Hey, I’m not sure if you’re still running this blog or anything like that, but I wanted to know what your Ireland father head cannons would be lol. But you don’t have to 🥰
Hi there, yeah I'm still around just quite busy. Thanks for the question, I will gladly answer.
I haven't developed my hcs that much but there we go...Ireland is a country knows for its familiar ties, how important is the family for the Irish so knowing this:
1. Overall I think Ireland would be a father that would give everything for his family as if he becomes a father he will make sure his little one has everything.
2. I do see Ireland being a very good father, he would be the perfect balance between easy going and let his children given them the "freedom" to know the world but strict at the same time making sure they make their homework, cooperate in home with the basic needs like learning how to clean or prepare the table for lunch/dinner, stuff like that
3. I think he would be a father that inevitably spoils his children too much. Given the Ireland history, he has suffered a lot and struggled for most of his life so he will make sure his kids never miss anything like clothes or a plate of food, also he would help them with their studies and play with them with the toys.
This is something I think Ireland didn't have in his childhood so he will move earth, seas and mountains just to give to his loved ones the childhood he never had, one where kids could be kinds and not worried about missing food or running through forests hiding from invaders
4. He will personally teach Irish (or Gaeilge) to his children, either if they learn it in school or not and also Irish dancing
5. He will be supportive most of the time, like if his children are interested in drawing or music, he would listen to them and show interest, yeah maybe he will struggle to understand why do they like something but despite of everything he would have the type of thought of "I might not understand it but if it makes you happy, then I'm happy to see you happy"
6. Very protective, like VERY protective. You're done if you dare to say something bad about them
7. I do see Ireland being good when it comes to kids as I hc him as the oldest of the UK and Ireland islands brothers and in my hcs Ireland at some point took care of every one of them so he would have the experience ...in some way
8. He would get along very well with the parents of his children's friends and gladly will welcome them in home if they were invited
9. He will freak out if his children are playing with their uncles (Ireland's brothers) and let's idk Scotland decides to play to throw rocks at England of something like that. Will yell at Scotland for being a bad uncle and tell the kid not to listen to his uncle
10. NI would be like a honorable member. Like yeah Ireland and NI are brothers but somehow I do hc Ireland sometimes just inevitably goes from brother to father towards NI time to time....failing terribly.
This is also caused by the fact NI has grown only with brothers and not a parental figure unlike his older brothers, so that wish of seeing one of his brothers as a more parental figure can fit more into Ireland because despite of everything, Irelands is the one that understands NI the best, even thought he fails sometimes to express it but NI knows Ireland truly cares and just wants to make sure he gets a proper childhood and teenage days.
Having said this I think NI would be like an "older brother" to Ireland's kids, he will taught thme how to annoy Ireland in all the ways possible, of course Ireland doesn't approve this but he can't really stop NI of doing so, he knows it's just all mess and playful banter, no hurt is implied there
11. Ireland would teach them also about animals and bring them to the farm and the countryside time to time just to make them develop interest and fascination towards the flora and fauna and respect the nature.
12. When his children reach the teenage era, he will try to have deeper conversations with them but giving them their own space as he has personally seen it from NI.
He will sit and listen to them, their problems, their doubts, their fears and will always encourage them and make sure they are okay, he will let them cry or hug them all the time they need also making sure and understanding now his children were growing up and finding a personality for themselves, and yeah Ireland knows he can't give them all the answers cause he believes they need to experience the pain or the heartbreak, but surely not letting them down and just being there supporting them.
13. He will very "strong" when it come to teach to his children to appreciate and values everything they have. It would take him a lot of effort but he will always remind that to them.
14. When he plays with his children with the toys, he is the "worst child" as he is living as an adult through his children something he couldn't enjoy when he was a kid so he allows himself to "heal"
15. At nights he would cry because he would think he is the worst father in the world because maybe he arrived late to pick up his children for school or stuff like that. He wants to be a good father but he thinks he is failing when at the eyes of his children, he has become a hero and a person they will look up for.
That's mostly I can think of, I'm sorry if it feels a bit bland....I hope you've found them interesting.
Again thanks for the question.
