I view reading fantasy/sci-fi stuff as "this work of fiction is being translated into english so that I can understand it, meaning some phrases should not be taken literally" lord of the rings style, and then I meet people who nitpick every word or phrase that "shouldn't exist in this story" and I'm like wow you guys are truly miserable and unimaginative. and also you tend to assume that english words all popped up in the 19th century and you never bother to check the etymology of the words you're claiming "shouldn't exist in this universe"
like sorry but in an apocalyptic alternate-universe earth, the phrase "train of thought" is plausible even in a world without locomotives, because the word "train" comes from the 14th century, and it meant "to drag"
that's why we call dress trains "trains". because they drag. the word wasn't invented for locomotives.
y'all say shit so definitively like idk man I think it depends. the english language is OLD AS FUCK. a lot of words you believe are modern just aren't

I am not a "content creator" I am a writer and artist. I do not make the works that an audience demands, or that I think will be popular. I make the works that I'm passionate about, when I'm passionate about them.

y’all really recommend books like: title, there are gay characters, enemies to lovers, young adult, written by poc
not once do i ever see a summary
What more info do you need?
WHAT DO U MENA SUMMARY WHAT ELSE MATTERS ITS GAY POC AND ENEMIES TO LOVERS HOW OFTEN DO U CONE ACROSS THAT
i want to know what its about mainly. is it a romance? is there plot besides the romance? is it realistic fiction? sci fi? fantasy? historical? future? alternate history? whats the tone? what are the themes? what are the main characters’ NAMES?
“GAY AND/OR RACIALLY DIVERSE” IS NOT A GENRE. nor is it an indicator of quality
do you know how many times I’ve been recommended a book solely because “it’s queer fantasy!”
do you know how many times those books have been so poorly written that I couldn’t finish them
Mostly, I want to know the tone. A 19th century war story isn’t gonna do it for me when I’m in the mood for a lighthearted austenesque romance - and those are both historical. A star warsy space romp isn’t gonna do it if I want to read about interplanetary political negotiations - and those are both sci fi. A fun gratuitious don’t-think-about-it-too-hard action story is not the same as a dark and complicated mob drama. A suspenseful thriller will bore me if I’m looking for a fast paced spy novel.
not providing a summary literally just shows how you treat marginalized people and their representation as this token woke thing that you can show off like a shiny trophy. no, people aren’t going to read something just because it has representation! that’s not how it works!
Artist bio by Anna Daliza
ppl on this website will say that those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it and then recycle the same "This Marginalized Queer Group Is Actually Bad And It's Actually Okay To Bully Them And Harass Them" discourse every year like clockwork
having sex with your friends is so very normal please stop poisoning the youths minds with shame surrounding hooking up with your friends. especially if you’re gay
people are so fucking mad in the notes that adults have sex with each other and aren’t married sometimes. yall are carbon copies of your conservative parents and you’re so proud of it. ewwww
calling the sex I have with my friends “hookup culture” is insulting and incorrect. these are guys who take care of me and take me on dates and watch fun movies with me. being a disabled faggot too, they help me clean my place and take my trash out for me. they care for me and are on my emergency contact lists. trying to slap the label of “todays hookup culture!!!” on it is diminishing and devaluing those relationships
secondly, gay and bi men have been fucking all their friends and cruising and hooking up with total strangers since LLOOONGGGG before you were born and will continue doing so LLOOONGGG after you die. it’s never been a trend or a fad for us. It’s just a way of life for some of us and you aren’t going to change that by being disgusted by it
this tag has me in stitches
I think we need to let villains be camp again. “Ohhhhh it’s homophobic to always have the villain be camp!” Okay but it’s been like. So boring without them.
"I'm just a girl", "girl math", "girl dinner", "divine feminine energy", "bimbocore", "clean girl", "girl's girl", "girlfriend brain" SHUT UPPP!!! SHUTT THE FUCKKKK UPPPPPP !!!!

"to the bone" by Dorothy Allison
We really have lost the plot when it comes to pulp (by which I mean fiction that prioritizes the pleasure and enjoyment of the reader above all else.) It feels like a lot of modern books can't decide whether they are pulp or not, and that really limits them, because they get tangled up in anxiety about the nature of what they're doing and its moral or artistic value. To write great pulp, sublime pulp, you can have no illusions that your goal is pleasure - and we need pulp! It serves an essential social purpose - to give us space to explore our drives and desires that would be dangerous or impossible to live out in reality. It's psychologically essential.
it’s actually wild how terrified of the general public most usamericans are. like you don’t realize it if you’re someone who mostly walks and takes transit and spends a lot of time in populous public spaces but then you talk to one of the thousands of people that seemingly never set foot in any public space besides a parking garage or a starbucks and you suddenly understand why it’s so easy for fascist rhetoric about the dangerous alien to take root. this country’s median voter pretty much never interacts with strangers who aren’t their coworkers or people they met on dating apps
saw a post on instagram that was literally someone citing statistics saying public transit is one of the safest travel options out there and the comments were literally just “ummmmm op this is so ableist and misogynistic of you :) don’t you know the average public transit user is a dangerous violent criminal who wants to set you on fire :)))”
it must be so terrifying and sad to go through life convinced if you set foot outside your car in public or interact with people outside your nuclear family you’ll instantly be raped and robbed by the Evil Poors no wonder so many of these people are reactionary tar pits
i am so pro abortion it actually makes me mad when a character in a show is revealed to be pregnant & she immediately doesn't get an abortion
like you can always tell they're characters written by men when suddenly this carefree independent career woman starts talking about how wonderful it'd be to have a child & settle down booooo tomato tomato

I do have to wonder how many zionists realize that they’re permanently giving the term antisemitism boy who cried wolf connotations. The word is tainted to the point that I’m not sure it’s viable in discussions of actual antisemitism anymore. It’s really grim to be in a position as a Jew where every time I see someone describe something as antisemitic I have to spend 5 minutes digging through their profile before I can know if they’re being genuine
Btw I guarantee that if zionists on here find this post they’ll characterize me as a kapo who thinks antisemitism doesn’t exist
And like clockwork, the usual suspect arrives to do exactly what I predicted
They really haven’t learned to be subtle or believable when putting words in my mouth. I actually grew up experiencing antisemitism unlike half the zionists on here who are in progress converts. But sure, put an imaginary triple parentheses around what I’m saying, as if that means I was somehow saying it
I can’t emphasize this enough: zionists are the biggest factor in modern day antisemitism. They are doing everything possible to paint the rest of us collectively as baby killing genocidal monsters, all while doing everything possible to silence opposition in a way that lends itself incredibly well to the antisemitic narrative that we control the media
I have faced more antisemitism from Zionists on here than anyone else EVER.
Also Jews all around the world are at risk specifically because of Zionists and Israel
preserving this awesome comment before i blocked them for unrelated bigotry
not to kick the wasps nest harder but the notes on this post have revealed something fascinating: a surprising number of people seem to think the purpose of fiction is to trick them into believing its real—or at least HIGHLY plausible—rather than just telling an engaging story that everyone knows is fake. like the suspension of disbelief is a con pulled on rubes and the uneducated rather than a collaboration you entered when you picked up a piece of Big Fake Fiction To Entertain You
