Shelby Merrick Y'all

Daisy: I wanted to off him, and the only reason I didn’t… was I didn’t think I could cry for the police.”

that this girl is actually one of the sweetest and most caring characters. and not even in a character development sort of way, but she just generally is really sweet and caring and such a good friend. she just does not accept people treating her or her friends like crap when they do not deserve it.

and like okay we all know that my favourite thing ever said about daisy is shelby’s line in ep 15 “You think if you tell everybody about whacking daddy with a seven iron, they’ll leave you alone.” which is super important bc it is really such a good description of daisy and all the ways in which she hides+copes

but there is this other line that is so telling about her which i don’t talk about much, (mostly bc i get v emotional about ep 17) “great, you’ll let me know when it has been two years”, which she says in regards to her father having been sober for two days. and honestly this is such a great line and really shows how forgiving she is and what she is like as a person. bc that line is her extending an opportunity for maybe creating something of a relationship which is something she does not owe him at all. And she does this in a way that offers him hope, but also makes sure that she is not sacrificing herself in order to do that. she is not here to help him through his recovery attempt, but if he proves that he is serious about trying that and changing things, then she is willing to at least hear him out and see whether she woud be open to creating some sort of relationship

and just daisy is extending so much here and offering it up while protecting herself and being so forgiving while standing her ground and refusing to let anyone disrespect her.

This is the video clip from one of the posts I included in my 10 Favorite Television Scenes prompt. This is the “Get away from me! Get out of my life!” scene from Season 1 Episode 15 of Higher Ground.  A.J Cook portrays Shelby Merrick; a 17 year old in a school for troubled teens. In this scene, it is revealed that her step father, who was sent to the hospital after having a heart attack, abused and molested her when she was younger. Hayden Christensen portrays Scott Barringer; Shelby’s boyfriend who was also molested by his step mother.
