(OOC: howdy there! admin here! probably known for playing Quackity, but I’m also the admin for ElQuackity, Ratackity, Elena, Antoine, German, and others.
i’ve been thinking on it, and i’m bored, so why not have a little ask-the-admin sort of thing? i’m the only admin doing this so don’t go asking blogs that i don’t play, but i’m happy to answer questions about the characters i play or receive the Quackity treatment)
There’s something about Kameto’s obliviousness towards Antoine’s feelings that, when the other is even the slightest bit too nice, makes Antoine simply love him harder. Which is why she was currently lying on the ground beneath the moon. Said moons rings continued to spin and a shadow from the surface of the sphere cast onto them.
Teaching oneself human emotions and feelings was certainly no easy feat. They don’t tell you that once these emotions manifest for real it’s almost impossible to figure them out.
Love was the worst of these. Antoine loved Kameto, but it never truly got to the point it was now. It was just supposed to be a practice crush, they went there separate ways, and weren’t supposed to reunite.
Now they live together.
Two arms came up, wrapping around the back of the box like a blanket. Antoine stared up at the sky. Kameto would come. A general who keeps their word. Antoine would wait. A soldier who waits for orders.
A general who keeps his word. Kameto smiles as he approaches the moon, seeing Antoine laying in the grass.
“It seems you didn’t need me to rescue you, my friend.” He shouts from a distance. He only smiles harder when he sees Antoine notice him.
“Do you want me to lay down with you?” He stands over Antoine now, head tilted with a small smirk on his face. “Or does my princess truly need saving, hm? Do you face an evil and mighty dragon?” He turns to look up at the moon, eyes focusing on the rings.
His tail starts wagging idly, slowly, with the spin of the rings. “This place is beautiful. Did you build this?”
Antoine looks up, admiring Kameto from below. Hard not to being graced by the presence of her general who looks oh so lovely. Not that he never didn’t.
Princess, surprisingly, caught Antoine off guard. A sweet little nickname that Antoine knows Kameto means in a playful way, but he can’t lie it toys with his heart. The actual reaction is hard to tell, hidden away within the box, but Antoine’s core spins in his chest.
“Ahh I did fall! I am just durable, you know?” The box shows a smile as she looks up, pushing herself to sit upright. “I did build that! That- and the dirt towers. I missed the old one. Yes. Before I built the house.”
It fills Antoine with pride knowing Kameto enjoys it,something built by their hands. “A planet needs a moon. A planet is built with its dirt. Everything comes together like that.”
Kameto hums, not looking back down at her yet. "You could probably get away with building some nice ponds or moats around here." He tilts his head, eyes focused on the planet. "Or put a little guy up there, like a..." He snaps his fingers in thought, face scrunched a bit.
"Easter egg?" He looks down at her again with a soft smile and shrugs. "Something for someone eager to find. Like a puzzle."
He reaches his hand out for her, kneeling slightly. "Come on, I've got a spot. Can't have a date here."
“Ah, but the dirt! It is beautiful. Multi ah, multi-uses yes.” Despite her claims, Antoine reaches to take Kameto’s hand. “But I trust you. Always.”
A light gesture felt incredibly caring. Neither of their hands were particularly without marks or soft, yet these were the nicest hands Antoine’s ever held.
It isn’t like they have never been joined with their hands before, they have shared their hands a few times during battles together, but the context here was different than supporting a soldier or general. This was simply Kameto and Antoine. Going on a date.
Or, well, a friend date as Kameto said. How could someone be so beautifully oblivious?
Antoine lets Kameto take him up. “Like follow the leader and you are the leader.”
Kameto doesn't let go of Antoine's hand. Instead, he squeezes and turns to drag her along to a secluded little spot, dug away into a cave.
It's not anything too extravagant. Kameto isn't exactly known for his building skills, so the walls are still stone, lit by a few redstone torches scattered a few blocks apart. In the middle, there's a table with a lantern in the middle and two chairs tucked beneath the edges. When Antoine sees it, Kameto smiles proudly at his - admittedly - shoddy work.
If Antoine had to be honest it really wasn’t much. The scene laid out in front of her was simplistic. Antoine knew the general was never much of a builder, then again he always was in a leadership position. Very few times did Antoine witness Kameto actually building something.
That’s why it was so special. It’s never the skill to Antoine, it’s the fun, the reason, the beauty of a build was the enjoyment. He built a shit tower for the purpose of simply building a shit tower. The details of Kameto’s build is the fact he had the goal to make it. Dare Antoine say, the heart to want to make something like this, for a ‘friend’ date with him.
“Really?” She asks, playfully tilting her head to the side. The box’s smile remained emotionless whereas the smile underneath of it was full of love. “I think it’s lovely. You did this? For me? Ah, you’re kind!”
He laughs and nods. "I was trying to build a house and well... I think building from the dining room first may have been my mistake." He scratches the back of his neck before walking over to one of the chairs. He pulls it out and motions for Antoine to take a seat. He wiggles his eyebrows at her playfully.
“You’re such a gentleman Kameto.” He plays along, laughing as he sits down. “Well a place to eat is very important, oui? Progress is progress!”
Antoine could only wish their friend the best in building his house. It was a bit of a shame. They enjoyed having their general as a roommate. But they would always support Kametos endeavors and their door would always be open for him.
He made his way over to his own chair. "I- I don't know which room I'll build next, the kitchen, the living room, or your room but-" He waves his hand as he sits down. "I'll figure it out!"
He looks at Antoine and gives them a sweet smile. "I usually just go back to your place whenever I need to sleep."
Oh, that poor oblivious general. Fully unaware of the things he does that makes Antoine (metaphorically) swoon. It was unfair for someone to be that fascinating, and in the theme of human desires, she couldn’t help but adore the newer nature of her friend.
“And it is always open for you to sleep!” He announced and threw his arms out. A very tasteful joke almost flew out with their arms too. “The doors are always open for you. For as long as you build and need, of course!
His smile stayed just as sweet as he grabbed one of Antoine's extended hands. With an incomprehensible suave Kameto lacked, he brought Antoine's knuckles to his lips and kissed them, eyes closed to not see the reaction.
"Likewise, my friend. Any time home feels too much, then I will be there for you."
Very few things leave Antoine breathless. Now she can’t muster the words or ability to fake breathe. Under the box her eyes are wide, even she was not expecting the sudden affection.
Truly disappointing it lasts for only a few seconds. He can’t even bring himself to blurt out his feelings for a chance at more. His core, while not a heart, feels like it’s beating like one. The feeling doesn’t sit right in his body. Worst of all is the lingering feeling on his hand- his knuckles- that he tries to hold onto, his other hand coming to hold the spot.
Ah, there’s no point in fantasizing about it. There aren’t enough words they could tell Kameto anyway to frame it perfectly. It’s more simple to say the truth.
“You always have been there, Kameto. When I need you.”
Kameto opens his eyes and smiles at Antoine affectionately. "You were the one who was there for me first, my friend. Don't forget that when you're complimenting me." Kameto winks.
He reaches into his inventory and starts moving things around before finding his food bag. He starts pulling out different dishes, ranging from cuts of cooked meat to bread and crops. He lays them all out on the table - plates included - in a way that Antoine gets to choose what she would like to eat. He motions to all of it with his arm.
It was a spread that Antoine hadn’t expected. The amount of time and effort Kameto must have put into this- both the location and food preparation, it felt special.
Beloved. Whether Kameto meant anything more or simply a friend didn’t matter. Simply hearing the fact she meant enough to be loved by him in some way brought comfort.
“You know how to spoil someone Kameto.” They lightly joked, taking a plate.
“I didn’t know you could cook. Is this new?” Antoine didn’t necessarily need to eat, not like people did, but she liked indulging in it. Especially in good company.
He nods and puts one of the plates in front of her. "I uh- I wanted to learn a bit after last time I cooked for you? So I asked around and got some lessons..." Kameto can't help but to keep looking at Antoine, like he was hanging off her reactions to it. He doesn't even take a bite until Antoine does.
Antoine thinks fondly of Kameto’s previous explorations in the cooking world. It never went well but he thought Kameto had the determination for it. The improvement was noticeable as Antoine began filling his plate with the options laid out.
“Ah! Oui I remember now. Fast learner aren’t you?” Antoine teased, finally taking a bite from underneath the box.
Food was a pleasure to Antoine. Something to indulge in, not a need to live. To know Kameto worked to make something as good as this for her simply warmed her core. The new best thing she’s ever eaten.
With honesty, Antoine spoke, “parfait. Absolument parfait.”
He smiles softly and nods. There’s a slight flush to his cheeks as he pulls some food onto his own plate. “Merci, Antoine. I… I’m glad you like it.” He mumbles the last bit and takes a bite.
“I figured it would help repay you for housing me for so long. I could come around and feed you, maybe even Pomme if she’s around. Uh-“ His ears flatten against his head, eyes staying on the table. He taps his fork once, twice against the plate. “If she wants to know me, that is… I don’t want to make her see me though.”
Through the loops of the back of his chair, his tail droops, unnoticed by Kameto. “Baghera still hasn’t… and I know she’s- it’s been difficult for her. I saw the- I’ve heard things.” He shakes his head and stakes through a piece of meat. “But, it is what it is, right?”
Antoine’s fork slowly drops back down from her head and sifts around her plate. She picks around, choosing the best piece like she chooses her words.
“They will come around.” His fork scrapes slightly against her plate as he brings another piece to his mouth. After the bite is finished he sits his fork down against his plate.
“Time, mon ami. In time. Pomme is slow to trust, as we taught her. And Baghera has a lot to handle. They just need time.” Their hands move down, folding in their lap. “But they need to see who you are too. When the time is right of course! How do they know you want to know them right if they can’t see you?”
After they speak, they take a moment to truly process the sight of Kameto, the truest raw emotional form they had ever gotten the pleasure of seeing from Kameto. Even looking so sad at the thoughts of what may happen, he still managed to look as lovely as he always has. For being a general he is just as loyal as soldiers were to him.
“Don’t use time to think about the what-ifs, Kam. It’s only ‘what it is’ if you let it be.”
He nods, but doesn't lift his head. "I think it's best for them to come to me when they're ready. I shouldn't expect it, I shouldn't-" He takes a breath. "I shouldn't get their hopes up if I'm not what they expect or want. I need to move at their pace, not mine. And I will sit here and hope for a day they're ready... that's the best thing I can do for them."
Without looking away from the food, Kameto gets another bite. "What about you? How has life been for you? Other than- Other than me coming into it, of course."
Antoine went to say more, but stopped herself before she could utter a word. It would be hypocritical of them to argue, after all, they are still waiting themself. She hummed in acknowledgment of Kameto’s decision.
“Life has been turning,” she draws a circular motion with her finger in the air, “life goes on.”
His tail flicks, the first siting of that in a while. There’s a second where Antoine seems to process something before laughing.
“Oh! Oh you mean me! Hah, I’m sorry!” She shakes her head and waves her hands, still laughing as she responds again. “Ah, not much to say. Crash on an island, child adoption, building, dirt, to myself mostly. And Pomme.”
Antoine goes to lift up her fork. “I have tried reaching out to Mynthos. No response! He’s not the ignoring type.”
He laughs and grabs the hand closest to him, bringing it down to the table. He doesn't let it go - old habits really do die hard. "I'm sure he's doing just fine. It's Mynthos, my friend; He's probably off making some chicken prison or whatever." He shakes his head fondly. "One day he will meet the right person who can teach him how to humanely treat chickens... He still hasn't listened to me about it despite everything... Those poor chickens..."
He chuckles and keeps eating, other hand still over Antoine's. He doesn't mind. He hopes she doesn't mind. A little part of him thinks it would break his heart... but he doesn't have the time to analyze that.
“Mynthos doing fine? You mean the Mynthos who begged an equally broke me to stay in my shit tower? That Mynthos?” Antoine sounds serious at first and full of concern, but she laughs. “We are ah, a bit pathetic. Me and Mynthos.”
Though they laugh it’s hard to focus with the weight of Kameto’s hand on theirs. There’s an overwhelming desire to clasp them together or just slightly graze his hand with their thumb. It was a friendly gesture, they were sure of it, and they don’t want to scare Kameto off.
Their hand remains under Kameto’s, unmoving.
“Good luck to them! He started putting cows in terrible conditions! His greed grows!” With both hands busy their tail flicks wildly to illustrate the point. Though she hesitates. “It is simply unlike him is all. We are close.”
Kameto laughs, leaning back in his chair a bit as he does. His hand wraps around Antoine's to keep some balance. "These poor animals..."
He does sober up a bit at the last part. "Wait- You've had no communication with him whatsoever? None? It- maybe the federation is scrambling your communicator finally or- or something. I'm sure he's fine, Antoine."
It’s what she wants to say but it gives far too much away. Antoine’s role is simply too great for them to have done that. Even if Mynthos wasn’t a key person with her employment reinstated she has more permissions than the average resident.
Still, Kameto doesn’t know that. Awkward to keep a secret when they are on the same side.
“Must be something on his end.” He concludes. A sad conclusion he feels. It means nothing they can do but assume Mynthos is well somewhere. The thought is accepted easily for Antoine.
Which is why he can’t fully understand why his fingers choose to curl around one of Kametos hands. Antoine didn’t require comforting, Mynthos was likely perfectly fine, yet a traitorous part of himself wants Kameto to think he does just to not let go.
