grew up with a single mother whom he cared quite a great deal for
his father was ok? like, he just didnāt come around often. hank never knew him and never really cared to find out.
they werenāt exactlyĀ āwell-offā, hank grew up in a more rural, lower income section of downtown detroit. his mother was an RN.
despite lackluster holidays, frequent meals alone while his mother worked, and not all theĀ āmaterialā things in the world, hank had a good childhood
he started working when he was 15, first job was a bus-boy at a pizza place. he was paid under the table. heās never not held a job longer than six months since.
relatively popular. charming. hank was a chameleon almost, he fit in with a lot of different crowds as a teen.
he did so well throughout school, eventually he got a grant to go to college and study criminal justice and forensic investigations.
while studying, he was also enrolled to become a police officer, where he met jeffrey fowler.Ā
he also met his wife, lucile, while going to university. she was a literature major
they were married before hank graduated. very much in love despite very boisterous personalities. you think hank has the mouth of a sailor? lucile could make your uncle blush. they were married over ten years.Ā
sadly, lucile died not long after giving birth to their son, cole - around six months after to be precise. doctors say it was a mixture of lingering heart disease, and severe postpartum depression.Ā
she stopped caring for their son and herself toward the end, despite hank desperately trying to get her help.Ā
losing cole six years later truly broke him, and hank has never really let himself recover from losing most of his family due to circumstances he couldnāt control.Ā
up until his son dying, hank had a decent handle on his alcohol consumption. it was never too much. now, heās struggling to find a way to live without it.
