“Where he at tho?”

Work trips weren’t meant to last so long. 

From the tireless phone calls to the much to early meetings to the ever consuming deadlines, Eva was drowning in the sea of paperwork and responsibility while on her trip across the pond. If she had a more… hospital type of doctor they would probably not advise her to make such a drastic, long trip while being six months pregnant but who would she be if not a workaholic and a bit of a rebel? But there were those nights, rather, every night, that she chastised herself for being gone so long from her mate Tyler, from his scent, warmth and even that stupid grin. 

They tried the over the phone thing but it just wasn’t the same. They’d attempted to facetime as much as possible, when it was possible- meaning a lot of her falling asleep with the phone facing her so his face was the last thing that she saw. Every now and then she’d wake up to the sound of his voice, gently humming or whispering to the other pair of ears listening within her swollen belly and a smile would drift over her sleepless lips. She missed him, and that gentle stir beneath her abdomen whenever she heard his voice was a telling sign that their cub missed him too. 

So when she bought her ticket back home Eva didn’t tell him. When she boarded her flight, she didn’t tell him. And when she opened the door to the home that they shared, the taste of his scent instantly embracing her senses, she found it difficult to not rush him home. Their home. 

“When I get back home I’m gonna need soo many foot rubs, Tyler,” Eva sighed over the phone, reporting to their usual hour of ‘call time’ when he was heading back after his own long day of work. 

“Well, if you hurry up I can rub a lot more than just your feet.” He laughed, but there was a growl riding beneath it, a threat, a promise, a hunger and she felt it roll over her skin. Eva had to pull her bottom lip between her teeth to keep her own needy growl respond before her surprise was ruined. And despite the warmth of her flesh, the softness of her satin night gown or the weighted fur blanket she suddenly felt cold and she knew he was near. 

“Eva?” His voice dripped in confusion at her silence, repeated her name again and she smiled at his belief that the call dropped just as she heard the ding of the elevator and his first step out of the cart, the sound echoed between the phone and what was beyond the door. Eva heard him inhale sharply, felt his heart skip a beat, he paused for a moment and then took his second step. They were slow and sure but each step carried a weight to it that she felt dip and pull between her thighs. 

“Yes?” She sung back into the phone, grinning at the sound of his breath quickening behind the front door just before he pulled out his key. 

“Okay but you’re not going out tonight. We are ordering in and not leaving the bed, it’s my night off, and I wanna cuddle.”

“Oh I see how it is. You think you slick...”

“You gone with me.”
