Hournite Week 2022 Day 7: Romantic Comedy
🎵: Love you like the movies (Anthem Lights)
"Just reduce the radius, and adjust the speed parameter... and there! I got it! I found the--"
Beth turned and was immediately faced with a pair of warm brown eyes. Rick.
"O-oh," Beth stammered. "Sorry about that. I didn't know you were there."
"S-sorry," Rick's voice broke a little as he said. But he made no move to shift away from the back of Beth's seat. He had always liked watching her work, and the infectious smile on her face whenever she makes a breakthrough is his favourite part of it all.
"Is it just me or do you feel like barfing too?" Yolanda said in a dry voice from beside Courtney, the two of them watching from a dark corner of the room. A corner of her lips is quirked up in a knowing smile. "How can they be so oblivious?"
Courtney grinned. "I think it's sweet. It's kinda like watching a rom-com."
"Just kiss already!"

Hournite week day 6: Crossover
"Beth Chapel is the latest research recruit at the esteemed Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. It's her dream job, but one that comes with a lot of stress and expectations. She knows she can handle it though, she's definitely dealt with worse. However, a first day encounter with a mysterious field agent starts Beth down a path of discovery (and love?) that she never thought was possible, and inevitably, changes her life."
And If I Know You, I’ll Know What You’ll Do
Hournite Week Day 6: Crossover (OUAT)
Summary: She’s a sleeping beauty, he’s a shining knight. This is how it’s always been, and how it’s meant to be, right?
A/N: I’ll be posting new chapters for this fic on ao3 every week!
CHAPTER ONE: MIDNITE AND THE HOUR PRINCE
Time was everything to the Hour Prince. It measured how long his parents had departed him with the gift of utter loneliness known only to orphans. Time told the years that he remained under the thumb of his heartless uncle, the Regent King. Time, parcelled into pieces, delivered seasons, months, weeks and days. And, most cruelly, time ripped Hour Prince apart from the light of his life – Midnite –
who only graced the Enchanted Forest once the moon veiled the sky.

A Truly Devious Crossover -
When avid true crime lover Beth Chapel gets accepted into a prestigious boarding school for teenagers with unique abilities, her one job is to solve the decades-old murder of the wealthy King family. Along the way, she meets her best friends Yolanda Montez and Cameron Mahkent, as well as the mysterious Rick Tyler, who has his fair share of secrets. When a new murder occurs, Beth decides to solve it, but wonders if there’s a connection between it and the murder she originally came to solve. Beth must juggle maintaining her friendships, solving multiple murders, and her growing feelings for Rick if she wants to survive to see the new school year.
Hournite Week Day 4: Jealousy
Rick's breath caught at the bright smile that spread across her face. And then he was reminded by the fact that the smile wasn't for him, but for another girl. Judy.
Judy had arrived in Blue Valley High a few weeks ago; the new kid just moved in from California with her mom in the middle of the school year. Beth, being the friendliest person in all of Blue Valley, quickly gravitated towards her and tried to make her feel comfortable.
"That's such a Beth thing to do," Courtney said when Rick told her that Beth was spending lunch with the new kid again.
"Beth has always had a soft spot for the outcasts and people who don't fit in," came Yolanda.
"Sylvester, Courtney, me... Cindy (eugh)," she made a gagging motion. "...And even you, Rick."
Rick stilled.
"W-what do you mean?"
"She's always spending extra time with you, giving you the granola bar in her lunchbox. The same one she never touches," she said that last part in a whisper. "AND she always spends more time with you than she does the rest of us."
"... so?"
"So..." Yolanda emphasised, dragging out the vowel. "She's always extra nice to us. It's just the goodness in her. Haven't you noticed?"
Rick looked down at his lunch, or what pathetic meal he had managed to put together by himself now that Matt was gone.
Beth used to give him her granola bar. And he just took it, barely questioning anything she did. He'd always thought that maybe she hated granola, but she did eat it that one time he put it back in her lunchbox because he wasn't hungry. Maybe she was just pitying him after all.
"Beth is just Beth, you know? Always ready to share her love to anyone who needs it. Now that we have each other--"
"And the JSA," Yolanda correctef.
"AND the JSA..." Courtney repeated. "I guess Judy's next," Courtney shrugged, taking a bite of her lunch and promptly spitting it out. "Eugh. What did Mike put in this?"
"I don't wanna know." Yolanda quipped as she avoided looking in Courtney's direction.
Rick turned his attention back to the scene in front of him. Beth has always had a soft spot for the weak, but that's all it is with Judy, right? It's not like she likes her or anything.
It's not like she likes you, either.
He swats the air around his head, as if trying to get rid of the thought. And that's when he sees it. Beth was blushing. In front of Judy. Or because of Judy. And they were standing way too close to each other.
"--yea, I mean, I wish it was true but..." Beth laughed awkwardly, her face turning a deeper shade as she says. "We're just friends."
"That can't be true, Beth," the other girl chuckled. "Anyone with eyes would know you're a great catch."
And then she punched Beth playfully in the shoulder.
Punched.
Beth.
PLAYFULLY.
That's it.
"Hey!" Rick said, a little too loudly.
"Oh! Rick!" Beth jumped a little, but quickly recovered. "I-I was just telling Judy about the movie we saw the other day. Turns out she's a big fan too! Just like us!"
"Uh huh..." He said, his eyes on the other girl, who is smiling innocently, as though she wasn't just flirting with Beth a few seconds ago.
"Yea, I heard it was a good film. Lots of action. And romance too," Judy raised an eyebrow as she turned her attention to him. "I've always been a sucker for romance."
"Oooh, you should come with us!" Beth interjected. "It's rare to find another fan--"
"No." Rick said.
"No?" Beth turned her attention to him, confused. "But--"
"NO." He repeated.
Judy looked a lot less rattled than he expected. She even looked... smug? "That's okay, I understand. They're special nights. I get it."
"No, you have it all wrong. Rick and I--"
"Are more than friends." Rick cut in, his arms enveloping Beth. His eyes were laser-focused on the enemy in front of him, daring her to challenge him.
Judy's eyes darted from Rick to Beth, and back again. Then she smiled. SMILED. At them both.
The bell rang.
"Oops. I forgot I have to go help Mr Diesinger after school. I think I better go--"
"But Judy, wait, I thought we were studying together after school!" Beth shouted after her.
"You've got a partner for that," Judy said, raising a peace sign over her shoulder as she casually walks away.
Leaving the two of them alone in the hallway.
"Uh... Rick...? What's wrong?" Beth asked, her voice shaking with anxiety. "Did something happen at home?"
He did not answer.
"Rick...?" She prompted. "You're scaring me. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," he said.
"U-uh... I need to get my books..."
"O-oh," he stepped away. "Sorry."
"It's okay," she said, grabbing a book from her locker and gingerly closing it shut. "Are you alright?"
"...yea. I just--" he started, then stopped. He ran his hand over his already messy hair.
"Did Matt come back?" She asked, her eyes wide with alarm. "Did he try to steal your things again?"
He let out a heavy breath. "No."
Her shoulders relaxed and she turned back to her backpack, rearranging its contents to fit the books before she put it back on.
"... But something precious was almost taken away from me," he said softly.
"What?" She asked.
"Nothing."
They turned and walked to the exit.
"Do you wanna hitch a ride home?" He asked, fiddling with the messy strands on the back of his head. "We could drop by Richie's before we head back."
"Sure," she beamed.
And all was right with the world again.
Hournite Week 2022: Day 5 - The 80s
In Rick's defense, Courtney forced him to do this starched hairstyle 😾. He kept complaining until he saw Beth walking down the stairs in her yellow dress, forgetting all the things that were pissing him off at that moment, including his own name 😢. Beth thought it was cute, she really liked his hair for some reason.
*confused Rick noises on the background 🤡*
I had no idea what to do about the 80s, but I remembered these school parties with those puffy dresses I saw in american movies. It's a cute concept.
That's my last contribution this year 🥺 and my favorite one!

The Booth
Hournite Week Day 4 - Jealousy
Summary: Beth sets up a kissing booth.
~.~
DAY 1
Rick does not hate this Blue Valley High event for once. Unlike dances like Homecoming or any other obnoxious pep rally during the football season, this was one of the only things that could get him to come back to school after hours. The back-to-school fair held every September had always been gratuitously sponsored by the American Dream. A Ferris wheel and bumper cars set up in the faculty parking lot, carnival games, food trucks and cotton candy stands littered along the front and back fields attracted wide-eyed double-ponytailed freshmen students and seasoned and otherwise bored BVHS seniors alike. Every past year, Rick would secretly supply beer for the popular kids drinking on the roof, the weekend always turning into one of his most profitable occasions.
He’d also sit on the roof, left alone, watching over the student population in bright colours and cheer uniforms scattered around below like ants.
This year would be the first time he’d get to be one of the ants and he could not help admitting to himself how good it felt enjoying the fair and belonging with friends on the other side.
The second Rick parked the Mustang, Yolanda and Courtney flew out of the car, making a beeline for the line to purchase a row of tickets.
Rick huffed and rolled his eyes, taking his time to catch up with them. Principal Sherman was in a t-shirt and baseball cap cranking up the sound system playing the top 40 and Yolanda was explaining to Courtney which food trucks to avoid. Rick cut through the line to some light protests, joining the two.
“Let’s get fries, I’m hungry.”

Hournite week day 5: 80's
The year is 1987 and young heroes Beth Chapel and Rick Tyler find themselves in a world full of unexpected change, and unexpected love. Their friends and teammates take videos of them on the old camcorder in an attempt to show their development as a couple. The footage is thought to be lost to time.
They actually just keep it locked in a safe box under the bed.
Now, Beth and Rick back at an old video tape from the days when they were still youthful. Eyes set on saving the world from unknown evils, and not on corralling their kids and worrying about what to put on next weeks grocery list. They miss it, sure, but they wouldn't change their lives for the world.
A Kiss On The Cheek ☆⌒ヽ(*'、^*)chu
Aww look at the cutest couple in Blue Valley (・ω<)☆
Flustered Rick anyone?
Ahaha but like for real, CW when will you let Hournite get together?!
Anywho... I thought it would be super cute and funny if like Rick drove Beth to school one day and she just kissed him on the cheek as a thank you... for no reason, just out of the blue (¬‿¬ )
ahaha don't mind me, ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_ i'm here... just doodling my hournite fantasies lol ___〆(・∀・)
Feel free to ask me some questions ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶, I'm planning on doing an introduction thingie... eventually when I get the time
Beth Chapel Doesn’t get Jealous
Hournite week day 4: Jealousy
(We’re already on day 4?? This is so weird to me it feels like we’re still on day 2)
…
Beth Chapel doesn’t get jealous. It’s not something she does. When she lost the 4th grade spelling bee, she didn’t cry or fight over the trophy. She went to go talk to the winner and learn how they’d learned how to spell charcuterie (A word she didn’t even know at the time, hence her loss.) The eighth grade debate team loss had a similar outcome, as did her loss at the talent show. Beth didn’t get jealous in any of those situations. In fact she was always happier for whoever did win. So what was so different now?
Well, a lot of things were different if she thought about it technically. This wasn’t her losing some stupid school competition, this was her losing Rick. Okay, maybe losing was a little too dramatic of a term, but really that’s how she felt. Ever since Cindy had decided to start sitting at the not-losers table, things had changed. Namely, Cindy’s ex-best friend Jenny Williams had started coming around again.
Hournite Week 2022: Day 4 - Jealousy
In this version, Joey didn't die and later on joined the JSA.
Rick didn't notice before, why he's noticing now?? Beth and Joey were friends way before all the superhero stuff, so there's no reason to be surprised that they were hang out and talking more often. But why does this closeness bother him so much? Why everytime they come together on the pat stop his heart aches a little? Why does that annoy him??? They're just friends!! Right??
Meanwhile:
- So... When will you talk to Rick? He's obviously jealous of us together 😬 - Joey asked, previously knowing about this oblivious pair by Yolanda and Court.
- Jealousy? What no, he just my friend 🥰😍☺️ - Said Beth lying to herself.
- Right... Friends... 🌝🤨
I don't know where I was going with this... but at least there's some context here 🙈 Also, didn't want to post this one, I didn't liked, but it's here anyway 🥴
