mamdani is such a good politician, of course he'd be a dsa darling-- directing the municipal government to dispatch singular bandages to systemic problems when he gets @ed online to generate popular approval, he's literally a pressure-release valve for class anger like the rest of the dsa while doing nothing to actually address those issues on a systemic level or mobilize the working class to agency. it would be so fucking easy, he already built an army of motivated young staffers for his campaign, he could mobilize that same force to build workers' and neighbourhood councils. but he's working from within the democratic establishment, so any action that has genuine teeth and class character is off the table. he's just so good at seeming like a class fighter even i would want to like him if i weren't a Marxist and thus recognize him as a charlatan who will be recuperated just like bernie and ocasio-cortez.
