"She's finally done!"
Dr. Wily pings one of what is now a pair of twins- "Forte, teleport in now! Your sister's about to wake up!"
Everything read perfectly; her programming had been checked over, her readings were normal for her internal and external systems... She was set. Piano Wily, the newest DWN and the first one since DWN-002 Copy Roll and DWN-006 Copy Bomb to be female. (Funny how he finally stopped being too lazy to do that when he finally planned on stopping.)
Still, she was set. And as she was booted up and while he was waiting for Forte to get his rear end in the labs, Dr. Wily gave his new daughter a grin. Her audio receptors should have been online by now, as well as all of her main processing. (And while she would be clean as fresh snow, Dr. Wily was covered in grime and guess who hasn't showered yet. At the very least, he didn't look or smell nearly as bad as usual.)
"Welcome to the world, my dear girl!" Dr. Wily said.
âThatâs wonderful, sir! Forte will be pleased to hear it; Heâs been very excited about the notion of having a linemate. And Iâm excited, tooâ Itâll be nice, having a younger sister⌠An interesting change of pace, donât you think?â
That being said⌠Dr. Wily doesnât look like heâs been taking very good care of himself in the rush to finish his daughter. Stepping into the lab proper, the DWN noes the mass of coffee mugs scattered about the lab, one of which only half empty and looking fairly cold. The man kind of smelled a little, too, and the bags under his eyes were heavy. Alto chuckles, sighing softly.Â
Oh, father⌠Please take better care of yourselfâŚ
âThough⌠If I might make a small suggestion, sirâŚ? Perhaps you ought to take a break and get some rest before reviewing her coding. Itâs best to step away from a project before beginning the final touches; Youâre more likely to catch mistakes and things in need of fixing after resting your eyes.â He prods his fingers together nervously. âAnd, ahâ If Iâm not being too bold in making this requestâ Perhaps it would be wise to get a second partyâs inspection of her coding? Iâm sure Soprano wouldnât mind, if heâs not too busy⌠All of us would like our younger sister to be brought online as smoothly as possible, you seeâŚâ
He remembers the living hell that was Forteâs activation, and heâd promised his little brother that heâd protect Piano from suffering the same way.
Dr. Wily was heavily tempted to protest. He was fine! He did this all the time before, when he was building robot after robot after robot... Who cares if they didnât all turn out so well? They were all functional with no problems he was aware of! Maybe some problems with personality, but Al wasnât willing to fix those, not really...
... but he couldnât say no to his favourite son. How could anyone? His boy was the best thing heâd ever built! Though Alto insisted on referring to Wily as âMasterâ and taking care of him so often, the fact was that Alto would get whatever he wanted the moment Albert knew of it. He built the boy to be too cute! (Which, of course, he attributed to having based his physical appearance off of himself at that age.)
âBah, alright...â Dr. Wily got up from his chair- and a very audible crack sound came from his back. Ow- come on, he wasnât that old! ...Yet! Nevertheless, the mad scientist was sluggish, âWouldnât want her to end up like Forte, eh?âÂ
Though, by now, heâd realized what had gone wrong with him. Since he hadnât been able to complete Piano at the time, he had removed the twin coding that would cause Forte to glitch out. Unfortunately, he mustâve removed either too much or too little, because the missing coding resulted in Forteâs violence feedback loop glitch. Probably a misdirection from the coding trying to fix itself... But oh, well. Soprano fixed it and he was better now.
âHe can look her over if he wants- but if there are any problems, I will be the one fixing them! Sheâs my first daughter, and her creation should be 100% my work.â

How is she coming along? You've been working very hard over the past few days, sir-- Perhaps a break is in order. It would not do to overexert yourself.
âSheâs almost set! I just need to look over the coding one more time and finish some details on her armour...âÂ
That said, Dr. Wily looked like he hadnât slept or showered once in those past few days while heâd been trying to complete Piano. The bags under his eyes were darker than a black hole and the man looked like he was about to pass out. He may or may not have been living off coffee for the past few days, as well. â... and tweaks to her-â yawn â-weapon, and making sure I installed everything right...â
Nerd bun, please just pick up your father and put him on his bed. Heâll probably pass out immediately.
#THIS IS ONE OF MY FEW LIFELONG REGRETS #THAT I BUILT THIS DAMN THING
âYOUâRE THE ONE TO BLAME. ITâS YOUR FAULT THAT YOU BUILT ME!â Reggae flew off out of Wilyâs reach, but didnât leave.
âWHY WONâT YOU ANSWER MY QUESTION? IâLL LEAVE IF YOU DO. OTHERWISE IâM GOING TO TAKE WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOUâRE WORKING ON.â
âYes, fine, whatever, I WAS having fun coming up with another BRILLIANT idea for my daughter, until you showed up! Now go away before I dismantle you and use you for parts!â
Ugh, where was something long and easy to swat birds with? Like a broom or something? Seriously, after building this bird, justifying Gospelâs existence to Alto wasnât exactly difficult. Or, it wouldnât be, if Gospel were a good dog and could catch the damn bird!
GREETINGS, TURD BLOSSOM! ARE YOU HAVING FUN FAILING AS PER USUAL??
âWhy do I still have you around?!â
Dr. Wily starts swatting at the robotic bird, trying to shoo him off. âWould you go bother someone else?! Iâm busy!â
⼠|| Just Another Night ;
There had to be a reason he hadnât shown up to dinner. It wasnât every day someone had a birthday, and Isabelle had gone out of her way to make sure Albert had been invited. Noele (nor Mikhail, for that matter!) might not have been too upset over the lack of redhead at the restaurant, but the blonde certainly had been. He was a good person! She could tell! He just took⌠Time to get through to. Tom had managed it, and she thought she was well on her way⌠But the only way for Pedro, Noele, and Mikhail to do the same was to be in his presence.
âŚAnd he was usually pretty good about showing up when he was invited, anywaysâ If only when it was a given Thomas would be there. And it wasnât like Tom would miss out on Noeleâs birthdayâŚÂ
Something had to be up, and sheâd taken it upon herself to find out. Isabelle had left early, convincing Tom to stay with the group; If Albert talked, she felt one-on-one would be easier for him anyways. And if she thought what was wrong was actually wrong, then it might be difficult for the poor thing to open up with his best friend present. What was that guy from engineeringâs name, againâŚ?
Sheâd stopped at home first, changing out of the dressier clothes sheâd picked out for the restaurant in favour of something more comfortableâ There was going to be a lot of sitting around on Tomâs bed listening to Albert rant or rave or cry about whatever made him miss out on dinner, and as pretty as her dress was it wouldnât be very good for that. She didnât want to bring much attention to the fact that the group had gone out without him, tooâ It might make Albert feel worse, and that was the last thing Isabelle Beaulieu wanted.Â
Before heading out, she made sure to grab a couple of bad sci-fi films and snacks. Making fun of or criticizing all the inaccuracies might make Albert laugh a little, at least, and if they were going to be there for a while it would be nice to have a good supply of junk food lying around.
The next stop before dropping off at the boysâ dorm was to the nearest corner store, in search of a big tub of rocky road ice cream. She didnât care much for it, but it was Alâs favourite, and Isabelle wanted to make him as happy and comfortable as possible. Once the precious ice cream and a few more snacks were collected, the blonde set out for Alâs dorm.
âŚMaybe she should have bugged Thomas for his key, in hindsight. Oh, well.
Albert would soon hear a knocking at his door, followed by Isabelleâs voice.
âAlbert? Can I come in? Itâs IsaâŚâ
And there was the young Albert Wily, red hair in disarray and glasses buried somewhere among the bedsheets. His face was currently buried in his pillow, cellphone stuck in the drawer next to it and his entire half of the room littered with tissues.
Struck out again- he just had the worst luck with guys, didnât he? They either already had somebody, or they were straight, or they were homophobic or really any combination of things. Albert had pretended to have been napping off the pain when Tom had left the room; because he knew that his bestie wouldnât have left if he knew he was awake. Whatever- Thomas could go hang out with his friends for his girlfriendâs birthday, didnât matter to Al. He wanted to mope on his own, anyway. No need to have him drag down the mood--
Okay, he was a little more bitter than heâd want to let on. Still, he really wasnât up for anything right now aside from wallowing in heartbreak. The robotics student grumbled as he lifted his head for a moment to rummage through his drawer and pick up his phone. What time was it?
...It was getting late. Ish. Tom would probably still be gone for a while, and heâd have the time to himself. Well, heâd stopped crying for the moment- that was at least a plus?
âGah!â He was startled by the sudden knock on the door. Wait- he canât have possibly been back this soon! Then he heard the voice coming from the other side of the door and identified Isabelleâs voice. Wait, what the hell was she doing here? Did Tom forget something-? Wait, maybe not. Thomas Light aside, Isabelle did seem to be the one other person in the universe that ever paid him any mind.
...Uh. âJust-- just gimme a minute,â Albert called. He looked around for his glasses, shoving them on his face and grimacing as he noticed smears all over the frames. He grabbed whatever tissues were in plain sight and dumped them in the trash bin, which had already been overflowing with papers; and took another three seconds to wipe his glasses on his shirt before answering the door.
âHi,â he said. â...Shouldnât you still be at dinner with the others?â He did notice that Isabelle still had makeup on, but she wasnât wearing anything fancy. Huh. So it wasnât that Tom forgot something.

âIâll do it!â Forte was quick to agree, cradling the blueprints protectively for a few seconds more before handing them reluctantly over to the old human. âAnythinâ you need, Iâll get it. Peopleâre so used to me showing up and trashing places by now that they wouldnât expect me to take stuff.âÂ
There was an eagerness in his expression and a longing in his voice that Forte barely noticed, so wrapped up was he in the thought that he was supposed to have a sister. Now that he knew, the SWN simply couldnât push the thought - or the desire - of that missing unit existing away.
âAnything, Doc. I mean it. Yâ can even take from my systems if yâ gotta. Fortenium ân all.â Red optics widened, a hint of desparation leaking into his voice as he continued,  âPlease? Please? Please please PLEASE?â
âThatâs my boy-- yeesh. If I knew this was how to get you to do as I asked I wouldâve built her sooner!â Dr. Wily took the blueprints and started analyzing them- he started muttering to himself in German after a few minutes, picking up a pencil and circling some problem areas. So far, he had to modify mainly aesthetic things that he didnât like anymore, but also a few more important things.
For now, however, he grabbed a piece of scrap paper and scribbled down some parts. âHere- these are the parts Iâm sure sheâs going to need,â he said. âIâll call you back when Iâve finalized her design. Oh- for that matter, I might need to pencil you in for programming modifications before I activate her. Thereâs a bit more to having a twin than just her being around!â
Heâd gone as far as to include twin programming in their designs; however, heâd taken that coding out of Forte when he realized he wasnât going to be able to finish Piano. Otherwise, Forte wouldâve been suffering; and luckily for both of them, Dr. Wily had, in a rare moment of proving his intelligence, kept the coding for that twin programming saved ...somewhere. Heâd have to look for it later!
He placed the list in Forteâs hands and patted his son on the shoulder. âAlright, off you go- I have work to do!â

âWell now! I forgot I already had her half-coded somewhere-- ...Was I drunk while doing it?! I need to fix half of this...â
Discovery
âBuild her!â The words were out of Forteâs mouth even as he pulled the blueprints away and out of the old manâs reach.  âBuild her, build her, build her!â With that highly persuasive and intellectual plea out of the way, Forte shoved the blueprints right in his fatherâs face, so close that if Al happened to sneeze the papers were in danger of a direct hit.
âWhy didnât you before?!? I need her Doc câmon!â Pulling the blueprints back again to try and prevent any snatching  - he was going to protect these papers like they were already his sister. His sister. Heâd been intended to have a twin, except he hadnât gotten her because⌠because Dr. Wily was a STINGY OLD FART. (This was the only plausible explanation in his mind at the moment.)
Whining, Forte rocked back on his heald and started at Albert, taking in his appearance more fully for the first time. Had he woken the old man up? It sure seemed like it⌠but heâd feel bad about it later. (Maybe.) Right now, he had something more important to deal with.
âCâmon, DocâŚâ He paused, the ever-present edge to his voice softening to an outright whimper.  âPlease? Iâm begginâ ya here - Iâll get yâ the parts even, hell Iâll donate my own if I gotta but. Yâ were gonna build me a linemate once anâ⌠sheâd be worth finishinâ I just know it!â
âBuild who?!â
It had been a long time since Wily had looked at those particular blueprints. He wasnât exactly swimming in funds; it was difficult to get in contact with- well, anybody outside of the fortress, due to his wanted level, so donations were rare and far between. His kids were so trigger-happy and wasteful with what he could get, either by forcing him to use up the spare parts to repair them or by wasting the cash in some way. As such, there were a number of projects heâd stashed aside and forgotten about- including the one Forte was holding.
âLet me see that,â Dr. Wily insisted, resisting (for now) Forteâs ...rather surprising pleading. âI canât build her if I donât know who youâre talking ab-- ooohhh, her.â
In the middle of his own talking, heâd figured it out. One SWN-002 Piano, the Roll to Forteâs Rock. He didnât exactly have a plethora of female designs; Dr. Wily was an extraordinarily lazy man whose only two female robots were both copy robots; and one of them only female by accident. Like the others, Piano had been set aside due to a lack of money and a lack of parts.
But... well, it wasnât like he had anything else to do. He had no other ideas and Forte was being really insistent. (It was kind of cute, actually, coming from his son. That wasnât exactly something he saw often from Forte.)
âYouâre going to have to steal me quite a few parts for her, Forte,â Dr. Wily said. âSheâs not exactly simple to build. I might also have to look over those blueprints first and make sure I havenât overlooked anything.â Since it had been some time since heâd designed her, he was less inclined to say âeh, itâs probably fineâ the way he had with ... far too many of his previous projects. âAnd half of it isnât going to be easy to get. I designed her to run on Fortenium, just like you do! (Or I think I did.)â
Discovery
âMan, does the Doc never junk anything?â Forte mumbled to himself, not daring to speak louder lest he risk discovery. It would be bad enough to get in trouble for being in here without permission - but to be caught rifling through the old manâs things?
That was something he didnât really want to risk. He was only in here in the first place because he was trying to get a good feel for the room so he could set up another prank sometime - Quick had approved of the paintball-splattered door, after all, and anything that would give him a siblingâs approval after heâd managed to aienate most of them was a wonderful thing.
Even if it meant getting in trouble with other siblings, which was definitely what would happen if Metal or Flash caught him in here.
âJunk,â Forte muttered, digging through a file folder and tossing papers aside - it was still messing things up, probably, but he wasnât burning the paper so Metal couldnât come down on him too hard for it.  âJunk, trash, whatâs a tissue doing in here?â He tossed the offending paper away and made a face.  âGross, Doc. Thatâs just gross. Garbage, stupid, juâ oh hey, whatâs this?âÂ
Pulling out a set of Blueprints, Forte peered at them with only half-interest until he noticed the design and the serial number scribbled onto the paper. Â âWhat in theâ DOOOOOOC!â
Forgetting everything else he had been doing and stomping on tossed and crumpled papers on his way out, Forte ran out of the office and to the last place he had seen Dr. Wily, screeching at the top of his lungs.
âDOC! DOC DOC DOC HEY OLD FART WHO BUILT US ALL ARE YOU LISTENINâ! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOC!â
The old fart was snoring away in his lab chair, desk littered with scrapped ideas and crumpled-up papers with a stack of blank ones in front of him. Heâd been starved of ideas since the Roboenza plot, and hadnât been having a good time trying to come up with new ones; so right now he was taking a break. Forte probably couldâve heard him from the other room.
Then the rowdy boy had started calling for him, and Dr. Wily snapped awake. As he shook himself awake, he could hear his last son continue calling for him, and he grumbled. Luckily the kid was coming here, so he didnât have to go searching for him via intercom or anything. Darn kid- heâd been sleeping so well!
âWhat is it, Forte?â the mad scientist asked a bit impatiently. He didnât have his contacts in, so he reached beneath his glasses to rub his eyes awake. One of these days that boy would be the death of him! He noticed the files in Forteâs hands and scowled; âDidnât I tell you not to go through my files?! Give me that!â
The old man hadnât even noticed yet what files those were; he simply reached for them, only half-coherently since heâd only just woken up.
are you feeling it now dr. wily
There was... one other ex-friend that Albert had managed that he didnât really talk about. Losing that friend, that time, hadnât been his own fault.
Nah- just some horrific medical circumstances he never really found out and didnât ask about. He really hadnât realized before that that person had genuinely liked him- maybe he had been blinded by his own paranoia and cynicism, two things he had always judged her husband for. The teapot calling the kettle black, as they say. Albert would never admit that, and he never planned to.
He would admit, however, that Mrs. Cossack had been a good friend despite his shortcomings.
Finding a way to land his transport vehicle- the pod he usually escaped his own domination plots in- in the graveyard she was buried in had been tricky at best. He was sure someone had called the cops by now- he wasnât exactly easy to miss. So he made it quick; he tossed the crummy, but well-meaning, bouquet on the small plot of dirt in front of her name and headed back to escape before he had anyone on his tail.
The only note he left read âThanks again, Isabelle. Happy Motherâs Dayâ.

Icon of Your Muse:
What is Your Museâs BloodType: Type B How do You think Your Muse Handles Rejection?: Badly. Very, very, badly. Either heâs sobbing into his pillow with excessive amounts of junk food or heâs going to attempt world domination again. Thereâs no in-between. There is literally no way to let him down easy without him reacting poorly. What Makes Your Muse Jealous?: Not being recognized for his genius, more than anything. Dr. Light getting all the credit is why he went mad scientist on the world to begin with. Whatâs a Bad Habit Your Muse has?: Oh, letâs see; laziness, self-absorption, being utterly incorrigible, caffeine-addiction, really bad at spending money-- itâs a miracle he could function without Metal Man playing butler for him. A Prized Possession of Your Muse: ... There are a few photos of his university days with Thomas that he treasures. Any Medical Conditions?: Albert does have a heart condition heâs taking medication for, among probably a few others. That one post about someone who has âthree different diseases from stress and two more from handling it so poorlyâ? Thatâs Albert.
~Questions for the Muse to Answer~

He was slightly startled at Magnetâs reaction to being released. Granted he could at least comprehend why Magnet wouldnât want to be so close to him given how rough he had been with him, but he hadnât expected Magnet to react soâŚNegatively. Not to such a degree where he was crying and stammering so much.
The older DWNâs shoulders slacked a little, a barely noticeable action to anyone who didnât know him well. To those who did, it was an indicator that he was feeling something other than anger. In the case of the situation with Magnet it was probably a rising feeling of guilt that hadnât fully surfaced.
"Iâll be having a talk with you later, Snake Man," Dr. Wily said.
"âŚYes, sir." Snakeman replied, a bit confused by the statement.
Snake tensed when he heard Magnet mention decommissioningâ That wasnât what he had planned to happened to Magnetman at all! Even at his most furious he wouldnât go to the lengths of decommissioningâ or attempting to decommissionâ Any of the third generation.
Dr. Wilyâs willingness to let Magnet leave the castle was not a surprise to Snakeâ As he had said, there were plenty of DWNâs that werenât always in the castle. Which Snake didnât mind, as long as they came backâ and didnât spend their time being friendly with humans. Wilyâs concern was the same as Snakeâs, although the green DWN had a hatred of humans tacked onto his insistence on not letting Magnet interact with the human race casually.
Snake tensed slightly at Wilyâs thoughts regarding Magnet possibly being handed over to Dr. Light should he be caught. He didnât want Magnet to be at any risk of getting caught if it were possible, even if heâd simply wind up with Dr. Light. On top of that, it gave Snakeman the feeling that Wily might have been considering letting Magnet actually go to college. He didnât have confirmation of his suspicions, but he had a bad feeling about it.
"âŚWhat do you suggest we do, Master Wily?" Snakeman asked slowly.
Magnet is silent throughout the exchange, listening to his father speak⌠Only to blink once. And then twice. Dr. Wily⌠Wasnât angry with him? He was more concerned about the consequences of being caught more than the fact that heâd been going behind his back?
He was making plans on how to retrieve him if everything went wrong?!Â
Magnet looked as incredulous as Snake probably did, staring at his father as though heâd grown a second head. He was⌠Really okay with this?!
Granted, Magnet wasnât sure how much he really wanted to act on his plans anymore thanks to all of this, but⌠If his father gave the okay and he went through all that trouble in the first place⌠Why wouldnât he?
Snakeâs voice and inquiry rouses Magnet from his thoughts, and he too returns his attention to his father, curous to hear his verdict.
...Then again again, there was never a certainty, and if the government did capture him- oh, no. Zero would be found out. Wily couldn't have that! And if the situation with Napalm Man was any indication, they definitely would want to know if he'd developed anything more dangerous than they were already aware of... and Zero was most certainly that. He was also Dr. Wily's last-ditch effort to succeed, he couldn't afford to lose him.
But Magnet Man was cautious and too friendly for anyone to immediately see him as a threat, or suspect him to be a DWN. Besides, it had been eons since the third line had been built. Chances were that people were no longer going to recognize the DLWN identification that was on his IC chip.
Dr. Wily pored over the decision for a minute more before answering Snake Man's question. "...Magnet Man is allowed to go to college," he said decisively. "Personally I'd rather he get a university education, but he's the one who forged the papers and sent the application." Of course, he was speaking as someone who got both; and all the hands-on work at college basically resulted in numerous injuries that summarized Dr. Wily's life in a nutshell.
He turned to the other third-gen. "Now; I'll be giving you plans for what to do should a bad situation arise. I'll sit you down and talk them through with you later- and I should hope you've also figured out how to pay for all this. It's not cheap, you know! Furthermore-- oh, for the love of..." Dr. Wily got a closer look at the injuries Tone had endured from Snake. "...Get Flash Man to take care of these. If he has any paperwork to take care of tell him to transfer it over to Air Man."
"Now, as for you..." Dr. Wily gave Snake Man a stern look. "Magnet Man, you can go. I need to have a word with Snake Man about his temper."
