i’m feeling really calmed by dml 2. i really am. after the frenzy of the last two weeks where i felt like i was slowly losing my mind because what !! is !! the video !!! going to be !!! but now that it’s out and phil has shared so much about his life and been so honest about where he’s been and where he wants to go, i feel so at ease. i don’t really know how to explain it. i went from ‘but what’s next? what are they planning??’ to this awareness of, they’re trying to enjoy their lives, as they should. there is no doubt that they are moving forward as a we and an us. there is no plan for them to separate their lives from each other or from their audience - they are just moving forward in a way that is more fulfilling not just together but as individuals and they deserve that. they are living more authentically now and have things they want to achieve in their individual lives that’s different but in no way less than before. they have supported each others ventures and the plans they’ve had for this world of Dan and Phil this entire time and that world isn’t shattered or being abandoned, they are simply expanding it and making space for it to grow and flourish even more.
i’m just so in awe of them. i’m so in awe of phil who - similarly to how i experienced coming out to you - shared these private parts of his life in a way that is both filled with emotion, funny, and also grounded? he expresses himself in such a centered and confident way that i can’t help but feel centered and grounded too. i’m excited for them. i’m not anxious about what the next video is going to be. i’m not worried about the ifs and whens of joint content (although trust that i will flail over selfies or whatever glimpses of jc we’ll get in the future) because they deserve the space to rest and let it come organically and completely of their own will without feeling forced or rushed or pressured. they deserve the space to breathe deep and full and easy. i’m just so excited and happy for them and what the future has in store for them.
this is in no way an ending. they really are setting the stage for be able to share their lives on their own terms moving forward and i’m so happy that they are at this place in their lives and with their audience to feel comfortable and ready to do that - whatever that looks like, whether it’s a door that’s just open a crack or a door that’s flung wide open.
i’m just so happy i’m here, tagging along for the ride.
