Photos from aforementioned Poppins adventure, which Sam so kindly wrote up to save me the trouble of doing so.
NB: Before we begin, the reason I’m even telling you this story is because it’s a foolproof day out in London (adaptable for pretty much any major city, really) for any child from 4-10ish. OK. With that out of the way, here we go.

Today's Mary Poppins themed adventure that I created for my goddaughter, in 15 seconds.

Matteo going as Doctor Who (which I introduced him to last summer) for World Book Day (in a costume I helped pull together). My work here is done.

The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with someone else when we're uncool.
What a total loss. Godspeed, PSH.
In the words of Cameron Crowe, the writer/director: Â
"My original take on this scene was a loud, late night pronouncement from Lester Bangs.  A call to arms.  In Phil’s hands it became something different.  A scene about quiet truths shared between two guys, both at the crossroads, both hurting, and both up too late.  It became the soul of the movie.  In between takes, Hoffman spoke to no one.  He listened only to his headset, only to the words of Lester himself.  (His Walkman was filled with rare Lester interviews.) When the scene was over, I realized that Hoffman had pulled off a magic trick.  He’d leapt over the words and the script, and gone hunting for the soul and compassion of the private Lester, the one only a few of us had ever met.  Suddenly the portrait was complete. The crew and I will always be grateful for that front row seat to his genius."

Favourite Celluloid Moments, part 12
I remember hearing a lot of buzz about Xavier Dolan's "Laurence Anyways" when it was doing the festival circuit, and mentally bookmarked it to check out. I finally got round to watching it this evening, having forgotten almost everything I'd read about it at the time, just knowing the basic premise of the story (per the IMDB synopsis: "A drama that charts ten years in the relationship of a male-to-female transsexual's relationship with her lover") - and was absolutely blown away by it. Like, total and utter love and awe. I'm aware of Dolan's reputation but this was the first of his film's that I'd seen; I very quickly added all his other available films to my rental list.
The trailer is available to watch here, but I purposefully didn't post it as it's quite spoilery, managing to hit all the big emotional beats of the story within three minutes, which seems such a waste. I loved the fact I went in almost blind to the film, not knowing how it was going to end, what the other characters would do or feel in relation to the protagonist and his decision. Thus endeth your trailer warning. This below was one of my favourite scenes, and I'm going to post it here with no context:
