He probably shouldn't have felt that little thrill, seeing Chris' hackles go up like that. One of these days, Leon was sure, someone was just going to get fed up with his bullshit and knock his lights out. Probably not today, but then again, he'd already poked the bear. May as well see how far he could push.
"The armor just slows me down." Leon waved his free hand dismissively. "But if you think your guys are that good of a shot, feel free to try. Because I had that one handled. Been doing this just as long as you, remember?"
There it was, that arrogance that the guys at the B.S.A.A. had been talking about and Chris suddenly had a very hard time seeing the gentle, sweet young man that his sister had been talking about.
"You've been doing this as long as I have, hmm?" Chris repeated, slow and low and dangerous. "I looked into you. Got started on your police training in '97, finished, then fought to get assigned to Raccoon City. Thought you'd make a difference with the murders? That you, a wet behind the ears rookie, could do better than S.T.A.R.S.?"
His eyes narrowed. "I joined the Airforce in 1990. Saw actual combat. I've seen men die long before you got it in your pretty little head to play the hero. I've been S.T.A.R.S.' point man for almost two years before you put on the blue. So fuck off with the dick measuring, Kennedy. Because I will win."
