Not All Heroes Wear Capes- Some Wear Cloaks

Apparently she is in Born again season 3. Elektra is one of the most intriguing female comic book characters, but I've not been very happy with how they handled her in the original Daredevil show and in Defenders. It feels a bit like she comes in, brings out the worst in Matt and then dies again. I really hope they have something different and more interesting planned this time.

What's good:

At first it sounded like they would recast her and that would have been a shame because Elodie's chemistry with Charlie is perfect and I like watching her.

It also sounded like they were planning to bring her in in that originally planned 18 episode run and that would have been way too much to deal with.

What always bugged me, even in the original show, was that Karen and Matt never seemed to address the Elektra aspect of their fallout. I'm just not sure if he was ever that open about what she meant to him. I'm glad that they didn't make their conflict all about "the other woman" and more about Matt's lies and his avoidance (pretty much what he did to Heather in Born Again). But at that point Elektra was also manipulating him and isolating him from his friends. I'm just not sure if that's ever been clear to Karen, although Foggy from experience certainly saw it happening.

The Bad:

There are already so many guest appearances...

I do not want another love triangle. It's just frustrating, mainly because of the fan reactions and as interesting as a proper discourse of the ships in question would be, things often get too personal and a lot of takes are just very subjective. Like.... I see a lot of hate for Elektra because she caused a lot of damage in Matt's relationships, but we barely even get to see her side of the story. Others feel Matt and Karen are boring together and can't wait for them to split up again. But frankly while we didn't see how they got together (which still bugs me), these two are very much in love and open with each other now. It'll be difficult breaking them up after what he did for her. Sure Elektra died for him twice now, they'd both kill for him and he just gave up his secret identity, his freedom and his profession partly for Karen. So, let's just say that's difficult to walk away from. Same for Karen and Frank by the way. While I had my problems with how they handled Matt / Karen in Born Again, after that ending a lot would need to happen for them to call it quits. I'd be pretty disappointed if a year in prison would be enough to split them up now. I think I'd be pretty annoyed if either of them casually ruins it now and hooks up with Elektra or Frank.

I was really kind of hoping the Matt in prison arc would take longer and now we already see him in a new costume, matching Elektra's. What's happening there? I really hope they are not rushing all this. Born Again has a tendency to go slow and then suddenly speed shit up a bit too much... Also, I don't care for the suits. Elektra's actually looks cool, but nothing will ever top Matt in the black pyjamas. Forget it. They're just trying to sell new merch. And we all know he can't mask that ass. ;) (Not that he even has a reason to nowadays...)

What I hope for:

I was kind of wishing Elektra would fill in for Matt while he's in prison. I think there's some story in the comics like that. That would be cool because it would show that her character changed in the time she wasn't with him. I feel like she could be such an exciting character on her own. But judging by the set pics that is not happening. Looks more like they are teaming up again. Fine.

I want to like their ship more, because of the chemistry and the comic book history. I can see the appeal, but the way Netflix presented that relationship wasn't always very flattering. Matt especially was kind of annoying when he was with her. It was fun when he was fighting her, but whenever he gave in, he didn't seem to care about anyone else and he always went very suicidal... It's been years, so I hope they are different now.
