Recently, I have some thought on akuneko modern au:

1. After the Angels defeated, Aruji was back to their world. They no longer connected to the Butler's world through the ring anymore. But after a long time, when Aruji walking on road, they hear familiar "Aruji-sama!" call. As they turn their head back, to their surprised, it's their beloved main butler in charge and Muu, before Aruji can react, they rush in and hug Aruji tightly

2. Aruji was died during the Angel attack then reborn in modern time. The butlers discover them and trying to meet their Aruji again (sometimes when Aruji look at the butlers, they suddenly have some familiar flashback but they just think it's dejavu)

Hehe, it would be fun to create a modern series like Aruji and their butlers live in an apartment and live a slice of life and normal life like normal people

And these are such amazing ideas for the Modern AU! Cries it’s like happiness right after the angst, and I imagined how much efforts the butlers had to take in order to finally be in Aruji’s world.

Perhaps, just like how the ring took Aruji to them, they could finally find a way to cross into Aruji’s world too (it must have been something I hoped for every night they fell asleep) and maybe Muu is just like the black cat Aruji initially encountered in their world too, and Muu is like the guide for the butlers :3 I think it would be fast for the Butler to adapt to the modern world because he would want to stay with Aruji no matter what hehe

And for the second one cries it’s like reincarnation AU with no memories Aruji and butlers who have memories, and I think the butlers would slowly get close towards Aruji (trying to drop subtle hints to see if they remember and if they don’t, it’s okay, because you’re alright now) and it’s really sweet both Aruji and the butlers are now living in the same world 🥹💖

And for disabled Aruji, I would definitely do more research because I know there are Arujis who have chronic pain, persisting fatigue, with prosthetics or disability aids, or even mental disabilities/illness that would also affect their daily lives, and more, and I could definitely try to write about them if you were to request them 🥹 or if the Arujis were to talk some of their experiences, I could also based the HC off of them too hehe

One of the things I love about Akuneko is that they also have characters who have disabilities, such as Boschi who wears a prosthetic for his right hand and with his right eye who couldn’t see well at night, and I think with Lucas, he also has a cane. And with multiple butlers, they also have shown signs of mental disorders that also affect with how they face things.

And I wanted to ask, do you have any headcanons about the butlers being youkai? Who would be the kitsune youkai etc. If possible, I’d love to hear about it 🥺👉👈💕💕

[Akuneko HCs] Butlers as Yokais

I remember writing about Fennesz as a Kitsune before hehe most likely because i thought Fennesz’s name was close to a Fennec Fox and it just stemmed from there but if it’s like a HC for all Butlers, it might be different :3

I can imagine Bastien or Miyaji being Kitsune, consider Bastien has been called as “Kitsune Yarou” by Lono and “Kitsune-kun” by Lamli, and with Miyaji, he has fox ears and tails hehe

Berrien: Hone-onna (Bone Woman), even after death, Berrien couldn’t bear to see his partner being left alone. Carrying his former beautiful appearance, Berrien holds a peony lantern to seek Aruji and he continued to remain by their side until their last breath.

Lono: Futakuchi Onna (Two-mouthed Woman), as a connoisseur for food, Lono had wished that he would be able to enjoy more cuisines. Hidden behind his hair, he would secretly stuff food in his second mouth while he taste test with his first mouth.

Bastien: Kitsune, as a young, good Kitsune, Bastien would protect the humans who would offer him with delicious food and he would battle against the evil spirits for their sake. He’s the type who would remember and pay back favours. He enjoys huddling with other fluffy Yokais.

Haures: Inugami (Dog Spirit), pledging his loyalty forever, Haures would do whatever it takes to protect the family. He is a spirit who is diligent to his duties and he has heightened senses when it comes to danger.

Fennesz: Kyorinrin (Awe-inspiring Sutra), residing in libraries, Fennesz is made up of scrolls, books and scriptures that are left on the desk. He possessed strong knowledge of anything that is written with perfect memory. He often laments about the books that are left behind by owners and wished that more people could recognize such knowledge to use in their daily lives.

Ammon: Furutsubaki no Rei (Old Tsubaki Spirit), when a Tsubaki tree, or known as the rose of winter, withered due to old age, Ammon is born. He is able to separate himself from the tree, and he often enjoys playing pranks on the passerbys, his magic could trick others to become different animals and insects and he would eventually let them go back to their human forms when he’s finished with them.

Boschi: Hari Onago (Hook Woman). From afar, Boschi is seen with gorgeous locks of hair, but be careful not to get too close, for his hair can be like sharp locks to draw you in. He used his hair as traps for his hunts and he can enjoy delicious meat.

Lamli: Sunekosuri (Shin rubber Cat), mischievous and adorable in nature, Lamli is a cat which also resembled a dog. During raining times, you’ll see him hiding near puddles, playing pranks on people by rubbing on their shins, and the humans would have trouble walking.

Lucas: Amabie, as the symbol for warding off diseases, if you have an item related to Lucas, he can surely bless your health. Usually seen as 3-legged (perhaps it’s his cane), he travels by sea and carries interesting prophecies for people who seek him.

Nac: Maneki-Neko (Inviting Cat), inviting fortunes into the home, if you wish for good fortune and wealth, Nac will be able to bless you with all when you welcome him to your home. When Nac raised his right hand, it is said that he’ll bring on wealth, and when he raised his left hand, he can bring in customers to flourish your business. Nac is incredibly reliable who can help you through unforeseeable disasters.

Miyaji: Kokuko (Black Kitsune), possessing a pure, good heart, the wise Miyaji would grant guidance to those who feel lost. A rare, nine-failed fox who is powerful, yet peaceful in nature. He would wrapped his tails around those who are crying.

Flure: Tsuru Nyobo (Crane Woman), as someone who’s shy in nature, Flure wouldn’t come across a human until he was caught in a trap. He would transform himself into a beautiful human who repays the household with his amazing ability to create luxurious cloth to sell, he specifically asked that no one can see how he creates them.

Lato: Zashiki Warashi, Lato, who couldn’t seem to go outside, even though he really wishes to, would often run around the hallways. The happier he is, the luckier the household would be. Although, he does get bored easily, and he would make sounds for you to notice him and play with him.

Teddy: Kesaran-Pasaran, Teddy is fluffy and friendly, a healing spirit from the looks of his appearance, just by having him by your side will increase your luck 🍀

Hanamaru: Tanuki, Hanamaru, who often took the form of a human, would go to bars to host drinking contests to out drink the other humans. He is seen with a large sake gourd on his back, and he’s very carefree in nature. Although, whichever shop that he frequent will also be blessed with fortune.

Yuuhan: Baku, whenever you experienced nightmares, Yuuhan would be by your side, reassuring you that everything will be alright, while he feeds on your nightmares. He would watch over you quietly, and he wished that you could dream good dreams.

Beren: Bakeneko (Ghost Cat), shapeshifting himself to become a human, Beren often communicates with the other humans, he learned how to speak the human language through travelling between alleys, the stand owners would murmur secrets.

Shiro: Yukionna (Snow Woman), an ethereal beauty who appears in the snow mountains, if you don’t come close to Shiro, you would be spared. He has a snow barrier that doesn’t allow anyone to come close to him.

And sadly, we’re not exactly sure what happened because it was terminated by YouTube 😭 and Studio wasabi would have to try to send in an appeal to YouTube in order to get the channel back and from what I searched, they couldn’t reupload their original videos during this time else they’ll get flagged again.

I’m guessing either there was a violation with the YouTube rules or maybe it was a hacker 🥲

And her outfit is really pretty! I also love the gradient in her hair, her eyes reminds me of the moon and just like you said, since Columbina is the Moon goddess hehe she looks ethereal too with her smile, someone who is warm and powerful, and the moon orb on her hand looks really cool too, I wonder if she has abilities related to the moon 😳 does she use magic? I also like how her ribbon looks like a butterfly too 🥹

Hiii Lavyer hehe glad to see you again 🥹💖 and your Arujisama, Laviy, is super adorable and pretty! I love her hairstyle and the braids 🥹💖 and hehe I’m sure that the Butlers’ hearts would also be stricken by her beauty too and I can imagine how the butlers with braids would want to match together with Laviy <- and the butlers with short hair might also try to tie a short braid too hehe and I think the butlers with one sided longer hair strand like Laviy might also think that they are matching too

This is just a thought flashed through my mind, but i wonder if these is an aruji choose to hide their true identity (someone like Teddy, depressed inside and sunshine outside ☀️) after hearing Berrien and Lucas convo about their thinking of aruji's personality. They are mess already but hear Lucas say they will gain trust to help butlers destroy the angels, they completely wont trust them.

Thanking for your profread and translator's works, i just completed japan festival event reading, which butlers secretly protect aruji from assassins. I saw aruji trying to figure what is happening and seems like they already knew when looked at Boschi's drink. Comparing with imagine!aruji above, i think they knew from very beginning, but will hide it and enjoy the fes with butlers. "I dont know, what are you talking about☺️"

I can imagine butlers face after they find out...

And hehe, the Festival event is super fun to read too (and it’s also voiced in-game too! You can hear their voices and hehe it’s really fun to see them trying to hide from Aruji) and a special thanks to Selena (Kotegiris) who translated the event!

And for the Aruji who hides their true self, it’s really interesting from what you said hehe maybe this Aruji would appear friendly just like Ammon, but they are also distrusting too, especially with the Butlers they just met (they’re still strangers :3) and I think the Butlers would totally understand Aruji’s concerns, especially there are butlers who first joined the Butlers and are super distrusting like Ammon who wouldn’t even eat what the butlers gave him when he first joined.

So maybe the Butlers, they would see Aruji who still has a mask around them, and they wish that they could slowly understand Aruji better through their habits and interests, maybe there would be something real that Aruji would slowly reveal to them the more they trust the butlers, but right now, it’s only a professional setting where Aruji would assist the Butlers with the Angel Hunt. To that, the Butlers are already extremely grateful to Aruji, as they are willing to fight alongside the Butlers and save the Butlers’ life.

And even though Aruji hides their true self, I think the Butlers would still think of Aruji as kind, because Aruji is willingly to help them and they also wouldn’t harm or mistreat the butlers. So the Butlers might assume that Aruji would still be a kind person at heart.

I really like how you write and I LOVE angst so I want to ask you how would the butlers cry if they hold their emotions for too long

It sounded like a string broke in the back of their mind.

They have been holding onto their sanity the best they can behind their smile.

They can deal with the arrogant nobles, they can deal with the angry townspeople, they can deal with the angels.

It was something that they’re used to handling.

But when their bodies have taken a toll, under the heat, making their head aches, maybe from the cold wind, that they started to catch a cold, they could feel their body getting weak, and the moment they let their guard down, their demons would begin to torment them with thoughts, “if you don’t keep going, you’re going to be left behind.”

“If you don’t prove yourself as useful, you wouldn’t be able to be rely on.”

“What good is your existence?”

“Why are you still living?”

These thoughts would nag in the back of their mind as they rest in bed. Their heads already throbbed with pain, and these thoughts only made it worse.

They even saw their past family and companions in their dreams, maybe it’s because of the fever, but it felt like they could reach their hands out to them.

When they tried to grab their hand, their hand faded away like a memory.

As if they’re trapped in, they couldn’t help but let out their tears while in their long, gruelling dreams, hoping for an escape, because they couldn’t control anything.

The more they try to fight, the more they try to run, there was no way out.

And they could only give in to the ghosts and demons that haunt them, their hands pulling them down further into the puddle, their helplessness made them sob and mutter forgiveness from the dead and that one day, they’ll be reunited with them again.

Not now…

Because now they have someone they wish to protect with their life.

They wouldn’t know what to do if their most precious one were to get hurt…or even worst…they couldn’t protect them at all.

Inside the nightmare, these fears puffed larger.

Their stress is washed away by their tears, their pillows drenched.

When they opened their eyes again, they made sure no one was in the same room.

They took a breath in, then out.

It’s really funny to see how they’re all trying to remember the rules and where to run and what kind of ball they’re hitting (like foul ball, home run and such) and the butlers can play around like this just like regular people 🥹 hehe it’s a really cute login story and I wonder who would win at the end (Yuuhan said he wanted to add a strict rule to Hanamaru’s shock)

And OH if Flure made a cheerleader outfit for Aruji, and Aruji is cheering for both teams, you bet each team would try their very best to look cool in front of Aruji <- trying to get home runs every time and you don’t see the ball anymore coughs like Fennesz and you see the fast runners who are trying to get everyone to run to home base hehe

Or maybe some butlers are distracted by Aruji’s outfit and they ended up not catching the ball JSJSJ

And unfortunately, I think this is an apparent problem in Akuneko, because it seems like they have been using this type of background for a long time 🥲 even in the Home Screen Background now as well.

While Studio Wasabi is a small studio (19 people now), and there are a lot of games in Japan who utilized Ai backgrounds because there are free sites who offered them as “copyright free background”, it’s very sad to see that they would resort to this kind of option. They used to have amazing backgrounds in the beginning of the game.

I am scared that there might be more ai usage in terms of their art, stories and even voices. (Hopefully not, please don’t take this as an accusation or assumption because nothing is confirmed, this is just my own fear)

I have seen on their site that they have utilize Claude Code as well for their coding section.

Currently, for their promotion arts, they are still hiring artists to make merchandises and for the card arts, and there are illustrators who are in charge of creating the card arts and scenario writers who writes the event stories and card stories.

And cries Yuuhan for the demonization would be sad and interesting because we still don’t really know where Fubuki is, and while Yuuhan has started to put his revenge aside because he wish to focus more on Aruji and the Butlers, but I wonder if Fubuki would come back and attack Aruji 🥺🥺🥺

I remember Hanamaru saying how he wouldn’t want his fellow villa butlers getting demonized, it hurts him to think of that <- papa Hanamaru to the rescue

Hopefully they give Basement butlers a rest now 😭 (but I do want to know about Miyaji’s backstory too)

And since we have one from first floor, two from second floor, one from third floor (and the other one near), two from basement and none from villa (I’m not sure Beren counts), it’s highly possible just like you said, that there would be someone who could be demonized from Villa or maybe from third floor again 🥺 (maybe Lamli?)

I always love an inhuman Aruji, like they have a long lifespan. Yet they really love traveling to other worlds in past, they learning things that they don't know and fighting along with their companions.

Now Aruji was 'retired', their appearance still like that but they live like for a centure and now they have to travel to another world for the last time

Aruji sometimes talk about their past adventures, talk about how interesting of different worlds, how they make friends everywhere, how they fought against the villains to save the worlds to the butlers- Aruji's new family

Since Aruji is a fighter so they can't help but have some scars on their body from the fight with enemies in past. The old scars and wounds were scared the butlers and they had to bring Aruji to Lucas asap (help-)

Aruji is inhuman, and they have long lifespan. So they have to see their old companions whom just mere humans died for ages, they have to watch their loved ones died many times enough that they can't cried for them anymore. Sometimes, the old memories make Aruji can't sleep and stay up late, they can't help but share the pain of lost their companions to the butlers before get a comfort hug from him 🥺

And that’s such an amazing idea, Anon!

I can imagine the inhuman Aruji might lament about their long life, because they live past their companions’ age, so they could get lonely at times, especially during the night.

Maybe the wood in the fire would crackle and Aruji, who was on their adventure, would watch the sparks fly into the night sky, maybe as a blessing or a prayer for their past friends and families who once shared an adventure with them.

With the Butlers, maybe they would feel more relieved that there was someone like them, who they can accompany their long lives with.

As someone who has been through long battles, it’s a game of patience, and I can imagine both the Butlers and Aruji have been numb but when they slowly opened up to each other, they can share sorrows and worries with one another over a drink, and maybe that’s how they started to get to know one another better.

The Butlers could be a longer companions in the Aruji’s life, just as Aruji who would stay and fight along side with the Butlers.
