In a world of increasingly sophisticated facial-recognition technology, a drastic technique can throw the machines off your trail.
Currently going on idea regarding surveillance in the streets. Also an opportunity to throw parties with this make-up
Another shape of hacktivism.
Prove that anonymous is more than a few people. You need a lot of people to overload a website with a lot of clicks. So it gets blocked. Â

Another kind of hacktivism I just discovered, is called social engineering. You basically need more than the knowledge how to handle the internet or the computer. Also social skills are important.Â
It'S basically about pretending to be another person or a certain program in order to get the right information.Â
SORRY: GERMAN.Â
Anonymous has tracked down and released about 800 Facebook, Twitter and e-Mail adreses linked to ISIS.
Anonymous is represented by the community of the internet. They don't like dictatorship. They want net neutrality. That'S why they don't like the brainwashing of ISIS.
"What unites these groups is the belief that the future is not about vertical, hierarchical government, but horizontal [peer-to-peer] government,"
John Perry Barlow
"Hidden Wiki is an index containing hundreds of underground websites that can't be seen by search engines or viewed by regular internet users. Such sites can't be reached by conventional means, and contain a variety of content ranging from innocuous to illegal."
"After smacking Freedom Hosting around, Anonymous then singled out another Hidden Wiki listing, a file-swapping site used by pedophiles called "Lolita City" from which 1,589 names were extracted and published on Pastebin"
The magazine of the US-China Business Council. Great insight into the motivation of Chinese Cities and control.Â
We see Smart Cities as Activism of the Government. If smart cities would be realized everywhere to full extend, it could become slavery.
Devices with sensors, meters, cameras, control systems which were initially independently designed by Amazon, Google,... are being connected to communicate data with each other over social networks.Â
This means on one hand, that in such a huge city like Shanghai, people can easier be contacted if there is a thread for a disaster (safety), make appointments in health institutes or buy tickets easier. Things will get more organized by a virtual network and there is space for more people in a city (major problem in China).Â
On the other hand it means, that through the usage of this technology, the city or government also has the possibility to record you health status, your entertainment choices, your location and movement.Â
Your freedom of disappearing for a few days where ever you want, watching what you want or consume what you want will be impacted.Â
Being surveilled all the time means that the government or maybe also everyone else can see you (and your whole identity) in a public space.Â
Not only a fear of the public could be created (because you are more vulnerable), but also your right of being there (in a case of physical protest) can be denied there because of maybe a character trait you have.
There will be the need to escape the loss of privacy and secret processes. If 4-chan was able to create such a place for some time (no censorship, freedom of expression), maybe we will be creating more spaces of virtual anonymity in the future. Â

"Moot" at his TED Talk in 2010. It's about how the internet community established itself and started taking control. With no censorship, the mass is able to communicate and and take action in whatever way they want. Any kind of porn travels freely around 4-chan without filtering. It appears that vulgarity and cruelty is shown or emphasized, just because it's possible. On the other hand, new (internet) trends like Caturday and Lolcat are created, by own initiative.
Unlike the like option on  Facebook, these trends seem to move people virtually on the internet. It took them 24 hours to identify the abuser of Dusty the cat, and another 24 to get him arrested.Â
Although 4-chan as a movement has lost in strength (because it got old and too many people know about it), it's a good example how internet communities can change values.Â
Motivations ofr "activism on the internet" can be totally invaluable to our society, but can be easier just powered by a funfactor, or curiosity. (Upvoting of Moot in  Time100 and further voting to arrange all names not he list to shape a word)
Real life values can be shifted. I've seen stories about child porn on 4-chan and it hasn't moved many to get that person arrested like in the case of the DustyCat.
On other days, 4chan will hack child pornography websites.
It appears like the internet has moodswings: It depends on how many people with power come together at the same time and locaition with the same motivation to act.Â
"Deep Web is a precious source to collect compliant on illicit made by governments, there is a huge quantity of sites that give the possibility to publish reserved documents preserving the anonymity of the submitter. Deep web is recognized as a powerful instrument to share and divulgate compromising files, it represents an option to everybody that desire to disclose document being anonymous."
"The main threat is you" The message is clear: the excessive security of the people is always a harbinger of its servitude. Would you like to live in a world where you're constantly under surveillance? Where each and every movement you make is registered? This is not protection. This is fear.
At the occasion of the release of the movie the Fifth Estate, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch contacted Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, to ask for a meeting. Here's the answer he received.
"There are dozens of positive books about WikiLeaks, but Dreamworks decided to base its script only on the most toxic. So toxic is the first book selected by Dreamworks that it is distributed to US military bases as a mechanism to discourage military personnel from communicating with us. Its author is publicly known to be involved in the Dreamworks production in an ongoing capacity."
"Feature films are the most powerful and insidious shapers of public perception, because they fly under the radar of conscious exclusion. This film is going to bury good people doing good work, at exactly the time that the state is coming down on their heads. [...] It seeks to cut our strength with weakness. To cut affection with exploitation. To cut diligence with paranoia. To cut loyalty with naivety. Â To cut principle with hypocrisy. And above all, to cut the truth with lies."
"Hacktivism is at least as old as October 1989 when DOE, HEPNET and SPAN (NASA) connected VMS machines world wide were penetrated by the anti-nuclear WANK worm. […] WANK penetrated machines had their login screens altered to:
