human susie :3
my entire childhood i was threatened with juvenile detention just for being a weird kid. the kids in my class would lie about me doing bad things, or be doing bad things and then i would get in trouble and my school principal said if i didnt 'show remorse' id end up in juvy. neighbors called the cops on me and my own mother wouldnt take my side. so no, i dont think prison is a valid tool for rehabilitation or justice. jail is a threat the people in power use to control us and get rid of people they dont like. get more prison abolitionist now. get more youthlib now. get more transfeminist NOW
Stop excusing the behavior of trans men by saying things like “this is a terf sockpucket” or “this is a cia psyop.” No this is a trans man acting in his own interests by being a misogynist.
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!

With the growing [trans] "men's rights" movement, I think it would be prudent for everyone to study up on similar masculine power movements of the last century.
Yes, we know Gamergate, but I rarely see acknowledgement of how contemporary masculine identitarianism is deeply tied to American military culture that has been exported abroad, or allusions drawn to the white power movement of the late 20th century.
I recommend God Forgives, Brothers Don't by Jasper Craven and Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement And Paramilitary America by Kathleen Belew for deeper detail, but in short, we should be deeply wary of the growing accommodation of queer men in imperial power, including male power and white power movements and not be caught off-guard when this trend continues

continuing from here, because transmascvoicesproject turned off reblogs
the mod has now turned off asks completely and is posting screenshots of old reddit posts about sexually abusive transfems with the usernames cropped out. how exactly does this further the "mission" of helping survivors tell their stories and heal? what kind of "peer support" project is made up of screenshots that the organizer dug through reddit to find? is it possible that the goal of this project is not actually peer support or helping survivors? 🤔
several of the survivors who have had their stories used by this project discuss in their stories that they have complex feelings about coming forward because they don't want to contribute to the stereotype that all trans women are predators. they discuss not wanting others to use their stories to justify discrimination against trans women
that is to say, the stereotyping of trans women as predators makes it harder for survivors to come forward. a number of them discuss wanting their abuser to be understood as an individual who harmed them, not as a representative of their entire demographic
what do we think? will a project dedicated to documenting exclusively abuse by transfems help change the problem that makes these survivors hesitant to come forward?
