Back in Black | Flora & Hestia

The hall grew hushed upon their entrance. Flora held her chin high and looked forward toward the professorsâ table. She nodded to Professor Slughorn, who smiled and bowed cordially, and then the twins found their place among the Slytherins. Various peers said hello - mostly to Hestia - but a few to Flora as well. Flora mostly nodded silently and helped herself to small portions of various foods. She picked apart everything she ate. Her eyes were oft bigger than her stomach.
She could see the Gryffindors all the way across the hall, but even worse: she could hear them. They roared with laughter and glee, just like every year. âCould they be any more obnoxious? Some of us would like to eat in peace.â Flora murmured loud enough for only Hestia to hear. Their aurors stood at the front of the great hall, conversing casually with professors, but keep a watchful eye on the twins. âDo you see any pudding?â Flora glanced around the table. âDonât tell me itâs gone already.â
Hestia always kept her chin up when she was around others. It was better to make them think she was not at all bothered by anything then to have them see how stressed she was. They sat down and she took a small amount of food, talking to a few people but keeping it simple. There was no need to make close friends right now.Â
When Flora talked about the Gryffindors, she looked up and rolled her eyes. Suddenly she didnât feel as hungry anymore. âSomehow they become more obnoxious every time we see them.â She said with a sigh, pushing her plate away from her. Hes wasnât very hungry in the first place. Annoyance and stress did a lot to her appetite. âI wouldnât be surprised if the Gryffindors took it all before we sat down.â
