I am still alive, Gaza is no longer Gaza
Read this. Read it slowly.
Read it again.
And then again.
Don't you ever forget it.

A blogger in gaza, Amal alhenawi, shared a story yesterday explaining how the past few days have been. Of course there are no words to describe exactly how it is to live under constant bombardment.
She said that she misses sleeping alone in her room, instead of having to share a room with other 10 people. She said she feels guilty when she secretly admits she's terrified of death and that she wants to live. No internet, no food, sometimes when they get lucky each member of her family gets one loaf of bread for the day, other days there might not be anything to eat. She mentioned how everybody celebrated when her brother came back with water, but it tasted weird, turns out it was undrinkable but it was the only solution they had.
What horrified me the most, is when she talked about their neighbors building getting bombed by israeli air strikes. And how paramedics as well as civilian defense came to the scene only to leave minutes later. In their own words: "this building is four floors. We have no equipment to dig through or get anyone out." So they had to leave. People from the neighborhood started digging with their own hands, they could hear some people alive underneath, but no one could get out.
Amal talks about her two cousins who visited her and they're little kids who don't talk anymore. She said they saw their friend and neighbor dead, with his head sperated from his body, the trauma was too severe for them to process.
Amal wants to live. She came to gaza to celebrate her brother's wedding. Who was planning on leaving for his honeymoon before the genocide started.
Each person of gaza has a story, a life worth living. So we must end this genocide. Do everything you can, do not stop and do not get used to it. Annihilating an entire city is not normal and should never be.

It's also worth pointing out that Ukraine has a population of 43 million, while Gaza's is only a little over 2 million

thereās something so insane about people who used to love putting āfree Palestineā in their bio now deciding they have pearls in need of clutching. how did you think Palestine was going to be freed? did you think that if we all wrote āfree Palestineā in our blog titles the world would just say oh you know what, our bad? did you think if Palestinians protested really, really peacefully, that Netanyahu would be moved? did you think that essays about decolonization published in the neoliberal academy would do the trick?
or did you simply expect Palestinians to wait? to wait and watch every day as their loved ones are killed because they step out of line? as the journalists and medics are shot around them? as Israel commits war crimes against them and the world does nothing? raining white phosphorous down on an open-air prison where the exits are controlled, closed, bombed out? as the Sabra and Shatila massacres are forgotten and repeated and forgotten and repeated and forgotten and repeated in an endless cycle?
when you wrote āfree Palestineā in your bio, what did you think it meant?
"If your safety requires the occupation, imprisonment, and oppression of a people: you don't have safety and you never will."
Rachel Corrie, an American citizen, was murdered, repeatedly run over by a bulldozer as she stood in defense of Palestinians.
Her family was threatened and anyone who spoke about her was smeared as an antisemite including Alan Rickman who wrote and directed a play about her.
To this day she is remembered and honoured as a martyr in Palestine.
While, at the time, her death was mocked in Israel by putting her face on pancakes.
The pain and terror children in gaza live with constantly. He's trying to keep himself together, developing a tolerance for horrors that no child should ever witness. Where are the human rights activists? Or save the children organization? CALL FOR A CEASEFIRE NOW.
This baby remained under the rubble for six hours. Read it again. By some miracle, he survived and he was rescued. But his mother who was holding him didn't. He looks like he's in shock, you can see tears coming out of his eyes but no expression or any sound to indicate his pain.
We are not numbers. Make an effort to end this.

This mother has lost all of her children at once by Israeli air strikes. She refuses to wash her hands when people tell her to because she doesn't want to lose the last real thing she has left of them.
"My kids are gone. My kids are gone, people. God take care of them please, I can't bear this anymore." Then at the end she asks if all of their bodies have been brought to the hospital, she says: "Did they bring mohammed? Where is he?"
How does a person just go on after this? Demand a ceasefire now. Don't stay silent, reblog amd repost and do everything you can to make this genocide stop!
"every zionist accusation is a confession"
