“You never know dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away,” Veronika sang softly, her newborn son’s head resting against her chest. His tiny hand gripped her finger as she placed a soft kiss on his head. “I promise when we get home I’ll play you a version of that song by someone who can really sing,” Ronnie said quietly. “Your Mom is a much better dancer than she is a singer…” Mom. She was a mom. It was such a strange thing to think about, one Ronnie was still having difficulty wrapping her brain around. A soft knock at the door pulled Ronnie from her thoughts as she looked over and smiled at the familiar face.
“Come in,” Ronnie insisted, doing her best to sit up without disturbing Nathan sleeping. “Though I warn you, one look at this kid and you might never leave.”
Honor walking into the hospital room, her smiled beamed from ear to ear. She was so excited to hear the news that Veronika had given birth to a healthy baby boy. As she walked in she placed her gift on the side.
“Trust me I was expecting it. Congratulation Ronnie. He is beautiful. You must be so proud. You’re glowing.”
“You’re a mommy. It’s shocking to think the day has actually arrived, you actually get to hold him in your arms. I’m so proud of you” Honor said, almost emotionally. She couldn’t honestly remember the last time she felt this proud of someone.
