Skylar placed himself down on the wooden bench, a low creak sounding as he did. One hand gripping a Starbucks cup, the other reaching up to adjust his sunglasses.
Skylar was particularly thankful for the cooler weather, it gave him an excuse to wear as many long-sleeved shirts as he liked. And though anything that might be incriminating was healed, there was still the issue of scarring. That was something he was particularly ashamed of. What didnāt fit, however, on that dreary day, were his rounded sunglasses.
The musician wasnāt, particularly into fan meets. It wasnāt that he didnāt like his fans, no he owed his entire life to them, but there was so much that had happenedāso much dramaāthat Skylar didnāt think his anxiety would allow for him to properly interact with them. So, he hid his face.
They werenāt antisocial by any means though, wellā¦. Not intentionally. The days and weeks spent in his home with Yoosung hadnāt really been in boycott of the outside world, it just seemed that two newlyweds had every right not to want to share each other with the world but Yoosung had work and Skylar had to figure some things out.
At the presence of motion in his peripheral vision, they jumped a bit, a blush rushing over their features.
āOh, sorry, didnāt see you there.ā
Legs crossed at the ankles, Kihyun was taking a moment. He seemed to be doing a lot of that latelyāhis days were spent in bed, summoning the effort to actually get out of it in order to head to his night shifts. But today, today was differentāit was his to do with as he pleased. And so, he didnāt remain inside the apartment that was littered with the messes of the night before, and instead endeavoured to get some fresh air. He didnāt feel GOOD, exactly (this hangover seemed to be lasting for days), but he felt⦠okay. Kihyun didnāt know what spurred this change, but he was going to enjoy it while it lasted.
He should have brought bread. Ryan had always told him that bread was bad for the ducks, but Kihyun waved away his brothersā concerns. Wasnāt it normal to bring stale bread to the park? Kihyun dug inside his pockets as one waddled toward him, but it kept a wary distance. He pulled out a half eaten breakfast bar, and brushed away the lint that clung to the crumbs.
Kihyun broke the treat in pieces, and tossed it towards the duck. The bench dipped beside him, and it wasnāt until Kihyun had finished watching his little friend regard his gift curiously did he turn to see who had joined him. Kihyun hadnāt expected the other to jump, and in response, his eyebrows rose.
āIām not that scary,ā A joke, a feeble one at that, but a testament to how good his mood seemed to be. A rare occasion. Kihyun would ask if the other had a lot on their mind, but his generosity didnāt extend that far.Ā āWell, actually, that depends on the people you ask. They may say otherwise.ā
A blush painted Skylarās features for only a moment as they attempted to calm the embarrassment that came with this reaction. He was a tad hazy, his mind often struggling to keep up with everything at all times. Had he seen the other before he sat down? He couldnāt seem to remember. A small frown on the musicians lips.
āNo, I donāt think youāre all that scary, but who knows.ā A light shrug as they took a sip of their coffee, sunglasses clad eyes scanning over the duck that had taken a liking to the other who resided on the bench.
āAre others small animals, then? Cause Iām pretty sure youāre one of the few people that havenāt intimidated me right off the batā you just had a Snow White moment with that duck.ā Skylar gave a soft chuckle.
Long legs stretched out in front of him, thin fingers reached up to push the glasses on top of his head, relieving some of the stress that had been on his eyes. Skylar never seemed to want to wear his glasses and the low lighting due to the cloud coverage plus the darkness from the heavy duty brown lenses made an ache start in what seemed to be the back of his eyes. It was a strange and annoying feeling and Skylar highly doubted at this point that the sunglasses would have protected his identity to any extent. But at least he had tried.

Skye had absolutely hated the subway. Not that Eun-Jae could blame the tiny dog, because some bad smelling guy had been eyeing the both of them for most of the ride, causing the Pomeranian to start growling and the boy to hold the animal closer against his chest. It had probably been a bad idea to leave the familiarity of Queens with his dog in tow, but Jay was a bit tired of walking the same streets and had originally thought that maybe Skye would have loved to see more of the city. Now that he was wandering around in Manhattan, he was regretting that decision.Ā
His mood was instantly lifted, however, when he spotted the familiar tall figure on the bench. Had he deliberately traveled to Manhattan in the hopes ofĀ āaccidentallyā walking into Skylar again? Maybe.Ā
There was a skip in his step as he walked over, dragging the small dog along on her leash, though the fluffy animal was pulling at it in an attempt to walk in the opposite direction.Ā āHey!ā He replied with a bright smile, ignoring the tugging of the dog.Ā āItās okay, youāre very tall and Iām not.ā Jay shrugged and invited himself to sit down on the bench, lifting the dog up from the ground and placing her onto his lap despite her wiggling.
āHave you met my pup?ā
Skylar couldnāt help the fond smile that pulled over his lips as the pink haired boy settled into the bench next to him.
Jay was a soft boy who had caught Skylarās attention solely because he was so gentle in mature and reminded Skylar of himself in ways that he couldnāt fully explain. A hand reached up, ruffling the soft pink locks. āWell, hello to you too. Long time no see.ā He commented as he pushed the sunglasses up to rest on top of his head, bangs pushed back along with them. He took another sip of his drink before taking in the wiggling puppy. God, Jay reminded him of a small child in the way he did things. āNo, I donāt think I have.ā He mused, the hand that had pet the small boyās head now moving to do the same with the puppy. āItās nice to meet you, little friend.ā He said in a soft tone, the corners of his eyes wrinkling just a bit as his wide smile pulled across his features.
āYou know, Iām just that Baggie and Marble miss you like crazy. You should come by sometime and introduce this pretty puppy to them, Iām sure they would love a play date.ā Skylar felt like he needed to include Jay in his life as much as possible when they ran into each other as their time together was always so brief. Skylar couldnāt seem to get the image of the other crying and confessing his sexuality to Skylar as if they were long time friends, and it took the musician a good few days to realize that to Jay, they had been. Skylar didnāt know Jay personally until recently, but his music had been Jayās connection to him and that had made their friendship as steadfast as it was now.
Skylar rested his head against his spouses shoulder, eyes scanning over the magazine they had been reading for the better part of thirty minutes. Skylar generally wouldnāt mind but he was feeling exceedingly clingy, a small pout resting on his lips as he tried to focus on the words on the pageā something about the font made it nearly impossible for him to focus on. A sigh passed his lips. He wanted Yoosung to pay attention to him right then.
Thin arms wrapped around the blondes upper body, face pressing playfully into his neck. āYoo,ā He whined, giving his lover a light squeeze. āPay attention to meālook at me.ā Skylar knew they Yoosung generally paid lots of attention to him, in fact he was pretty sure neither one of them did much else outside of cling to each other when Yoosung wasnāt working. But Yoosungās work schedule had gotten to be more than Skylar was used to as his popularity grew. He should have expected it though; Yoosung was an artist in his field and though Skylar knew he would have been fine on his own, the fact that the person he married happened to be a multiplatinum recording artist didnāt hurt.
Skylar had been bored though. There wasnāt really much to do without Yoosung around. Mornings that had been spent wine tasting and lazing about naked now were spent taking their pets for walks, cleaning up as much as needed, and then getting frustrated each time his hands failed him. His accident had left him with less strength in his hands and it became increasingly difficult to press down the strings on his guitar. His fingers just got so tired and Skylar was having a hard time finding the energy to try anymore. All of that plus the added excitement that his new medications gave him left him practically vibrating with needs for attention, affection, and something to do constantly.
āCan we do something fun? Anything at all. Iām bored.ā A light kiss beneath his spouses ear as he leaned over the back of the couch. āThere wasnāt anything on tv and baggie doesnāt want to play with me.ā

hcsecktaeā:
Hoseok gave a small nod.Ā āI⦠understand.ā He replied quietly. He knew all too well how terrifying it could be to have to go outside, how hard it could be to talk to people. Though he didnāt think heād ever met anyone who felt that same way. Could it be that heād finally found someone who knew what it was like? How hard it was to be outside? How exhausting it was just to socialize for a few hours? Saeran understood anxiety, but Hoseok knew his friend also just didnāt like people. But the brunet wanted to have friends, wanted to do fun things and see the world. He wanted moreĀ than just the adventures on white pages ā more than just the ideaĀ of a life.
He licked his lips, picking at his sleeves.Ā āYou just⦠wanna make music?ā He then asked.Ā āWithoutā Without the⦠public stuff?ā His hands moved to pick at his wristbands again. He was trying to understand Skylarās point of view, though he personally couldnāt exactly imagine being famous enough to be recognized in public. Even just the thought of it made him anxious, however.
āG-Guess itās too late to⦠do something like Sia. You know, the⦠wigsā¦ā He attempted at a joke, a nervous smile tugging at the corners of his lips, though it quickly fell again as he continued to stare down at his hands.Ā āI⦠I wish people would⦠understand.ā He then said quietly.Ā āAnxiety, I mean. Itāsā It doesnāt mean youāre⦠bad or⦠anti-social, itās just⦠hard. To be social. To⦠smile and⦠enjoy stuff.ā Hoseok felt a slight blush on his cheeks, realizing heād rambled a little.Ā āBut it⦠doesnāt mean youāre not. Li-Likable, I mean.ā
The brunet chewed on his bottom lip, only startled from his silence as a waitress came over to their booth to get their orders. Hoseok stiffened a little and swallowed hard.Ā āAh, Iā Just⦠a glass of water?ā He hesitantly breathed out, hoping that wouldnāt be too expensive.
A smile found itself pulling at Skylarās lips as it seemed the other understood. āYeah, I guess itās a little late for that all of that but⦠I just, like making music. The other stuff that comes with it stresses me out, though. If I could go back and do it over⦠I think I would do it on my terms.ā
Skylar hadnāt really ever been able to explain the nerves that made it so hard for him to go out, all they really knew was that they didnāt like it. It didnāt feel secure or safe. It also didnāt feel safe. There were other people who Skylar didnāt know in the world, and though heād managed to meet a ton of good ones, there were also the ones who he found himself glancing over his shoulder for. People like his dad who scared him to no end.
āCan I just get a caramel latte? I hope thatās okay.ā Skylar said to their server, one hand reaching up to ruffle their particularly long and messy locks. Once their orders had been placed the musician turned their attention to their companion, fingers twisting around their wedding ring slowly. āAh, I can payāI mean, it really isnāt an issue,ā Skylar said quickly. They realized that it seemed they were always offering to buy the other things when they came upon each other, but Skylar tended to have much more money than there ever knew what to do with. It only made sense to help those around him. They also vividly remembered the first time the two of them had spoken, the dark-haired boy had been short on funds for the books they had wanted.
At this point in their lives, Skylar couldnāt imagine not having the money to have the things they wanted. Years ago, they had been very used to that, but now that wasnāt a problem. They wanted to help Hoseok however they could.
honestskyesĀ·:
Skylar knew he shouldnāt be this damn winded. He just was nowhere near as healthy as his lean body seemed to suggestāhe was painfully out of shape. His body was ruined from years of being mistreated and he really wouldnāt blame it if it just gave up on him. A large had rubbed at his chest, which still felt like it might burst and took a small step in the direction that the boy did, almost mirroring his actions.
āSorry, really. But we can go a-anywhere, that youāre okay with. Just need a minute.ā His sentences were a bit broken and scattered as he glanced around for the teenagers in question. What would he do if they managed to catch up with him? He was terrified. Since coming out fully and admitting to his relationship with his roommate (now spouse) it was becoming increasingly difficult to scroll through his twitter mentions without seeing something that triggered the negative thoughts in his head. He didnāt think he could handle that in a real-world setting where he was nearly obligated to answer clearly. Either that or run. Today he chose running.
āI⦠Make music.ā He said after a moment, wondering if Hoseok found him a bit off-putting in this instance. He knew that his anxiety just wouldnāt allow for random strangers to run into him and beg for help. He was likely to leave them on their own. āAnd I went to Hot Topic. There were teenagers there and well⦠they did what teenagers do.ā A shrug, attempting to play off the entire situation as something that he could deal with normally. He wanted to ignore the fact that heād just been sent running by the aforementioned teens. He wanted to pretend that no one had seen him nearly die from the exertion.
Hoseok blinked slowly, eyes carefully taking in the otherās words and body language, calculating. It became clear to him that the taller of the two was in some state of distress and despite Hoseok not being too eager to tag along with someone he didnāt exactly know, he did want to help in whatever way he could. Was he willing to shove away some of his comfort to be of assistance? He quickly concluded it didnāt exactly MATTER. Had he been comfortable a single day in his life? What was the worst that could happen?
āItās, ah, okayā¦ā He replied quietly when Skylar apologized. Hoseok was aware this fears were most likely irrational, that the stiffness in his body and expression were caused by something he couldnāt explain or even UNDERSTAND. So he continued to drag himself through the corridors, remaining silent as he allowed the other to speak and letting his eyes shift over the various stores and restaurants until he found something that looked like a coffee shop. He briefly nodded in the direction, not wanting to interrupt whilst processing Skylarās words. The brunet pushed the door open and awkwardly led the way to a booth in the back where he sat himself down.
Hoseok could understand what the other was talking about, figured thatĀ āI make musicā might mean that he was a lot bigger than he was trying to make it sound. The brunet didnāt recognize their face, but he couldnāt remember the last time heād willingly listened to a regular radio station ā he was too attached to his personal music library. Loud, maybe a little edgy, music that could drown out the noise from outside, almost put him in a trance like state that allowed him to get lost and pretend the world didnāt exist. Maybe he should feel bad he had no idea who Skylar was, but he figured that in this moment it was probably a relief to the both of them, especially because Hoseok wasnāt sure heād be able to function in the slightest if heād be aware of the musicianās fame.
āDoesnāt, um⦠Hot Topic have an⦠online s-shop?ā He asked, feeling a blush rise to his cheeks. The last thing he wanted to do was encourage people to never leave their house ā he knew how treacherous the power of the internet could be. One could do almost anything without needing to go anywhere; a dream come true for the twenty year old, but it didnāt exactly give him motivation to try and challenge his fears, either. Hoseok nervously picked at his wristbands for a moment.Ā āI⦠I mean, Iām sorry, thatā that must have been⦠scary.ā Musicians were people, too, right? Who would he be to assume Skylar was an extrovert just because he made music? He knew very well that a lot of celebrities suffered from some kind of mental illness; it would be ignorant to think the other could handle the pressure that came with their job.
It wasnāt really the physical exertion that made Skylarās chest tighten, but rather the strong and impending possibility of a panic attack that brought the aches and shortness of breath. The running didnāt help.
Skylar hadnāt exactly begun to understand how to deal with his fame. It had been easier when he was half drunk, always too far away from the situations to fully feel them. His therapist had stressed that just because these times seemed easier, they had actually been making it harder for the singer to learn how to cope with their fears; they had spent so long hiding from them, that they didnāt know how to deal with the nerves and stress. Now that he was sober he was forced to deal with these realities. It was hard to keep himself from wanting to slip back into those habits.
But what about the nights with Yoosung that he could barely remember due to Skylarās lack of sobriety? How would he ever be able to tell Yoosung that there were times that Skylar couldnāt remember even speaking to him for days because he had been so wasted for so long?
He felt that guilt again.
āIt does,ā Skylar managed once their breathing had finally evened. āI just... donāt leave my house very often and...ā he trailed off.
A shrug.
āI donāt like going out because I have to talk to people, and thatās not something that Iām particularly good at but I was told that I needed to work on like, that.ā
Being wrapped up in the low lighting of the coffee shop was a nice comfort. Something about fluorescent lighting made him feel exposed but within the confines of their booth Skylar felt safe.
The musician pulled the sleeves of his hoodie down over his hands as he propped his head atop them. āItās normal. I kind of expected itā not bragging, really, honestly, just... it comes with my job. I kind of hate it, really. Too much stress to be likable.ā Skylar might have been rambling just a bit.
if you ever look up to me youre wrong
this isnt cause im short im not short
this is cause today i was at the beach and i forgot what sand smelled like so i decided to stick my nose into the sand and snort and it went absolutely not excellent
āExcuse me - Libby, what did you want to ask them?ā Alās goddaughter sat perched on his shoulders as he got the attention of another person standing around the fountain they were at. The young girl expectantly held her little hand out to them.Ā āUncle Al doesnāt have money, soĀ can I have a penny to throw?ā she asked, her tone more demanding than questioning, and Al had to stifle a laugh at it before adding,Ā āI guess the magic word got lost in translation.ā Libby sighed and stuck her hand out further to the person they were asking.Ā āPlease?!ā
Skylar stood with one hand ruffling light pink strands of hair, the other tucked deeply into the back pocket of his faded skinnies. Itād been a while since the musician had stood out in public, much less without a hoodie covering his now very well-known dyed locks. Instead, the only thing concealing their features was their normal glasses. At some point theyād ran out of contacts, they guessed.
It started the singer just a bit to be spoken to directly, as that generally meant bad news and that he would have to skedaddle before his slushy was finished being prepared by the vendor at the open slush stand. Ā As it processed that the child was speaking to him, Skylar couldnāt help but smile wide. āa penny, huh?ā He mused, pushing his glasses back to rest on top of his head as their free hand delved into the other pocket, fishing out a well-worn hot topic wallet. āHow about two pennies? That way both of you can make a wish,ā Skylar rested the pennies in the tiny outstretched hand, āMaybe Uncle Al can wish for more pennies.ā

yoosungryuā:
2018 had been a crazy year so far; Yoosung knew he couldnāt handle any more big changes until at least January. Over the span of just nine months, heād moved back in with Skylar, started dating the musician and now they were married. And it felt like it had happened over the course of merely weeks. Like it was only yesterday that theyād awkwardly celebrated Valentineās Day together as BEST FRIENDS. He remembered that day ā not because heād freaked out over the mess in their house, but because Skylar had opened up to him about his mental health for what had definitely been the first time since theyād met. Of course, he hadnāt been entirely oblivious to the depression, the excessive drinking or the sleeping around. Heād known Skylar wasnāt okay, but hearing his best friend admit just exactly how bad it was? He couldnāt forget that.
Nor could he forget their awkward accidental first kiss, or the night Skylar had confessed his feelings for him. It might have all felt like a big blur of events, but he could remember those moments, crystal clear. There had been ups and downs (many, many downs), but at the end of the road, he couldnāt have imagined to be where they were now. Maybe heād had feelings for his friend long before heād even been aware of them. Maybe it had taken Skylar kissing him to realize this, maybe heād just suppressed them like he did with most emotions.
Yoosungās dramatic exterior was a defense mechanism. His frigidness, his reluctance to share anything with people he deemed too personal. Conversations about feelings made him uncomfortable, but only because he worried that something inside of him might break and make him spill all the darkness that he kept inside of him.
For so long his parents had tried to ignore and reject who he was. Maybe he was still insecure because of it. He knew he could be a lot when he was uncomfortable or stressed, but he tried his hardest to take pride in who he was as a person. And perhaps he was more himself when he was at home with Skylar, where he didnāt have to feel like the world might be judging him.
Starting up therapy was tough. It was even harder than heād imagined it to be. Opening up to people wasnāt something he did ā he could barely explain his feelings to Skylar, let alone a stranger who was writing everything down and most likely trying to diagnose him with something. He dreaded to see the labels printed onto a piece of paper. He didnāt want to know how much theyād conclude was wrong with him. He wasnāt stupid, he knewĀ about the PTSD, which was honestly the only reason heād even admitted he needed help. But why couldnāt it be easier to get it fixed? To stop the nightmares, the paranoia, the crippling GUILT.
The blond looked up from the magazine heād been reading when he heard the knocking on the door. He hadnāt exactly been about to go to bed, but definitely lost track of time.Ā āWe should have some reminder for those groceries, hmm?ā He replied with a tilt of his head as he removed his glasses and sat up a little straighter.Ā āIāll have to quickly get changed into something less⦠casual,ā He looked over his sweatpants and t-shirt.Ā āBut we can go out to dinner if you feel up for it, jagiya.ā Yoosung pushed himself up from the bed and moved to rummage through his wardrobe.Ā āHow fancy are we talking? Because if itās practically take out, I donāt want to be that bitch who shows up overdressed.ā He quickly shot a glance towards his spouse.Ā āIām not askingĀ for fancy. We can go wherever. Nothing expensive, itās just dinner, okay?ā
It was strange to have someone waiting up in bed for him.
Skylar hadnāt quite gotten used to the idea of having someone. Though he and Yoosung had known each other and been together for some time, it was hard to wrap his head around the fact that he had someone. Someone who he shared a bed with and would share that bed with for the rest of his life. He was married. He was getting help. He wasnāt like his father.
That was the biggest weight off his shoulders, after all. Skylar had spent his entire life terrified to become a drunken monster like his father. But after⦠that night, and all of the efforts that Yoosung put into keeping their home a place that was safe for Skylar in his journey to get sober, he didnāt have to worry about that anymore. Of course, his body still shook hard with need. There were days were he heavily believed that it would all be easier if he just went to a bar. Found one of his dealers. He knew that it was just the addiction talking. Skylar didnāt need these things. He was learning that the hard way. His body ached for it though and the days that followed during his detox had been a nightmare for both Skylar and Yoosung. The fights. The tears. The sickness. But they were stronger now. They had gotten through it and they were better.
A small smile pulled at Skylarās lips as his spouse pushed themselves up from their bed. āNo, nothing expensive.ā He agreed as he moved to sit down, legs pulling up onto their mattress. āI set a reminder on the Alexa the other day, and she reminded me earlier, I just forgot... to do what the robot in our kitchen saidā¦ā he ruffled his newly dyed locks, watching the other in awe. God, he was in love with this person. How had he gotten so lucky?
āMaybe we just go to like, Ihop or something. What are you in the mood forāyou know Iām always gonna suggest something thatās inedible to normal people, so how about you pick?ā Skylar suggested, resting his chin on his knees, eyes half-lidded in content as he was no longer stressing over putting out at least one song.
Heād put himself on hiatus the moment heād been healed enough to make a statement about everything that's been going on. The marriage. The incident. The parting ways with his label. To anyone outside, it would look like a huge mess, but Skylar was growing. He was finding himself. As a child star he had never had a chance to find who he was, and now at nearly thirty he was tasked with that expedition and needed to accept each part of himself that he found. With that said, Skylar didnāt have time to work on music for days at a time, running solely off of vodka and good faith. Skylar needed to grow up for himself.
But he wanted to at least try to put something together.
He was so used to pushing himself constantly. It was hard to let himself be still. Ā

Skylar: So

Hoseok warily watched the musician, slight worry visible on his features. Was he okay? The boy wanted to ask but somehow struggled to formulate the question, worried he might sound like he was judging when he was genuinely concerned. He then wanted to ask if they maybe wanted to sit down, if he had to go and buy some water maybe. But he remained quiet, just nervously licking his lips and waiting for Skylar to catch his breath.
At the question he gave a nod, confirming that that was his name ā then hesitating to respond to the next question. His body tensed up slightly, eyes nervously looking around. There was something about the suggestion of going somewhere more private (though Skylar hadnāt put it like that, thankfully) that made him a little nauseous.Ā āIāā He started off, his fingers nervously scratching at his arm.Ā āO-Okayā¦ā
Though he wanted to decline the offer of food, he didnāt, purely because food meant they at least had to remain in a fairly public place. Maybe the privacy of a booth in some coffee shop would be good enough for the other. His eyes were already looking for a place, though he realized he had to move before theyād find anything. He cast one last glance at the toy store, then pushed himself ā one foot in front of the other, slow and steady.Ā ā⦠S-Skylar, right?ā

Skylar: So
Skylar: Iām married now. Thatās like a thing? Iām sure youāve seenaĀ lot about it. Sorry you werent like invited to the wedding or anything. there really wasnāt one just like a court house sort of thingĀ
skylar: are you mad :( @wtfjaykim
Skylar let out a small sigh as he pushed himself away from the soundboard, eyes aching from hours of work. Head pounding from the constant sound pollution.
He hadnāt even tried writing music since heād gotten back from the hospitalāhis hands were often too weak to even press down the strings on his guitar, his body constantly exhausted, his body always just a bit too anxious to properly put the time and effort needed to put something together.
But how else was he supposed to deal with the changes? Skylar was always one to push back hard at any kind of change that came his wayāLord knew what having Yoosung in his life had been like when they first met.
Skylar had been very much to himself, putting on the face of a confident party boy type each night and drinking until he couldnāt stand. Yoosung had made him realize that he was none of those things the moment that heād come into Skylarās little world. He forced the musician to cope. To deal. It wasnāt a secret that through the years they had known each other that Yoosung had been a positive impact on his life and it wasnāt really all that surprising to Skylar that they had married each other when he put it in that sort of perspective. But⦠what had Skylar done?
The thoughts ate away at him as he twisted the ring around his finger, eyes scanning over the screen where sounds bites sat, waiting to be arranged.
There wasnāt much that Skylar offered, he knew. How had he managed to pull Yoosung down to his levelāhow had he managed to finally get the one thing he wanted?
Love. All Skylar had really wanted was love.
Yoosung showed him that excessively and Skylar couldnāt help but let a small smile pull at his lips. He needed to dwell on that more than he did the angry, hateful thoughts that berated his pink dyed head. He was good enough. It was just hard to believe that sometimes.
Long legs pulled him up from his seat and carried him into the hallway, palms rubbing at his eyes. āYoo?ā He called, uncertain of what time it was exactly. What if his spouse had gone to bed? Where had he left his phone? Why didnāt he have a watch?
He knocked carefully on their bedroom door before peaking in. It still didnāt feel real that they shared a room. A bed.
āHey, do you want to go get something to eat with me?ā He asked the hand that wasnāt occupied by the doorframe reaching up to ruffle his hair. āCooking doesnāt exactly sound ideal at the moment and Iām pretty sure that I forgot groceries again.ā @yoosungryu

Eun-Jae was quiet as he walked, teeth sinking into his plump bottom lip whilst he listened. He still felt upset ā the idea of Skylar hurting himself or maybe even dyingĀ was a lot to process.Ā āIām not disappointed.ā He eventually said quietly. It was terrifying how much he could relate to not feeling anything, though he was constantly torn between wanting to feel that numbness or wanting to feel something.Ā āYou donāt have to apologize.ā He then added.Ā āIām sorry you felt that way.ā The boy hesitated, gaze locked onto his coffee cup.Ā āNot feeling anything is⦠scary. Not really when it happens, because nothing matters, but after. When⦠when the feelings come back.āĀ
Heād never talked about this kind of stuff with anyone ā his mental health issues were something he safely kept locked away, even from his closest friends. Heād accidentally let some things slip to Wen, but he knew he hadnāt made much sense then. This was different. He was sharing personal things with someone heād looked up to for years. Not Romeo, who was the most important person in his life, but Skylar Norwood; an actual celebrity. Was that stupid? Was it weird to feel like he could trust Skylar? Hadnāt the musician called him his friend?
Jay wanted nothing more than to be happy. With his life, his body. But he felt so stuck, so alone. Like he had no control. It was one of the reasons heād become so obsessed with food, with restricting himself, with counting calories and losing weight. He desperately wanted to have something he could control. And slowly heād also become addicted to the numbness that came after the feeling of hunger; to the dizziness that complimented him on his efforts. Where the results of his starvation had been scary at first, they now felt like rewards, like proof that heād done well. Maybe the happiness that came with that was the scary part.
He tried not to flinch against the hand on his shoulder and felt a blush creep up his cheeks. Skylar Norwood was touching him. Was this real life? He blinked slowly, forcing himself to focus back on the otherās words.Ā āOhā¦ā He said softly. He couldnāt help but initially frown a bit as he tried to picture Skylar in a dress and heels, but the longer he let his mind go over it, the more he started to understand that the other was serious about this.
āIām gay.ā
The words left his lips before he could stop himself and his eyes widened slightly as he realized heād said them out loud, the nearly empty cup slipping from his grip and tumbling onto the sidewalk. Jay stopped in his tracks, bottom lip quivering as he looked down at the mess, suddenly feeling incredibly small.Ā āI-Iām gayā¦ā He repeated quietly, voice breaking as he reached up a hand to rub at his eyes.
A wave of protectiveness washed over the singer as the small, pink haired boy crumbled beneath his large hands at the admission and couldnāt help but pull him carefully against his chest. His hands rubbed gently against their back. āItās alright.ā He mumbled.
Coming out was hard. Skylar knew it. He was still doing that now, even at nearly thirty. Jay was much younger than him and was making one of the first steps to doing that for himself and though the musician saw the pain that it caused his friend, he couldnāt help but feel like a proud parent watching their child push their bicycle off without the training wheels for the first time. And he expected Jay to fall over and scrape his knees as he learned how to navigate this sort of thing, but he knew that he was going to try to be there to help. Skylar was still growing, he was still learning how to understand adult relationships with other people because heād spent so many years hidden behind a wall of intoxication that did all of the socializing for him. He didnāt know what he was doing. But everywhere around him, a family began to grow. He had Yoosung, he had his pets, he had his friends who he would do anything for. And though that didnāt seem like much in comparison to other people of his status, it was enough for him.
āIām proud of you,ā Skylar said as he finally pulled away, ruffling Jayās hair. āCome on, let's get you to my place and Iāll make you some tea, yeah? Sānothing to cry about, love.ā Ā

Hoseok felt like he had been caught doing something illegal, even though heād only awkwardly been wandering around the same store for the past five minutes, eyeing the items behind the glass. He hadnāt actually dared to step inside yet, knowing very well he probably couldnāt afford anything and even if he did, it was too embarrassing. The brunet nearly jumped out of his skin when the tall person came running around the corner, eyes wide and panicked for a moment, until he managed to relax just slightly once he recognized the other.Ā āAh, um⦠itāsāā He choked out, before swallowing hard and throwing another shifty glance in the direction of the toy store.Ā āI⦠I donāt m-mind.ā He eventually managed, offering a nervous smile whilst he pushed his hands into the pouch of his hoodie.
A familiar face was good. A familiar face was nice. It caused the racing in his chest to calm just a bit.
āThank god.ā He managed through labored breaths.
Skylar always seemed to manage to run into the other lanky figure each time he was outānot that he was complaining. New York was large, but apparently not so large that people didnāt frequently run into each other.
It took the musician a moment to really collect himself. It was just a bit embarrassing that his body couldnāt even seem to hold up against even the slightest bit of physical activity but they also rarely left their apartment so what did they really expect? They also rarely had days where their body wasnāt overrun with exhaustion and shakes due to the withdraws. Once he did finally manage to gather himself up he took a deep breath. āHoseok, right? Can we like, find somewhere thatās a bit more⦠not out in the open? Iāll explain in just a second alright? I swear itās nothing weird. Iāll even buy you food for your time.ā
