Small Hiatus

"Its ok Sora. Just ignore them."

Riku soon came up the stairs with a few large boxes. He pulled one of the longer boxes from the pile and opened it. There in it was a military grade rifle. Riku cocked it and examined it. "Good condition..." He muttered softly before setting it down and beginning to examine the rest of the weapons.

"Riku…." Kairi said, standing slightly behind him, concerned. She swallowed, a little nonplussed by her friends reaction and honestly, a little scared. She closed her eyes for a heart beat, telling herself not to be stupid. This was Riku her best friend. She knew him. So what if he could kill these things so easily and was punching walls. It was still her Riku. The thought coaxed her to opened her eyes and  she walked over towards him, placing her hand on his shoulder. “We…We will make it!” She said suddenly, rubbing the last of the tears on her face off with her free hand.  ”I’m not going to cry again.” Kairi’s voice was hard and determined. “And you can’t either okay? We’re gonna go get your mom, wherever she is and we’ll get her somewhere safe. We’re going to make it. So-so….” She exhaled hard before meeting Riku’s eyes,her own expression firey. “No giving up before we even try. We can do this Riku. I know we can.”

    “Wh-why did you kiss me…?” he asked, his cheeks still a brilliant red as he gazed at the silverett. “I m-mean… K-Kissing is usually only done with somebody you r-really like.”

Riku chuckled. "Are you saying I don't like you?"

  Sora blinked, had he done something wrong? His friend seemed almost upset before suddenly lips were on his own, causing a squeak to escape him. 

Riku smirked as he looked at the other. "Yes?" He asked leaning in close. "Is there something you want to say?"

Knight looked at the male with a definite note of disappointment. His grin fell into a small frown. As he stared on, a number of questions seemed to pass over his gaze until his eyes turned from a soft note of sadness to incredibly annoyed. There were teeth flashing between his lips as his frown evolved into a sneer.

"Well well well....what have we here? Hmmmmm perhaps i could sell you some megalixers my keyblade wielding friend?" The merchant offered as he tilted his head.

Riku nodded. Before he could say anything the phone rang. He looked at it with wide eyes and rushed over to it. "Hello? Hello?" He called into it. "Riku? Oh honey." His mother was on the other line and sobbing with happiness. "Mom whats going on?" He asked. "Riku theres some virus...its making people kill..." The phone began to break up. "Mom?! Mom!" He shouted. "Riku...bzzzz New York....bzzz help....bzzz." Riku's heart pounded. "There a quaritine zone....bzzzz....Love....bzzz...you..." Thats when the phone went dead. Riku's heart stopped and he listened to the tone. He slowly hung up the phone. "Damnit..." He whispered. "Why there?! We won't make it!" He then punched the wall.

Kairi had her head in her hands as she sat on the sofa, crying softly. Riku sat next to her and she immediately turned into him, resting her head on his shoulder as she sniffled. “I…know.” She said scrubbing at her eyes. “Its…even probably better this way. So..they cant hurt anyone else. And…and they weren’t my parents my parents would never hurt me but…but….” She broke down slightly, hand coming out to cling to Riku’s shirt. “…They were alive and we were a family ten minutes ago.” Kairi sniffed, trying to pull herself together. 

Kairi stood stiffly outside, fingers curled against her bat as she blinked back tears. She knew what Riku was doing. What….Everything had been so normal and now…Her shoulders were tense and she swallowed, her throat feeling clogged.   She flinched slightly when Riku spoke to her, even though his voice was soft”I…guess.” She cleared her throat and straightened  up, forcing herself to look at Riku. “Yeah. Lets…go to your house now.” She agreed, hefting the bat onto her shoulder. Most of the noise and screams and groans had moved onto the street. The could make it. Probably. “Lets go.” Her whisper was harsh with her tears.

Riku looked at the girl. She had tears in her eyes. He nodded. "Lets be quiet about this then..." He whispered softly and began to move down the house. He looked at Kairi as he landed on the ground. "I'll catch you if you fall..." He whispered softly as he watched her to make sure the gutter didn't come off her house. When she was down safely he nodded and they began to sneak across the street. Once there he opened the door and had her go in first. Riku swallowed and closed the door locking it. He then proceeded to lock all the doors and cover the windows. Once done he sighed softly. He looked to the girl that was on the couch. She was still crying. "Kairi...?" He asked before sitting next to her. "You must understand why I did that...right?"

"Boxers?" Knight asked, turning to look back at the silverette who followed him.
