I would like to believe that Professor Snape cared for Luna in secret. Luna reminded him of a young Lily Evans. Severus would watch over Luna and whenever he would witness a student or even a staff bullying her or being mean to her he would find a reason to punish them; like sending a student to detention or deducting house points for the slightest thing, say loitering or whistling in the halls. As for one of the teachers he would just be a bit more vile towards them. Luna had no idea that Professor Snape did this for her, no one knew except for Severus himself. When Severus was gone, Luna sensed that something was different with her school life, but she couldn’t figure out what it was that had changed; Yes, a lot had changed during that time, but it was something more. Luna felt like something was missing, a piece of her heart, her soul was gone forever and she couldn’t figure out what had previously taken up that space.
