The Honeycomb Colony

Hi everyone, it's Scream, @rooted-clangen's creator!

This is the Honeycomb Colony, a clangen run that follows the Bee/Wasp Challenge (with some tweaks). It starts with some heavy themes and may have characters that are unlikeable, even deplorable, but I expect them to be treated maturely with no nicknames or censoring.

Locustflower struggles with the fact Stumppaw is 9 moons now. She thinks back on her own life, and on how she was raised... how can she make sure Stumppaw is living happily, when she feels so lost hereself?

Doepaw!! My baby girl, I love her so so much! It might not be clear here, but she has exotropia cross-eyedness.

A bit of insight into the first few days after they settled, and before they met Stumppaw. A lot of conflicting feelings.

Locustflower had no real ability to go to the Singing Stone and speak with the Stars- she has no idea where it is exactly even- and despite efforts no Starclan cats would enter her dreams and help. So while Locustflower is considered leader, she has only 1 life and rejects the -star suffix. As the colony grows, she'll be refered to as Queen Locustflower.

Really good questions that I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to address fully in the comic given it isn't going to be as in depth as Rooted or Bisonclan, so I'll answer here. I am trying to avoid this clan being outright transphobic or enbyphobic if possible, which is a bit odd given context i know lol. This is subject to change!

Right now, social standing is determined by a member's gender identity. Any nonbinary cats that do not associate with she or he pronouns are considered a bit of both socially and made into mediators.

Transitioning is a bit side-eyed if it's from one binary to another, though becoming nonbinary isn't judged. For ftm, it's considered baffling and almost insulting as masc cats are "dangerous and lesser". For mtf, it's met with suspicion and most will be wary until they prove themselves 'safe'. There may be exploration of a male cat socially identifying as female to 'live normally' and dealing with that dysphoria, but I'm not set on that yet...

"The patrol comes across a WaveClan apprentice, waiting quietly at the border. When the apprentice notices the patrol, they press themself to the ground, begging to join The Honeycomb Colony. The patrol brings the apprentice back to camp where xe are accepted into the Clan. Although, this doesn't help relations with WaveClan."

As for Gullfur- he's not a cat I'd defend, but I will say that he's a product of his upbringing and clan culture. He, unfortunately, doesn't recognize what he did as wrong- it's what his father did, and his grandfather before that, and so on. For him, it's tradition- wrong or not, he has no real reference... maybe he can change.

The Reward: 1st place is the official comic cover on CF and made the banner here, and can create a canon character that will be added! All others will be displayed every 6 moons as a half-year marker until none are left.
