Derek trying, (and failing,) not to smile is my favorite Derek

i like to think Peter loves Derek a whole fucking lot and everytime he looks at him he sees Talia and Laura and it hurts him. i always viewed him as the type of brother who loved (worshipped) his big sister and alpha a whole fucking lot and had planned to be loyal to her and her heirs for the rest of his life and losing that broke him entirely. him and Derek have a lot in common when it comes to that, losing a big sister who was also their alpha.

like Peter being the one to put Derek through the trauma he himself went through… thats so insane to me. i imagine them having that talk one night maybe Derek had talked about it with Stiles and Stiles had been the one to point it out and such and now Derek can’t stop thinking about it. he kind of confronts Peter about it like “i know you were insane but you put me through what hunters put you through do you realize that?” and Peter for once doesn’t use word games or mind games he’s just honest and he says like “i know, i know i did and if you think it doesn’t tear me apart every day you’re wrong. just looking at you, at the man you’ve become despite everything you’ve been through tears me apart. but thats my cross to bear.” and thats that. there’s this endless pit of trauma they both won’t ever be able to recover from but they’re still here. they’re still family.
