Hello! Finally, i’ve decided to sub “K Lost Small World Stage”. This is one of the stage that pick my interest to sub it. *blame MakiNiki too*.

The video isn’t mine. It’s @lady-mug . I’ve already ask permission to use her video. I’m no professional subber, but i will try to do my best to subbed it. So do excuse me if there’s a mistake as this isn’t 100% accurate translation. You guys can tell me via pm/ask to point out my mistake in this video too ^^.

As i’m no professional subber. So i might make lot of mistake. If someone willing to help me to translate this stage. It will be out faster than i planned to be. I plan to finish this around December-January 2018. But we will see, because i have many things to take care in irl too. If someone want to help me translating this stage, pls pm me later. Or if you can’t please help reblog ^^

So… I know that there’s people who’d like to have a subbed version of the JG stage… but it would be a lot of work to hardsub the JG stage so it will be probably hard for someone to single handedly try and make it (if there’s such awesome person though it would have my undying thankfulness forever).

However, while talking with @lookslikerainydays, we wondered if a softsub collaboration project wouldn’t be easier to manage.

For who’s not familiar with the term softsubs are separate subs to be displayed during playback. In short if you’ve already downloaded the stage, you won’t have to download another subbed version of it but just a small text file containing the subs that your player will display while you watch the stage.

Softsubs are relatively easy to create and change, and thus are also used for fansubs. Text rendering quality can vary depending on the player, but, according to Wikipedia, is generally higher than prerendered subtitles. Those are not the only reasons why we thought at softsub though.

It’s really time consuming and hard to translate 2 hours of Japanese dialogues for one person… but if more people were to volunteer to make tiny bits of it, it wouldn’t be so bad. Softsubs are easy to update and can be easily shared even if they aren’t in a complete version. If someone is willing to provide translations softsubs are something I can help to create even if I can’t translate Japanese to save my life.

Yes, we all would like a complete translation and we hope for it… but if a complete translation can’t be obtained… wouldn’t be nice to have at least a partial one? Even if we were to get the translation for only a single scene… wouldn’t it still be nice to have at least that?

That, of course, provided there’s translators willing to cooperate in this project.

It’s fine if there’s none… it’s a lot of work and people have real life problems to deal with… but if there are some it would be awesome if those people were to join this attempt at a collaboration project. Even for just one scene.

Thanks to @szk-niina agreeing to it, we can use the files @szk-niina​’s shared, provided it’s only for a softsub version.

So… this project now desperately needs translators… therefore let’s hope we’ll get some. If not… well, it was still worth a try. In the meantime I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Now… for who’s reading this and wishes for a softsub version but can’t translate I’m asking you to think hard and decide: do you REALLY wish for a softsub version? Because if that’s the case…

What this post needs isn’t notes, it’s visibility in hope it’ll reach translators.

We all know what a ‘like’ means, there are tons of post going through Tumblr explaining that a like is the equivalent on a pat on a message’s metaphorical shoulder that will basically say: ‘good idea, I want this one too, please, do all this work but sorry, I’m not going to help making it visible because I don’t think it’s worth giving it space on my blog.’

Not only it’s hard to feel encouraged to do all the work of creating a softsub when one receives this message but without visibility this post will surely not reach potential translators and the project will die. It’s as simple as that.

So if you don’t feel like reblogging… don’t bother liking it.

And if you really CAN’T reblog this post but want to help… at least make a link to it. Make it visible. Give it a chance. Maybe it’ll fail anyway but at least we can say we tried.
