Thanks for your votes on the pot color for my Stephania venosa. I think the usual pot that's paired with a caudex is a dark terracotta or charcoal color so I suppose people wanted to see it in a different style. Until some foliage grows, I'll just photograph it in front of some showy calatheas - 📷2️⃣ I threaded a fishing line through the base of the pot for... - 🎥3️⃣ ...ease of servicing: I wanted the rim of the nursery pot to sit just below the container but still be able to easily lift it out for watering. First visit to my monstera as a married couple #monsteramonday - FAQ: plant is lit by a west facing door (seen in photo) that gets a few hours of direct sun and a large north facing window (off screen to the right). At this light level, I can safely pour in about a liter and a half of water each week when I see this plant at church. Monsteras grow as vines so what you are seeing here is 7 vines tied together against a sturdy metal trellis (they're not rooted against the trellis). Appreciating new growth on my Starfish Sansevieria - (📷 2) one year ago, the baby was but a single sprout! Happy #sansevieriasunday 🐍🌿 - FAQ: pot is from @dynastytoronto, there is no drainage hole but I prefer it that way so water doesn't get onto the shelf. Look closely and you'll see the plant is potted in a plastic nursery pot, which I prefer for moisture control. I can remove the inner pot and water it at the sink. 🎥 1) recorded over several weeks in April 2018. I only caught the first two blooms. - 📷 2) August 2018: the phalaenopsis was in full bloom about a month ago and currently on display near the dining table. - 📷 3) I estimate that by the end of September, the white blooms will have fallen off, at which time the plants will be returned to their grow space - patio doors facing west. Shortly after staging this photo, I discovered a rather severe spider mite infestation on this Platycerium superbum - probably got worse because I wasn't inspecting the plant daily. Plant stand: bought this in Singapore. - 📷 2) Anyway, for the past few months, it was growing nicely in this repurposed wooden salad bowl filled with pure sphagnum moss and held together with burlap stapled to the inside of the bowl. - 📷 3) Seeing as how the spider mites were congregating around the outside of the pot, I decided to remove the plant entirely and give it a good spray down outside with water. I've potted it into a temporary pot where I will monitor it closely. Images are typically saved in jpg - a compressed format. The compression algorithm compares nearby pixels and, if they are similar enough, they get converted to be the same, reducing the overall "information" in the picture. However, when a scene has lots of detail (edges, patterns, and hues), the resulting jpg will still be large - this photo was 10 MB compared to the usual 4-6 MB.
