They rested their foreheads together, cradling each other’s face before Lestat pulled back to kiss his nose.

“It’s time for your birthday gift.”

“Lestat,” Louis sighed. “I told you I don’t need any more gifts. I have everything I could ever need or want right here with you, Viktor, and Claudia.”

“Indulge me, Louis. I love spoiling you.” Lestat gave him a wicked smile, holding out his hand for Louis as he stood up.

Louis smirked as he took his hand and let Lestat lead him to the piano.

They sat on the piano bench, Louis resting his head on Lestat’s shoulder.

“Happy Birthday, Louis,” Lestat whispered before kissing the top of his head.

He then began softly playing, and Lestat’s rich voice filled Louis’ heart.

Lestat ended the song as Louis wiped his tears and leaned in to passionately kiss Lestat.

“You wrote that for me?” Louis panted into his mouth.

“I did. That night….after Elaina….I just wanted you to know, Louis. I love you. You are the one. The only one. Always,” Lestat whispered with a tremble of emotion in his voice.

“Your Louis.…” Louis whispered hotly into Lestat’s mouth.

“My Louis.…”

“My Lestat.…” Louis commanded huskily.

“Your Lestat.…”

Louis deepened the kiss. Vigorously, sensually. Their tongues desperately dancing into the silk caress of each other’s mouths. Louis moved to straddle Lestat’s lap, his arms wrapping around his neck to take his tongue deeper into Lestat’s throat.

The kiss finally broke and they rested their foreheads together again, catching their breath.

“I have….one other gift,” Lestat whispered.

“I’ve got my gift in my arms,” Louis softly replied.

Lestat gave him a tender smile as he pulled a small red velvet box from his pocket. Louis pulled back, keeping his hands on Lestat’s shoulders as he presented the box to Louis.

Inside the box were matching emerald rings surrounded in white diamonds, set in gold.

Louis’ breathing hitched. “Lestat….”

“You told me long ago that one day you would legally,” Lestat said shyly looking down at the rings.

He took a deep breath and looked up at Louis with tears in his eyes.

“Marry me, Louis? So everyone will truly know. I am yours and you are mine. No longer just in name, but in the eyes of the law too. I want us to be a law, a covenant which can never be broken,” Lestat told him with complete reverence and devotion.

Louis was nodding before Lestat even finished the sentence. “Yes,” he breathed out, the tears coming hard and fast. “Yes, I’ll marry you!”

He launched himself back into Lestat’s mouth, the force so hard it sent them toppling backwards off the piano bench. They were laughing, crying, pawing at each other. Louis straddled Lestat on the floor and showered him with kisses.

“Happy Birthday, my sweet Saint Louis. I love you,” Lestat choked out between the tears.

“I love you, my Lestat. My husband. My law. My tenet. My covenant,” Louis breathed out between kisses.
