Dark Model is a new project by a New York based award winning composer Tatsuya Oe (also known as Captain Funk), which focuses on edgy, progressive, and dramatic hybrid (orchestral electronic) music.
Its basic concept is to make “Music Fiction (or Drama)” by incorporating a diverse range of musical ideas and elements which Tatsuya has achieved through out his career. As heard in his past works such as Captain Funk “Songs of the Siren” which was acclaimed by the Billboard magazine and OE’s most experimental “Physical Fiction”, Tatsuya has had strong interests in “building and telling a story through music” in terms of both composition and sound design.
What he is attempting in his approach with Dark Model could be could be considered to be in the same vein as those earlier works. However, it is striking that he features more cinematic elements and orchestral arrangements in this new project than he did previously.
Since the launch of the project in May 2012, Dark Model’s music has been licensed and featured in numerous media projects, including the first promo reel of 2013 film “Elysium” as well as advertising campaigns of Verizon Droid (US), Lexus (US), Oakley (US), KFC (AU), etc.
