Alex wasn’t too fond of being left alone with Jim. It wasn’t that he disliked Jim, he just wasn’t fond of the whole psychopathic murderer thing. It just wasn’t his bowl of cornflakes. So naturally, when Sebastian had to leave, he begged and pleaded to be left with some one else, or to be taken along. Travelling was fun, he liked that! But no, he was left back in London, with Jim.

So, naturally, all he was going to do was sit in front of a tv and play video games to get the time to pass as quickly as possible. Which this was exactly what he was doing when Jim came up.

He paused the game, turning to look at him, “Yeah, but I know diddly squat about it, aside from making ramen noodles or macaroni.”

Jim wrinkled his nose. “That’s not cooking.” He nodded towards the kitchen. “Would you like to learn? Someone other than me has to wean your father off take out.”

Jim wasn’t much for “bonding,” but the kitchen was where he felt most human, thanks to the sentiment attached to it. He didn’t let many people in there with him, and he wondered if Alex would be able to appreciate that. More than that, he wanted Alex to accept the offer: he’d always wanted to teach someone to cook.

Alex shrugged, setting the controller down, "Sounds fun," he said, standing up.

He'd wanted to learn to cook for a while. But, y'know, drug addicted mum, couldn't really learn from any one. So, now it was being offered to him, why not take it? Even if it was Jim. Might even be fun, and make him a bit less scary. Aside from the murderer thing.

Jim really needed to establish a rule with Sebastian that shoving his son forward and saying “Keep him while I’m in Wales” is not the proper way to get Jim and Alex to bond.

Or, maybe it was, seeing as now, he stood in the kitchen, about to make dinner, and found himself walking up to Alex, clearing his throat to get his attention.
