                                                                               “ Excuse me, Ma’am? Would you like help with that? “    He smiles brightly upon his offer, waiting for a response... Young Tanjiro always had a willingness to help others, no matter how big or small the task.

     !  !  !  She  may  have  won  this  battle  ,  but  it  seems  he’s  continuing  the  war  .  Nezuko  wraps  both  hands  around  the  finger  poking  ,  eyes  going  wide  in  an  attempt  to  intimidate  .  It  …  really  just  looks  a  little  silly  ,  though  .  No  .  No  poking  .

     Gaze  falls  ,  expression  growing  soft  once  more  once  their  hands  connect  .  Warm  .  One  of  the  few  comforts  she’s  felt  since  her  turning  .  It’s  been  heartbreaking  in  ways  she  can’t  express  –  witnessing  their  family’s  slaughter  …  desperately  holding  on  to  the  hope  that  she  could  protect  at  least  one  of  them  ,  only  to  feel  life  slip  away  before  the  pain  coursed  through  her  blood  .  She  couldn’t  protect  them  in  this  life  ,  but  their  souls  live  on  .  She  knows  they  do  .  Wherever  they  go  ,  she  feels  them  .

     Hungry  …  If  only  they  could  have  meals  together  like  they  used  to  .  Brows  furrow  before  she  shakes  her  head  ,  slipping  free  of  his  grasp  to  retreat  back  under  her  blanket  .  Any  brighter  ,  and  she’ll  have  to  shrink  herself  even  more  …  “  …  Don’t  …  long  …  “

                                                                  He understood the begging in her voice... Losing their entire family, which only seemed yesterday rather than a few years ago. That trauma will forever linger with the pair, and poor Nezuko... experiencing it first hand, being forced to become this. And everyone treating her so poorly, and just for being a demon? She’s nothing like them, he’ll spend every waking breath making sure people see that while simultaneously protecting and trying to turn her back...! Nothing will stop him, not even every demon in the world, the Hashira, nothing. 

      Two  years  is  bare  minimum  after  having  to  go  through  becoming  a  demon  .  I’m  on  your  back  .  Let  me  rest  .
