Tsukkiyama Teacher AU (Part 2)
A/N: Sorry for the long wait on this! I’ve been quite busy and uninspired! I apologize for any spelling or grammatical mistakes! Please enjoy!

When Tsukki got home with his younger brother he discussed the situation with his parents, who did not take too kindly to what happened. Tsukki tried to lessen the grounding but in the end Tsukki’s brother was grounded for a month. Tsukki sat in his room pulling out his books to study since he was a little behind but not all that much. His phone vibrated and he picked it up putting the phone to his ear.
“Hello?”
“Oh ah Mr. Tsukishima. It’s your younger brother’s teacher, Mr. Yamaguchi. I wanted to apologize from when we first met. I got my own name mixed up. It’s last name Yamaguchi, first name Tadashi not the other way around. I just never got back to correcting myself,” Yamaguchi rambled and Tsukki grunted in response as he worked out a problem. There was hesitation.
“Did I call you at a bad time? I can call back if you want!”
“No later would be worse. Just talk and I’ll listen,” Tsukki said and there was another pause before the teacher spoke again.
“I heard about the principal’s punishment. A week suspension… That’s harsh for a first offense,” the teacher said and Tsukki looked up.
“What is it usually?”
“Well for a fight it would be after school detention but I guess since it knocked a tooth out it was considered worse. That or the parents would press charges,” Yamaguchi said absently and Tsukki felt anger bubble up but he pushed it down with another grunt. There was a gentle cough.
“Where are we meeting tomorrow anyways?” The teacher asked shyly and Tsukki tapped his pencil on the desk. He hadn’t really thought much about it since he had been dealing with his brother and his mishaps. Pushing his glasses up Tsukki leaned back in his chair.
“It’ll be a surprise. Why time do you get done? I know I’m usually done around 5. I can come pick you up after my shift and we can head out from there,” Tsukki said and there was silence on the other end. Did he hang up? Pulling the phone away from his ear Tsukki checked to see but found that Yamaguchi was still on the line. He put his phone back to his ear.
“That sounds fine by me,” Yamauchi said quietly and Tsukki nodded chewing on his pencil again thinking through the problem.
“Say Mr. Tsukishima,” Yamaguchi started and Tsuki could imagine his carding through his hair and biting his lip like her had done frequently when asking Tsukki questions.
“Since your brother was suspended I can gather his homework and make notes for him so he doesn’t fall behind. And I can give them to you to take to him and whatnot. That is if that’s alright with you,” the teacher mumbled and Tsukki looked up.
“That’s a great idea. I’ll grab the first set tomorrow and we can work out a plan to get them delivered so he doesn’t fall behind because of something ridiculous,” Tsukki said as he finished the problem with a nod of satisfaction.
“Great. Well I need to go. Thank you again and I’ll see you tomorrow,” Yamaguchi chirped and quickly hung up. Tsukki set his pencil down.
“I knew you overheard me you twerp. Get in here,” Tsukki said and the door to his room opened. His younger brother stepped into the room.
“So you’re taking teacher out on a date. Be nice to him you hear? He’s really nice and I won’t forgive you if you hurt him!” The young boy threatened and Tsukki’s brows raised. He seemed overly protective for his age. Tsukki hummed.
“Why do you care Shin?”
“It’s because he has a sensitive heart and I heard him sighing and mumbling over you every time you left. Just be nice to him. I’d rather him not be hurt by your selfish actions,” Tsukki’s brother said and Tsukki sighed. He didn’t plan on being mean but that would ruin the fun. Shin paused in the doorway.
“Oh and Akiteru is coming to visit. Be sure you say hi to him before you go out,” the boy said and Tsukki grunted returning to his school work. He had known that though he didn’t plan on telling Akiteru that he would be going out on a date. Akiteru would be sure to give him a stern talking to. Retiring for the night Tsukki found himself thinking about his next day date. It made his stomach churn and he sighed deciding to quell the twisting in his stomach.
“Shit I’m so late!” Tsukki cursed as he left his job and got in his car. Passing by the school he found nobody in the parking lot. Of course. Unless the teacher was a coach they would have gone home already. Tsukki reached for his phone but decided to check it only after he arrived at his house. Pulling up he found another car parked out front and he slowly pulled up into the driveway. Upon getting out he heard laughter coming from inside and he went inside stony faced.
“Ah Kei! There you are! You’re quite late home!” Akiteru chirped from around the corner. Tsukki sighed dumping his bag on the floor.
“Sorry but no time to talk. I’m running late-”
“I know. Your date is here waiting,” Akiteru said and Tsukki froze looking up as the head of Shin’s teacher appeared as well from around the corner. He smiled sheepishly.
“I couldn’t wait and I wanted to be sure Shin understood the work. Sorry about dropping by. Your brother was very nice to let me in,” Yamaguchi said and Tsukki stared at them both with a look of utter disappointment. Yamaguchi seemed to shrink away from his gaze and instead went back behind the wall. Akiteru motioned for Tsukki into the kitchen. Following his older brother Tsukki sighed and got himself water. When he was done he turned to his older brother.
“What is it?”
“Shin told me about your date and I just wanted to reinforce something,”
“Oh not you too,” Tsukki groaned and Akiteru smiled.
“I promised Shin so if you hurt Yamaguchi then I’ll have to break your dick,” Tsukki’s older brother said with a charming smile. Tsukki pursed his lips. He really didn’t want to have this discussion. He set his glass into the sink and grabbed his bag.
“Come on Yamaguchi. We’re late already,” Tsukki ordered and the teacher jumped up hurrying to Tsukki’s side. Leaving the young men got into Tsukki’s car and he drove them to the restaurant he had picked out. He felt Yamaguchi stiffen beside him.
“Mr. Tsukkshima! This place is expensive.. I can’t ask you to pay for my meal here,” Yamaguchi said uncertain but Tsukki shrugged it off getting out of the car and waiting for Yamaguchi to emerge from his own seat. He seemed reluctant to enter the door that was held open for him and time just seemed to make him even more tense. When they arrived at their table a waitress came up to them with a bottle.
“Would you like to try the sweet wine that our chef picked out for tonights meal?” She inquired and Yamaguchi looked stunned. Tsukki nodded.
“Yes please,” he responded and smiled slightly as Yamaguchi’s bewildered gaze turned to him. The waitress poured some wine into the wine glasses and left soon after letting Tsukki and Yamaguchi to look over their menu’s. Tsukki peered over the top of the menu at Yamaguchi who chewed thoughtfully on his lip. Tsukki made a grunting sound before setting his menu down. Yamaguchi closed his menu and set it down as well, quietly sipping a little bit of wine. He blinked.
“It’s sweeter than what I’ve tasted before,” Yamaguchi uttered taking another sip. Tsukki picked up his own glass and took a small drink. It was sweet. It wasn’t much to Tsukki’s liking. It was a bit too sweet for him. He set his glass down gently as the waitress came back.
“Are you ready to order? Shall we start with an appetizer?” She inquired and Tsukki motioned for Yamaguchi to go first. He shifted.
“I’ll take your chicken parmigiana please. And I’ll have the soup. Ah soup of the day actually,” Yamaguchi said rubbing the back of his neck slightly. He was nervous and Tsukki knew he knew it. Looking up Tsukki hummed.
“I’ll just take the soup of the day please,” Tsukki said and Yamaguchi looked at him, mouth slightly ajar. The waitress noted it down before leaving again. There was an awkward silence that settled between them. Tsukki cleared his throat catching Yamaguchi’s attention.
“You’re a teacher. What led you to be one?” He inquired and Yamaguchi smiled a little. It was forced though from Tsukki’s perspective.
“Oh well I want to help people, so why not start with the future citizens? I’d also like to pass on knowledge so they can grow adequately and hopefully bloom and prosper as adults. Though I know it is a long shot,” Yamaguchi said looking away after he was done. Tsukki could feel the nervousness radiate off Yamaguchi heavily.
“What about you? What do you do?” Yamaguchi asked and Tsukki blinked brows raising.
“I work as a computer software tech. It’s not much but I enjoy it I guess,” Tsukki murmured and he felt Yamaguchi straighten up.
“Oh um well maybe you can help me with a computer problem I’m having! I don’t know what to do about it but I’ve never got the chance to take it in. Would you be able to come to my place to check it out? Of course you don’t have to come tonight!” Yamaguchi stammered clasping his hands together tightly. Tsukki thought for a short time as Yamaguchi took another sip of wine. Shifting in his chair Tsukki gave a sigh.
“What day do you want me to take a look at it? I assume the weekend will be better for you since you have your job right? How about I come by Satruday to look at it? Will that work?” Tsukki asked and Yamaguchi pulled out his phone checking his calendar. His hands were shaking terribly Tsukki almost felt bad.
“Oh yeah! Saturday will work! Would the evening work better for you? I don’t know your work schedule I hope that’s ok!” Yamaguchi said quickly looking a little too eager for his own good. Giving a curt nod Tsukki looked up as their soup arrived first before Yamaguchi’s food did. They made small talk over their food and their wine, Yamaguchi stopping to drink water to try to wash away the wine. By the time they were done it was dark out and arriving back at Tsukki’s place Yamaguchi was glancing at his phone. He gave a slight grimmace.
“Oh man it’s late. Sorry I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow when you drop off Shin’s work right?” Yamaguchi asked as he was heading for his car. Tsukki nodded as he headed for the door. Turning to face the teacher Tsukki watched Yamaguchi fidget before coming over and giving Tsukki a hug his cheeks flushed before he hurried back to his car. It took the teacher a few more moments of fumbling with his keys to actually get in and drive away but Tsukki was rooted to the front step. Yamaguchi has been the one to make the first move. It wasn’t that Tsukki wasn’t interested. He had just wanted to give Yamaguchi space. But in the end it was the teacher that had stepped forward and in situated the contact. Though Tsukki wouldn’t call it something to freak out over since it was just a hug but maybe that didn’t matter. It was still something. Heading inside Tsukki found the house quiet and dark. The family must have been asleep from the lack of sounds. Sliding up to his room Tsukki turned on the desk light and decided that he needed to work on some homework so the evening didn’t exactly go to waste. Finishing a couple problems Tsukki decided to prepare for bed before getting under the covers. Checking his phone he found a message from the teacher thanking him for the food and drink. Tsukki thought nothing of it. It had been a date hadn’t it? That’s what people do on a date. Shrugging it off Tsukki shot back a general response and set his phone next to his alarm clock to charge.
Waking up in the morning to the feel of cotton in his mouth Tsukki got up from his bed and shuffled his way to Shin’s room knocking before entering. The young boy was sitting on his bed in his pajamas papers in hand.
“Hey did you do your homework? I need to take it to your teacher,” Tsukki said rubbing sleep out of his eyes. Shin nodded handing Tsukki the work.
“Yeah, can you tell him I said Hi ok?” Shin asked yawning. Nodding mutely Tsukki slid the boys work into his bag before getting ready for work. It was weird not taking Shin to school or ushering the small boy out the door. It was a little nerve wrecking for Tsukki. Not that anyone really cared. The punishment was handed out and Tsukki had to deal with it. Leaving Tsukki drove to the elementary school and got out heading to Yamaguchi’s classroom. There was a sub sitting behind the desk. She blinked when she saw Tsukki walk in.
“Hello, may I help you?” She asked head tilted. Tsukki paused before closing the distance between them. He pulled the homework out of his bag.
“Mr. Yamaguchi and I had an arrangement for me to drop off my little brothers homework and pick up the days assignments.
"Oh yeah! He left a note explaining this to me. I’ll take that and here is the work he told me to give you,” the sub said handing Tsukki a small packet. There was a sticky note on it explaining what to do. Putting the work in his bag Tsukki bows before taking his leave his fingers flying over his phone to call Yamaguchi. It went instantly to voicemail. Tsukki felt a twist in his gut but he pushed it aside as he went to work. Throughout the rest of his shift Tsukki called every once in a while still concerned that it went to voicemail instantly when he dialed. Tsukki felt his jaw clench as he left for the day. He didn’t know where Yamaguchi lived so it wasn’t like he could drop by to check on him. When he arrived home Tsukki handed Shin his work before retreating to his room to attend his online classes. His phone rang in the middle of lecture and he looked up picking it up.
“Hello?” He answered taking notes still from the subtitles flashing across the screen. There was a cough and a throat clearing before he heard the teachers voice.
“Sorry I never charged my phone after the call to the sub. I’ve been out all day,” Yamaguchi wheezed on the other end of the line. Tsukki frowned. Yamaguchi sounded pathetic.
“I dropped off Shin’s work to the sub and gave him his new work,” Tsukki said and he listened as the sick teacher coughed away from the receiver before talking again.
“That’s good! Did he have a problem with the work?” Yamaguchi inquired and Tsukki sat back thinking. His brother was pretty capable of doing his school work, he even asked for help if he was concerned about something. So far the student had been quiet.
“He’s working on it right now. I assume he’s got it,” Tsukki responded as he continued to scribble down notes. He chewed on his pen in thought. Yamaguchi sounded awful and his vain attempts to cough away from the phone were pathetic. Recording the rest of the lecture Tsukki got up shouldering his backpack.
“Where do you live?” Tsukki asked grabbing his keys. The educator on the other end sputtered. Heading downstairs Tsukki listened to Yamaguchi recite the address while he mentally drew up a town map. Thanking Yamaguchi Tsukki hung up and decided to stop at the store to pick up a few cans of soup. He also got a magazine for himself. Thank goodness he didn’t have work these next few days. The drive to Yamaguchi’s place gave Tsukki some time to think and to look around at the surroundings. It wasn’t the best but it definitely wasn’t the worst. It was very rural but still upcoming and bustling. Parking in the parking lot Tsukki grabbed his bag and headed up the stairs to Yamaguchi’s apartment. Knocking on the door he looked around the hall at the other apartments nearby. It was well kept from the outside. The door jerked open but stopped swiftly as the security lock held it in place. Yamaguchi cursed softly.
“Sorry I forget this exists,” he wheezed closing the door and removing the security bolt. Opening the door again Yamaguchi moved aside to let Tsukki in. Entering the apartment Tsukki took off his shoes and witnessed Yamaguchi putting on a face mask. He frowned.
“What is that for?” He inquired and Yamaguchi jumped blushing lightly.
“Oh I don’t want to get you sick. So it’s easier for me to cover up than to ask you to do so instead,” Yamaguchi answered stretching the mask to cover his nose and mouth properly. Setting the bag on the counter Tsukki found the sink partly full with dishes. He could feel Yamaguchi radiating with stress. The tech sighed.
“Go sit down your worrying isn’t helping,” he grumbled and Yamaguchi reluctantly did as he was told going to the couch in the living area. Setting a pot on the stove to heat up the soup Tsukki turned his attention to the dishes in the sink. Filling one side of the sink up with soapy water Tsukki scrubbed the dishes before washing them and putting them up after drying them. Drying his hands and stirring the soup Tsukki looked up to find Yamaguchi searching around the living area for what seemed like the remote. Coming out of the kitchen area Tsukki entered the living area and perched on the arm of the sofa.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m looking for the remote”
“Sit down and let me do that. You need to rest,” Tsukki ordered but Yamaguchi persisted to search. Getting up finally the tall blonde picked up the teacher and sat him back on the couch before gazing around the living area. Rolling his eyes he grabbed the remote off the countertop and handed it to Yamaguchi. The teacher looked a little flustered.
“I misplace it sometimes,” he said in his defense. Tsukki didn’t say anything in return but instead went to check on the soup. Seeing that the soup was done the tall man scooped up some into a bowl and placed the bowl on top of an oven mitt to prevent Yamaguchi from burning his hands. Coming back to the living area Tsukki took a seat next to Yamaguchi placing the bowl on his lap. He waited until Yamaguchi righted himself before handing the bowl and oven mitt over. In turn Yamaguchi handed over the remote and allowed Tsukki to flip though the channels. Settling on a documentary Tsukki sat back on the couch as Yamaguchi busied himself with the liquid in the bowl. When he was done Yamaguchi shuffled back into the kitchen to put it in the sink and wash up before coming back to the couch. Tsukki looked at him from the corner of his eye.
“Thank you. You really didn’t have to do that,” the teacher murmured a little out of breath from his previous activities. Tsukki shrugged.
“Mh. You sounded stupid over the phone,” Tsukki muttered is eyes on the television as commercials flashed on the screen. A stangled silence settled between the two men before Yamaguchi started coughing his mask blowing up and crinkling as he tried to breath. Tsukki tried to not look concerned but he got up and dug through the medicine cabinet groaning as he found no cough medicine. Returning to the living room Tsukki grabbed his keys off the counter and pulled on his shoes.
“I’ll be back, I’m going to grab medicine,”
“I’d like to come with please,” Yamaguchi piped up from where he sat just behind the arm of the couch. Tsukki wanted to protest but he also didn’t want to leave Yamaguchi alone again. Nodding he waited as the teacher got up and slid some shoes on shuffling after Tsukki as they went down to his car. Driving over to the store both of them got out heading inside. It was baren and empty within the store but Tsukki had anticipated that. Yamaguchi coughed beside the computer tech as they made their way over towards the pharmacy. Standing before the rows Tsukki picked up a box looking over it. He felt Yamaguchi lean against him. Even through the clothes Tsukki could feel Yamaguchi’s burning skin. He tsked and grabbed a different box reading over it.
“Why are you reading it?”
“I’d rather you get proper medicine with the least amount of side effects. You’ll thank me when your stomach isn’t turning,” Tsukki said quietly as the teacher slowly processed what was said. Yamaguchi suddenly perked up before shuffling away. Tsukki stared after him.
“Where are you going?!” He called but the teacher ignored him heading into the frozen food section. He sighed and followed after listening for the sound of shuffling feet and wheezing. Rounding a corner Tsukki found the aisle he thought he heard Yamaguchi from. Frowning he entered the aisle looking around. He swore the teacher had came here to find something. Huffing Tsukki turned on his heel for Yamaguchi to jump out at the beginning of the aisle holding a tub of ice cream. Tsukki’s brows rose slightly taking in the size.
“Do you really need that while you have a cold?” He inquired and Yamaguchi beamed before coughing into the sleeve of his jacket.
“I might as well grab some. If you want any you can grab some too!” He chirped a little more enthusiastic than Tsukki found possible in his condition. Shaking his head and walking back out the aisle to the checkout Tsukki didn’t bother to check if Yamaguchi was following.
Returning back to the apartment Tsukki watched Yamaguchi unbundle himself before firmly planting himself on the couch, leaving the IT tech to put the ice cream away.
“Sorry to bother you but could I get a glass of water with the cold medicine?” Yamaguchi asked from the couch, the news droning on the tv. Nodding and pouring filtered water from the pitcher in the fridge Tsukki came with the medicine in it’s bottle and a short glass of water. Handing it off he sat down on the arm of the couch as Yamaguchi sat up to take the medicine in hand. A couple moments of silence lapsed before there came a tug on Tsukki’s sleeve. Looking down at the sick man Tsukki slid down to sit properly on the couch Yamaguchi moving once again to give him more space on the cozy cushions.
“You really didn’t have to come…,” Yamaguchi said quietly while the news switched to commercials. Swallowing the dry lump in his throat Tsukki snorted and looked away frowning a little.
“You would have been worse off. You had no medicine or soup to nourish yourself with. You would have been out longer,” Tsukki stated bluntly and he heard a sniffle from Yamaguchi. Fearing waterworks Tsukki spared a glance to find Yamaguchi staring at him admirably. He jolted a looked away quiet once more. Returning his attention to the news Tsukki turned up the volume to hear it better. A steady but not uncomfortable silence blanketed the two, only interrupted by Yamaguchi’s sniffling and coughing.
It was a half hour later when a heavy weight landed itself on Tsukki’s shoulder. Peeking out the corner of his eye he found the teacher fast asleep breathing through his mouth. Being as quiet as he could without waking the younger man Tsukki carried him into his room placing Yamaguchi under the covers on the bed. Deciding that it was a bit too late to return to his own home Tsukki instead chose to make himself at home on the couch in the living area. Putting his glasses on the counter and his phone beside them the tech lounged on the couch staring at the ceiling. Hopefully Yamaguchi wouldn’t mind it but in the back of his mind Tsukki thought it wouldn’t matter in the morning.
The scent and sound of food being made in the morning roused Tsukki from his slumber and he sat up slowly noticing a blanket fall off his shoulders and into his lap. The news was back on and a gentle hum reached his ears. Getting off the couch Tsukki stretched looking over the counter at Yamaguchi standing before the stove. His hair was rumpled and he coughed into his arm.
“Good morning,” Tsukki murmured causing Yamaguchi to jump a little and turn.
“Oh good morning! I didn’t think you would be awake this early!” Yamaguchi said his voice a little raspy but strong. Turning back to the food Yamaguchi cleared his throat.
“Breakfast will be done soon. I hope you don’t mind bacon, pancakes and fruit,” he said flipping another pancake onto a medium sized stack. Tsukki fished around the pantry for syrup. That’s when he spotted the bowl of what he assumed was cream cheese frosting. Tsukki’s brows shot up. It seemed their breakfast would not be as healthy as it sounded but the tech was hungry anyways. Yamaguchi had finished cooking and had started to layer the pancakes with the frosting, adding some on top he placed strawberries on top orderly before stepping back to admire his handy work.
“Looks good doesn’t it?” He asked with a smile. Tsukki nodded mutely his stomach churning with the thought of how fattening his breakfast was about to get but he pushed it aside. Yamaguchi didn’t have to make him anything to be brutally honest but he did anyways. Setting out two plates Tsukki cut out two slices of the strawberry pancake and placed them on the plates accordingly while Yamaguchi divided up the bacon strips between them. Settling down on the couch together Tsukki was the first to take a bite. He blinked chewing slowly. It was sweet but the strawberries and pancakes took the sweetness out. He licked his lips as Yamaguchi watched him.
“It’s…good,” Tsukki admitted and blushed when Yamaguchi’s grin stretched.
“Thank you! I was hoping you would!” He beamed before dissolving into a coughing fit. Waiting patiently Tsukki ate the rest of the breakfast while the two watched the news go by. Helping to clean up the kitchen the tech sat down with Yamaguchi’s computer, going through it to diagnose then solve the issue. After about an hour Tsukki sat back and turned to where Yamaguchi was grading papers on the couch.
“I’m done with fixing your computer. You just had a file that was taking too much space and wasn’t important to your overall data,” Tsukki said taking off his glasses. Yamaguchi blushed and nodded as Tsukki got up. He blinked standing as well.
“Are you leaving?” He asked and Tsukki nodded. He needed a shower but didn’t want to overstay his welcome. Gathering his keys and wallet he found Yamaguchi packing up the rest of the strawberry pancake breakfast for him. Handing the tub to the tech Yamaguchi smiled sheepishly.
“When I feel better we can go on another date?” The teacher asked and Tsukki nodded rubbing the back of his neck before kissing Yamaguchi on the nose.
“Sure, I’d like that.”
