Dex couldn’t help but chuckle within response, his brow having risen as his arms remained encased around Rebekah’s frame, “I think he’s still sizing me up for now, but hey” he began, his shoulders offering a soft shrug, “my heart’s still in my chest, so I must be doing something right.” The blonde would be fooling himself if he attempted to say that the ever present threat of Klaus, or any of the other Mikaelson’s finding out about his hunting past didn’t unsettle him, but there wasn’t much he could do about that for now. The male rose his digits to brush the knuckle of his index finger against the apple of Rebekah’s cheek, his smile remaining soft as he relished within her beauty. He remained silent for a second or so longer, not wishing to ruin the moment before murmuring, “I guess all that’s left is Lex to butter up.”

“Ah yes but that’s better than 99% of the men I’ve been romantically involved with,” she teased lightly in response. “He also wouldn’t want to piss off his darling baby sister after everything we’ve gone through these last few years.” As Dex’s digits rose to brush his knucles against the skin of hercheek, a soft hum fled her lips and the blonde found that she couldn’t help but to lean into his touch, hues fluttering shut as he did so until his voice filled the space between them once more and they reopened to catch his gaze, a hardness settling within the cerulean color. “Right,” she scoffed. “Lex. You have fun with that.”

Kol watched his sister and shook his head a little. “I never said you couldn’t look out for yourself… but even you can’t deny we have been better together than apart in the past..” he started. “We still have so much to find out about this place, and what lurks here so being cautious isn’t a bad thing.. besides looking out for you is what a big brother does..” he admitted. He had stepped up to be more of the protector for the family since Elijah and Nik had sacrificed themselves.

Cerulean hues rolled slightly as a defiant shake of her head was offered. “In the past, sure,” Rebekah mused. “But that was against our enemies that flocked in great numbers. I think I’m more than capable of handling a handful of arses.” Offering a shrug, Rebekah simply pulled her gaze away. “Personally, I feel myself and my family are safer here than back home,” she admitted. “I’d be fine with not returning back to our realm. I don’t need protection, Kol. I’ve got Dex for that and even him I don’t need to protect me, at least for now.”

It was practically impossible to deny the smile that crept upon his face as Rebekah expressed how truly loved and cared for Dex made her feel. Klaus gently swayed with the baby boy in his arms as he followed her gaze to the young girl across the room. “I think I would like that, Sister.” He spoke softly. Never in a thousand years had a ‘normal’ family seemed  possible for the Mikaelsons, but as Klaus spoke to his sister on such a casual level it continued to present itself as ever the more possible reality. Perhaps someday.

Bex’s gaze had settled on the young girl for a moment, a faint smile gracing her lips before her attention returned to her older brother and son, adoration flooding her cerulean hues as she gave a nod. “Perfect,” she mused. “I fear it’s been far too long since we’ve had a family dinner. Should I invite the others as well?”

Rebekah’s comment prompted for a soft chuckle to ease from Dex’s lips, before he drew a subtle inhalation, merely enjoying their proximity. “Is that so?” he taunted, his brow having risen as he began to slow their movements, his hand within her own as his thumb caressed the side of her palm. He could feel his eyes falling half lidded as Rebekah’s digits teased through his locks, a subconscious hum of contentment fleeing his lungs as he leaned his features closer towards hers, “how’d I ever get so lucky, huh?”

A simple hum was returned in response to his taunt, a subtle nod of her head following as their movements slowed and Bex found her body moving ever so slightly closer to the blonde’s own frame, a content smile against her lips as she gazed up at him. As Dex’s features lowered towards hers, blue hues fell half lidded to galnce at the male’s lips for a moment even as he spoke, a smile against her lips as her gaze slowly rose back up to meet his own. “You lucky,” she questioned. “I believe I’m the lucky one in this relationship. I’m completely and utterly in love with you and you’ve met my darling brother Niklaus and survived him so it is I who has luck on their side.”

Elijah being a family orientated man felt the one person who might want to know most of all about his current engagement would be his younger sister, he had yet to see her since coming to the island. Their paths having not crossed he sought out to change that, finding her was no hard task. Knocking on the door he waited patiently, fixing his tie and adjusting the arrangement of flowers in his hand. When the door opened he offered a smile, “Long time, Rebekah.”

The knock at the door was unexpected as the blonde peered up and over her shoulder from where she sat on the floor with the kids playing. Pushing herself up, she slowly made her way to the door, hesitant to open it before she finally did, her older brother quickly coming into view as a sigh of relief fled her lips and a smile formed. “Elijah, my dear brother,” she greeted, blue hues falling to the flowers in his hands before meeting his gaze and stepping aside to welcome him inside. “Please, come on in. I’ve missed you. Excuse the mess, the kids are playing.”

Ever since catching wind of the latest news, Davina had foregone going outside and locked herself in their temporary home.  As she’d suspected from the first time she’d met the queen, Avalon was out of control in the same way that New Orleans had been once upon a time.  It had been a while since those days, but she had no intention of living that way again.  Clearly Kol was in danger, as were all of them to one degree or another, and she had no intention of allowing harm to come to them.

Leaning over the small table in front of her, she focused on a spell that was just on the border of black magic.  A protection spell, with a little something extra laced into it.  Rather than the expected reaction, though, the table burst into flames instead.  Summoning water, Davina soaked it down and cursed under her breath, just in time for the door to open behind her.

“It’s fine,” she pronounced.  “Nothing to worry about.”

A brow perked slightly as Rebekah stepped into the home, the smell of burning wood wafting in the air as the witch spoke and amusement crossed the Original’s vampires. “Yes, it would seem everything is fine,” she teased. “Burnt table and all.”

Rebekah’s hips were guiding Dex’s, causing for a soft smile to ease upon his features as he leaned his forehead forwards to rest against her own, “just handing out that high praise, huh?” he teased, a chuckle passing into the minimal space between their lips as he continued to move with her. “You really are beautiful, Bex.”

“Only when it’s earned,” she mused back, blue hues meeting his matching pair as they continued to move with the music. The rhythm between the two was unmatched by anyone in Rebekah’s past life. She had fallen in love plenty of times but none had made her feel more- human- than Dex did. “And you, my love, are ridiculously handsome,” she retorted as her arms moved to wrap around his neck, one hand allowing for her digits to ease into his blonde locks as a smile formed against her lips. 

Dex’s features soon lit up as Rebekah entertained his requests and one hand rested against the small of her back and his free hand took hers. Their frames moved within a rhythmic motion and Dex was surprisingly nimble upon his feet. He chuckled in light of her comment, offering a slight shrug of his shoulders as he raised their hands and spun her around, before bringing her frame back towards his. He was eager to greet her with a kiss, before musing against her lips, “you’re not so bad yourself.”

The laughter fled from her lips with ease as the male spun her around, a smile forming it’s way permanently against her lips as he brought her frame back into his own, one hand landing against the nape of his neck while the other remained interlocked in his own. “A thousand years of practice,” she hummed against his lips. “I would surely hope not. Though can’t say I’ve had a better partner than you.”

The eye roll that the male pulled from the blonde was more or so for mere dramatics. She didn’t mind dancing, especially with him, by any means. The eventual succumbing to his pestering words, his never ending attempts to get her up and dancing pulled a smile across her lips as she let out a deep sigh only to further hide the fact that she was more than willing to get up and dance before she finally allowed for him to pull her to her feet and pull her in close to his frame. An amused grin remained against her lips as she shook her head and allowed for a laugh to leave her lips, her own frame falling in rhythm with Dex’s own as blue hues glanced up at the male. “I suppose you aren’t too bad a dance partner,” Rebekah teased.

The grin that had formed across her lips as she shut the door to their children's room and turned to find the male with the most ridiculous set up in their current living room was only followed by a soft laugh, moving forward towards him as she shook her head at the male. "What is all this," she questioned, glancing around them only to turn back and find the male on a knee a with a ring. Eyes widened slightly as a nearly inaudible laugh left her lips. While they had mentioned it a few times in passing recently, it wasn't really something she had been expecting, at least not any time soon especially considering their current predicament. "You know things are only going to get crazier from here, right," she questioned. "Are you sure you really want to marry into the Mikaelson family?"

Dex tugged on his pants, readjusting himself in the mirror of the wardrobe as he gradually began to turn himself back towards Rebekah, “you know we should really leave this cottage, right?” His words possessed an air of taunt as a soft smile caressed his features, “i’m almost certain that I can promise you i’m not going to be eaten by another sea creature if we do go outside.”

The large button down that adorned her torso merely covered what needed to be covered as the blonde moved closer to the male, hands sliding across the bare skin of his back before placing a gentle kiss against his bare shoulder. “Why should we,” she questioned. “We’ve got everything we need right here.” A subtle sigh passed her lips as she moved to allow him to turn towards her, blue hues rolling slightly as she shook her head. “You haven’t heard the news have you,” she questioned. “The vampires that have been persecuted.”

Brows creased slightly as the blonde moved closer to the male, hands moving to cup his face and force his gaze upwards to meet her own and she gave a shake of her head. "Hey, I'm not going anywhere, Dex," she assured him. "Not anytime soon at least. I promise."

"Okay but I said that I was fine, Kol," the blonde retorted. "I can protect myself, I am a bloody original vampire too you know."

With a soft nod of agreement, Dex placed an attentive kiss atop of Rebekah’s head, “always the charmer” he teased, mumbling into her blonde locks before easing himself backwards. “Lets go get the kids, huh? – I’m sure Jules is gonna love her new bedtime story, about how dad got puked up by a whale.” A soft chuckle soon accompanied his words and Dex enclosed his arm around Rebekah, despite her protests for his odour, before placing another attentive kiss against her temple. “Lets get out of here.”

A hum was quick to flee the blonde’s lips as blue hues fell shut, an amused grin forming across her lips. “Always and forever,” she teased before giving the blonde a nod. “Please. Oh no doubt she’s going to live for this bedtime story. I, however, would much rather forget this even happened.” As Dex’s arm enclosed around her, the blonde’s digits instantly gripped at the material of his tee, instantly leaning into his side despite the stench that was rolling off of him from the whale. Normally, Rebekah would’ve kept her distance from anybody in the male’s state but the desire to keep him close and the amount of love she felt for the man far outweighed her disdain for his current stench and appearance. “Let’s.”

“No, I suppose I cannot.” The man mused and gave a soft, lighthearted chuckling. His sister had always desired a family of her own; to love and be loved in return just as passionately as she did. For the longest time, he never allowed her to do so - always tightening her leash, so to speak, out of fear she would turn her back on him and forget about him to focus on her own family. It had taken a long while, but he had finally managed to develop enough of an independence to let her be free. And she seemed happy. That was all that truly mattered.

“Faulty or not, these papers are useless to me.” He sighed, but when she offered the young boy to him, the hybrid gladly took the little guy into his arms with a warm smile. “Hello there, little one. I’m your Uncle Klaus. I’m gonna be here to be the boogeyman to your boogeymen.” He grinned as Henry cooed lightly. “Yes, there is a certain… tolerable quality about the man. I will admit it.” He hummed as she mentioned Dex.

“There is a daughter as well?” He questioned curiously, looking over at his sister. “I really should spend more time visiting family, I suppose.” He sighed.

A smile was quick to form as her brother took the young boy from her arms, an admiration quickly forming across her features as her gaze took in the scene as it unfolded. How her brother had gone from the big, bad hybrid to a slightly more domesticated version was something she had never thought she’d see, something she had long since given up on unlike Elijah until Hope had come into the picture. “He’s more than tolerable, Nik,” she mused. “He treats me well and I’ve never felt more loved in my lifetime than I do with him. He filled the void that you and Elijah left behind. He helped me find true happiness.” 

The mention of her daughter only pulled her smile wider, her blue hues pulling from the male to the little 7-year-old that was currently sat criss-cross applesauce on the floor with a massive book open in her lap. “Juliette,” she told her brother with a nod in her direction before pulling her gaze back to the male. “You don’t say? Why don’t you join us for dinner, Niklaus? We’d love to host you.”

The amount of work involved in looking after Nik had doubled without Keelin at her side, but Freya was grateful that at least he’d come with her on the journey.  Without that, she may truly have gone insane.  On the plus side of the ledger as well was how much of her family was present, as evidenced by the way she’d left the home she was staying in to visit her sister that morning.  Rebekah’s smiling face brought one to her own as she was pulled into the hug.  “Hello, Bex,” Freya’s words were a thankful prayer as much as a greeting.  “It’s some kind of spell, I’m almost certain - the moment no one’s looking at him he grows an inch.”  Stepping inside, she eased her shoes off and looked around the comfortable home.  “How are you?  All things considered?”

As her sister entered, Bex quickly shut the door behind them moving to set Henry down with his sister to play before her attention returned the witch. “A spell for certain,” she grinned. “I believe the same one was put on Henry. It’s hard to imagine he was ever as small as a newborn at one point now.” Busying herself in the kitchen as she fixed them both a mug of a tea, Rebekah’s grin soon faded, a sigh easing from her lips as she returned to the living room and passed Freya one of the mugs before seating herself down on the couch, feet tucked beneath her as she cupped her own mug of warm tea. “I’m- adjusting I suppose,” she admitted. “I admit it’s a lot easier having Dex and the kids here with me but I still worry about what it is exactly that brought us all here. Nobody seems to have an inkling and it’s rather unsettling. How about you? How are you doing with this whole situation? Still no sign of Keelin?”
