heres something that may make you feel better. most prey species (ie: this deer, elk, whatever ruminant it was) go into shock when theyre afraid and they die. its a defense mechanism so that they dont feel pain when theyre attacked by another animal (ie: lion, tiger, etc). so its likely this guy wasnt stuck for very long before he passed. he wasnt there forever suffering.
