forget trying to explain dubstep to a victorian child, try to explain genAI to yourself from ten years ago. they invented predictive text on steroids and people take its words as gospel. ceos fully believe that glorified autocomplete can replace millions of employees and many people are fired or forced to edit machine's vomit. creative fields are in shambles, everything is slop. anyone can publicly make porn of anyone in one click, yes, including children. no, there are no consequences for that. nothing feels real. no one can apparently write an email anymore. I'd have a stroke.

Ordered the "signature omelet" (jalapeno and feta) at a place where the waitress then confirmed "That has jalapenos, is that ok? They're spicy. And it has feta, is that ok? It's a strong flavor." Other people at my table thought it was stupid, but I was like "That is a woman who has had to take back a lot of omelets from people who didn't know that jalapenos would be spicy."

Every weird rule in an Internet forum / discord server is written in the screaming crying throwing up of a former member who had a total days-long meltdown over that thing that seems like it shouldn't matter, and the mods realizing that the only way to ensure that wouldn't happen again is to make a hard rule against it - knowing the non-insane people would know that it isn't about them.

I used to be a proficient googler who never wasted a word but since Google is near useless no matter how good you are at it now I have reverted to just typing in entire questions like an old person

they still have laptops and youtube like yeah i get it i know about enshittification and planned obsolescence and i know mega corps want us dumb and feeble but like there’s still laptops and desktops and youtube and reddit tutorials and guides that can give you basic tech literacy like you can’t blame steve jobs for not knowing how to use alt tab on your keyboard you have SOME agency even in a shifting technology landscape like i can’t say enough they still have laptops and youtube
