents?â âWhy canât I know your real name?â âWhere do you work?â
1.) Not all our parents would bake us a fucking cake when we come out. Some of us are closeted. Surely you understand this? You also do not need to know my parentâs names or occupations; we are both adults. I do not need nor want to mix you and my private life with my parents and my public life.
2.) Trans people do not owe you their dead name or government name
3.) Iâm not telling you for the sake of job security. I am a government fucking caseworker working amidst a fucking lavender panic!
âThereâs no way youâre a different person outside this; youâre still you at your core. What harm is thereââ
No, I am a completely different person. A different person with a different personality and different interests and a different name and presentation. I am a completely different person because I keep this life and my public life private to avoid fracturing 90% of my interpersonal relationships and 100% of my professional ones.
âYouâre not out? But youâre so confident.â
Seeâ thatâs part of the issue. Yâall assume someone is in the closet because they hate themselves or lack self-identity. Some of us know exactly who we are, but need to prioritize financial stability or else our entire life gets exponentially harder immediately.
You meet queer people over the age of 40 and one of the first/earliest questions is âwho knows?â
I need yâall to start bringing that energy. Because itâs not always safe for someone to be out and not everyone is safe to be out around.
There is a misnomer that âthe closetâ inherently means âdoesnât know theyâre queerâ and not âisnât out widely and publicly.â âOutnessâ is often a patchwork.
Even if someone who isnt out does share any life details with you, you keep those to yourself. You tread carefully and assume others dont know until told otherwise. And sometimes you lie and help keep that closet door shut. It is ok to feel super weird about it if someone comes out to you as trans but tells you to only use their preferred name and pronouns privately just the two of you. It's fine to feel uncomfortable when people ask you if a gay person has an opposite gendered partner. It is so valid to feel weird and bad deadnaming someone even though they requested it. It stops being valid if you do anything other than they asked. Feel your feelings, and keep them to yourself - someone else's identity isn't about you.
We watched toy story 2 today and they say suicide prominently in the first act. So whenever someone says "unalive," they are operating at a sub-toy story level of vocabulary maturity
