our anniversary
This week, Kevin and I celebrated eight years of sharing life together and six of those years spent in marriage. Â Eight years seems like a drop in the bucket when held up against the lifetime commitment we have vowed to one another. Â Even so, it is OUR eight years, and the extent of our marital lifetime thus far so, naturally, it feels like its been forever. Â Six years of marriage, of daily life together.... wow, where did the time go? I can no more claim to be an expert on marriage than fly to the moon on the back of a kite, but I can say these two things with certainty:
1) While it can be really tough at times, the reward is so much greater than the struggle it took to get here.
2) While at times it feels as if I lose pieces of "me" for the sake of being "us", the "me" that remains is a much stronger, confident, creative, selfless, and love filled version of the me left all to myself.
Kevin, our life together has been nothing short of miraculous. Â You are (and are becoming still) more than I could have hoped, dreamed, and prayed for in a partner. Â You have helped my heart flex in ways I never knew it could. Â You have helped it grow and strengthen in faith, in hope, and in love for this life God is unfolding before us. Â
