Inde Navarrette as Nikki (Obsession 2026)
V/H/S/94 (2021) Segment: βThe Subjectβ dir. Timo Tjahjanto
"Preparing [for the role of Nikki] was really fun. We got to watch a lot of fun movies, and kind of pick and choose, like a puzzle, what we wanted in the film. Moments that we took inspiration from, and made them our own." β Inde Navarrette for Fandango "We watched Get Out, and focused on a lot of the moments where characters are showing an emotion underneath but saying something completely different [on the surface], and how horrific that is. There's a scene where [Nikki] is saying, "no", and there is a [similar] scene in Get Out [which we took inspiration from]." β Inde Navarrette for A Shot Magazine Obsession (2026) Dir. really humiliating trying to write horror like they went into the creepy house and there was a creepy ghost and the creepy guy with a creepy knife and everything was very creepy are you scared yet and thats like literally not how suspense and tension actually work but like all u can do is say well maybe something else was creepy?

what little discussion there is about the history of the horror genre monstering trans women that isnt being done by trans women fails to acknowledge that it hasnt really stopped. two years ago we were having the exact same discussions about long legs. the fact that people occasionally, begrudgingly admit silence of the lambs is transmisogyistic doesnt mean much when the genre cant stop pulling the same shit. its evident that we have not reconciled with the way horror does this because it continues to get celebrated when for continuing to do it.
