My old boss from publishing is retiring at the end of the year, and all of the former assistants are gathering to do some sort of tribute to her. This has resulted in me going down a rabbit hole and stalking the other ones and feeling envious of their titles or just idk, the fact that they mostly all still work in publishing while I do not.

idk I’m having weird publishing nostalgia

Last week, news broke that my old imprint, Touchstone, has folded, and all of the editors were split up among the other imprints at S&S. Even when I worked there from 2013-2016 it was apparent that the imprint was in trouble / underperforming / not a priority for the company, but I never imagined it would not EXIST.

But: weird nostalgia!!! “Weird” because publishing is … bad, and I thought I had made peace with my choices and my path.

Can I blame this on Uranus about to retrograde back to my ninth house which rules, among other things, PUBLISHING???

Today I had lunch with the old boss and seven of her other former assistants! I was the only one at the table who doesn’t work in publishing anymore! At one point one of them said to me, “Do you want to get back into publishing?” and I heard myself say “Yes, hire me!”

???

I feel insane, but being around publishing people makes me really miss it. My current job pays well but it’s pointless, boring, not challenging, and my favorite coworkers keep leaving. I definitely need to do *something* different, and taking a pay cut to be an assistant again is psychotic but I’m considering it because I have no idea what else to do. I’m 29 and I have no skills........!!!
