You're asked to acknowledge that hetalia itself needs serious serious critique /at the very least/. Its portrayal of the AP as humorous and nonthreatening is terrifying about a power whose main goal was imperialism and antisemitism. It's a racist and antisemitic stance and it needs thought! THANK YOU for calling out that chatgroup and for the list of people to block. I've moved on from the current fandom, but as someone with Jewish family and who stands in solidarity with Romani people as well, that chatgroup's things were literally sickening to see but I'm so so glad that at least it's being called out instead of it continuing to be allowed to happen behind the scenes. THANK YOU.

This fandom may have some truly amazing parts, but I think that the greater Hetalia community is still a toxic and repulsive mess, which is why I can completely understand and sympathise with the people who believe that the Hetalia fandom is something to keep away from at all costs. There's a lot of self-righteousness going around, and the BNFs (or most popular ones) love bathing in drama. So the best part of this fandom are the niche communities and interests. The popular communities? Yikes.
