ok so hugo’s A Lot and i’m gonna apologize for him now. that being said he’s got no chill and neither do i so let’s go

ok so hugo!!!! long story short he’s got a long history of not feeling Good Enough

could never compare to his mortal siblings, could never get his parents’ attention without getting himself in trouble, always working to prove himself to zeus

literally the first thing i wrote about him was “young scrappy and hungry” bc yeah i’m theatre trash but it’s ACCURATE

he’s always been a fighter like he got in hella trouble as a youth for getting into little scraps during recess n shit and he was probably only the instigator about 40% of the time!!

he’s irrational and angry and ready to fight but he’s got so many ideas and he wants to be a good leader but he doesn’t know how

he’s fuckin thirsty for any type of attention. good, bad, platonic, romantic, parental. just notice him jfc 

when he found out he was a demigod, everything really made sense and he really feels like he belongs at camp half-blood

but that doesn’t mean he feels like he fits in. he does fit in but he’s worried that people don’t actually like him or trust him. 

he feels like they don’t take him seriously. 

he feels like he doesn’t deserve to be zeus’ son

so yeah when he first got to camp circa age ten(?) he was thrown into the hermes cabin bc zeus was like... “i’m not getting bitched at for ANOTHER kid until he proves himself”

and prove himself he did bc somehow this brat got himself involved in a quest when he was fuckin ten years old. 

anyway details are fuzzy on that bc i’m delirious with hunger as i’m typing this

spoiler alert: expect this shit to come up in a task somewhere along the way.

so hugo kept proving himself and became a valuable asset to the camp, kind of to the point where he fucked himself over bc when the war came they were like... hey why don’t you stick around here and keep shit running smoothly 

which he was NOT a fan of but he kept it going on the homefront!! think captain america performing for the USO instead of fighting 

anyway he’s charismatic and literally inherited leadership skills from zeus so he keeps being like a Go To Guy around camp!!!

until the roman attack, at least. in battle, he made several questionable calls that nearly got himself and a few other campers killed. it was a disaster and it’s changed his perception around camp (and his perception of himself)

no longer the self-assured, overconfident-but-friendly boy he was before. he’s working to get better, but he faces a lot of self-doubt and has the tendency to withdraw within himself when things get tough. 

he’ll still put on a brave face and get shit done, but the cool guy act is MUCH more of a facade than it once was

he’s constantly doing little things to get himself back in the favor of chiron and mr. d and even the gods (lol like any of them are paying attention)

has been itching to go on a quest and redeem himself

some other, less sad things about hugo!!

he’s a giant nerd. loves star wars a lot (aka his blog title) 

his weapon of choice is a celestial bronze spear, through which he can channel lightning (yes i stole this from thalia but she’s a huntress anyway so she’s not using it!!) but also he just likes using it as a regular spear too 

as a child of zeus he possesses aerokinesis (air manipulation), atmokinesis (controlling the weather) and electrokinesis (lightning and electricity). 

first and foremost he is ASS at controlling the air like... u know how jason grace can fuckin fly at will???? not hugo. he can barely make a wind chime make some noise 

he’s learning to control the weather. not very good but he’s trying. this he blames on being stuck in camp half-blood where the weather doesn’t change but really it’s bc he sucks

but he DOES excel in the lightning/electricity department!!! fun fact he used to make lightning flash when he would throw temper tantrums!! (aka it still happens every once in a while)
