While I do bruise like a peach, the real pain was the box popping open and all the doughnuts rolling away. But.. I’ve recovered. And yes, you did miss it. But there’s no shame in a belated celebration?

Why didn’t you do the whole... ten second rule thing. If you were a true donut fan you wouldn’t have let the box opening stop you. I’m sure there will be a next time, we’re both too clumsy for our own good. Trust me as soon as you told me I went out to get some for myself. 

Star Wars is a little overrated, anyway. Oops, did I say that? Don’t tell anyone, especially not your brother. Aww, I love that. Sounds like a super comfy jumper too! That’s lovely. Me personally, I’m not a big fan of big gatherings, so just going out with a few friends would be my perfect evening. 

Wow, you really don’t hold back do you. Don’t worry, I won’t tell my brother you said that. We’re safe! It is, it’s one of my favourites. I’m not either. My sister was big into the club scene when we were teenagers and still goes out all the time with out old costars. Me on the other hand, I’d rather have a board game night and drink a pint with some friends. 

Yeah, that’s what I think too. I mean we all associate character traits and behaviours with words like “queen” or “rebel” and when people lean towards one of those things must speak to them. Aww, you are? That’s good to know. Do you have a lot of Gryffindor merch? And did you celebrate your birthday a little?

It’s true! For some reason all I picture when you say rebel is Katniss Everdeen. I don’t know why! I’m sure my brother would be all sorts of mad that I didn’t associate rebel with anyone from Star Wars. I do. I have this one jumper that is my absolute favourite on a lazy day. It’s Maroon and gold stripped with the little crest over your heart. I love it! I did get a chance to actually. A few friends took me out for some drinks on Saturday night and I’ve had an old friend staying for a few days. It’s been nice!

Thank you, thank you! It was more of a spontaneous answer in that moment, but thinking back on it I really love it. Of course I gotta make you think! You’d be bored without me making you think, admit it! But I love your answers. I think it can tell a lot about a person, right? But also: Happy belated birthday, babe!

I love that! Okay that’s fair, I would be pretty bored if all the questions were easy. Thanks babe, I tried to keep you on your toes. I hadn’t thought about it but you’re right. The reasoning behind their answer is definitely a good give away for what makes them tick. I guess my answer told you I’m a proud Gryffindor, huh?

Just wait until your birthday in a few weeks, gramps. Just you wait! 

You know, I’m hoping I’m not going to grow into a hypocritical father when he starts going out, as long as he’s being safe and respectful of other people I want him to be able to go through the normal teenage experiences and have fun, I’m just going to make sure I educate him enough beforehand and…yeah, maybe tutor him using my own mistakes, because we were on another level. That’s right, you’ve been living here for too long already. I’m clearly already doing something right with my track record, like you said, so why make the extra effort? My flight gets in at 11, and I’m honoured at the effort you’re going to. Does that mean we can go through some…New York bagel drive thru on the way to yours? Because I’m starving. 

Alright, you get some cool dad points for that one. Maybe he’ll be less of a moody teen if he knows you’re giving him some leeway on things. Nothing makes a teenager more mad than a grouchy hypocrite parent. One day I’ll get a call saying “Aunt Kat, Dad’s gunna kill me if he finds out how drunk I am. Can you come pick me up?” at which point I’ll have to go find his drunk ass and bring him back home. Heres to hoping he doesn’t get his height from you. I don’t need him falling on me and crushing me too. Don’t lump me in with you, I behaved myself... most of time. It was you and Jack that were wild and out of control. I have been! Don’t worry, my accent will come back in full force once we get a few drinks in me. Okay I’ll come pick you up! I’ll make a little sign and everything. Yeah we can do that, we’ll grab a bite and some coffee. How’s that? Are you ready for me to make you over later?
