AAA’s interview “things that have changed during the past 10 years” “Unanimity! the 〇〇 member” (Shuukan Josei PRIME)

7-member co-ed performance group which released it’s 52nd single on October 5, AAA. They celebrated their 10th year anniversary last year and had their best ever arena tour mobilizing 210,000 people. Once again, we asked the members who will be performing all by themselves for the first time as a group in Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome (Osaka) in November regarding their relationships and current feelings.

Nishijima: We’re firmly building up our relationships. Rather than being a class*, we’re a group of people who took and passed the audition. There’s a lot of times when we collided, but looking back at the past 10 years again, I think the seven of us needed time. 

[*he’s saying that their group wasn’t formed just because they’re friends, like a class in school or a gang that get along well, but rather, they were put together because they all passed the audition]

Uno: We continue to move forward, to wish to continue being a group whose presence is sought by everyone; and when one is missing, it’s no good. The 10 years felt like a miracle.

── During your debut, the members were mostly teenagers. Who do you has changed the most?

Hidaka: Sueyoshi-kun’s hair color and hairstyle!

Sueyoshi: That’s because I’m originally a beautician. (the interviewer was surprised and said: “Is that so!?”)…… I lied, I’m sorry (laughs).

Urata: If it’s in terms of looks, (Atae) Shinjiro too. He’s the youngest, so he was a real kid. His height was also short, you know. 

Atae: I was shorter than Uno-chan. I debuted at the age of 16, and without knowing anything, I became an adult (laughs). As for me, I became able to speak in English. 

Nishijima: Shinjiro used to hate going abroad before, ne.

Atae: It changed when I made an American friend. Now, I can speak in English enough to live there.

Urata:……even though you’re uncertain with Japanese, ne (laughs)

Uno: Hidaka-kun used to wear colorful clothes before, but lately, he wears monochromatic ones and looks like an adult.

── Well then, from the point of view of the male members, what changes did the female members have?

Sueyoshi: If I were to say Uno-chan became woman-like…… that sounds a bit wrong, so I won’t.   

Uno: hey, hey! Don’t stop! (laughs)

Sueyoshi: Her frame was so small like it will break if you’ll just push it a little, but now her style became very girly. It was in the level where you’d get anxious and ask, “are you eating?”, so I’m relieved (laughs).

Hidaka: (Ito) Chiaki’s hair color and clothes became simple in the last few years, ne. I think this is what it means when a woman becomes an adult. 

── Do you habitually contact each other?

Urata: we have a AAA group in LINE. 

Nishijima: most of our exchanges are work-related but the ones who reply the fastest are Shinjiro and Leader (Urata)!

── with the title of your new single “Namida no Nai Sekai(A World Without Tears)”, who is the member who get easily moved to tears? 

the 6 members except Nishijima: Nisshii!

Nishijima: ……yes. (laughs)

Ito: Nisshii’s feelings get easily stirred up, ne? I often see his crying face.

── Conversely, the member who doesn’t often cry?

the 6 members except Atae: Shinjiro!

Urata: he’s definitely a person from “Namida no Nai Sekai”. 

Atae: certainly~! You’re good! (laughs)

── Your views are unanimous, ne (laughs). In November, you’ll finally have your dome performances! 

Hidaka: Just the proof that there are people who would want to see our stage is already an honor that we’re grateful for. There’s also a sense of responsibility that we have to make the content worth saying, “I’d like to go again!”

Sueyoshi: I think, the venue is the actual spot where the fans lead us the way. Not even once did we have prejudice like, “since it’s a hall”, “since it’s arena”, or “since it’s a dome”. We simply think we’re glad!
