How Jupiter Ascending gave me an epiphany.
Upon finishing this movie, I have had the greatest, and possibly the worst, epiphany of life.
That there is no hope for mankind.
The world we know now and even before has been plagued with the selfishness of mankind. Power, Money and Greed make it impossible to attain equality.
Ever since then, Man has always been greedy. In order to give something, you must also be presented with something you benefit from. The idea of doing something for someone without expecting something in return, is simply that... only an idea.
With the twenty three years that Iâve lived in this world, I have seen so many things. I have realized so many traits.
People will do anything as long as something beneficial for them is presented on the table, regardless of the consequences. People will sacrifice people so long as it will help them rise.
See, Iâm like Seraphi Abrasax in a way. I tend to see the worst in others. Which makes me distrust and lose faith in someone immediately. Only those I cherish the most would make me see otherwise.
Now, along the the movie, evidence of mankindâs ruling greed is prominent. It seems to me that even the people who have existed eons before we have and are more knowledgeably advanced, are willing to sacrifice thousands of lives to acquire time. Make them live for as long as possible. One of Seraphiâs children even seem to cherish a young and beautiful body, even said that to acquire more time is âeven worth killing forâ
I know the movie is fiction but really, how different are they compared to us? We all are greedy. I wonât come clean and say that Iâm not. But what if each and everyone of us has a greed so strong, weâre willing to sacrifice everything else? Even the things that once mattered to us?
Iâm not implying that every single being on this planet is like that, but a lot is.
How can one person hope for a change if thousands of disheartening events contradict it?
Maybe itâs just me. Maybe I just really have a negative soul. But what Iâve witnessed over the 23 years is the main reason I lose hope. Iâm not saying there is not one bit of happiness in my life. There are. Those are the reasons why Iâm still here. But theyâre not enough to make me see things differently. Iâve seen how much power, money and greed corrupt a soul. Admittedly, I had almost set myself for that path. Almost. Iâm glad that the good Lord has let His Light shine upon me to steer clear of that path.
But it also has shown me the ugly side that this world possess.
For all the good that has happened, a thousand of ugliness existed before that.
Iâve realized this greed we possess will lead us to our downfall. There will be no peace and love if Selfishness is above all. Nobody is selfless enough to put somebody else before them.
