🚨 Surviving the surgery means nothing if she dies in the ICU.
My mother survived a high-risk surgery, but she is still in the ICU fighting for her life. The surgery was only half the battle we cannot afford the daily medication keeping her alive.
The Goal: We urgently need $465 for this week's ICU care.
The Crisis: We only raised $35. The donations have completely frozen.
The price of a single cup of coffee could buy my mother's next breath. Please don't let everything she survived be in vain.
If you can’t donate $1 or $5, you MUST REBLOG this immediately. Your reblog is what keeps her alive.
🚨 Only $260 left. We need just 11 people to keep my mother alive.
We are so close to securing her ICU medications, but she is still fighting and every second counts.
We just need 11 people to donate $25 to close this gap completely please donate now or REBLOG this immediately to help save her life.

Looking back at canon, I definitely would have expected Takanuva to be the cure for the shadow leeches. I can get behind the klakk since there are so many weird Rahi and it was a Rahi that caused it, anyway, but I would have loved to see Takanuva in his twilight state realizing that he could restore the light to the Shadow Matoran and save them. and then realizing he could save himself, too. He just had to turn back towards the light. realizing that there wasn't anything the Makuta could take from him that he couldn't take back. Takanuva reaching his hand out towards somebody in a shadow state to break the hold over them and they just crumple like he's shot them through the chest
The Klakk was certainly... A writing choice. But when you had Twilight Takanuva right there, after canonically venturing to other dimensions and meeting a light-aligned Teridax, it just feels so incorrect to do nothing with him.
Personally, must head-canon Takanuva as the real cure to the shadow leeches, because it just fits so much more with the world they built. I also think that something being a rahi might only depend on it having been made by the brotherhood of Makuta, so it starts to get really strange to think that the Makuta made, either intentionally or not, their one true bane in the form of this ugly thing;
Behold! what would to day be a disappointing GWP, this is the official model for the Klakk.
Building off this, what if the cure for the Shadow Leeches wasn't even Takanuva himself, but rather the Mask of Light. The Teridax claimed the Mask of Shadows allowed him to see the hidden darkness in everyone, and it stands to reason the Mask of Light could see the light, the good in everyone along with its ability to spread peace and understanding.
Perhaps the story would go that the Shadow Matoran would claim that they have no more light and goodness left in them. But Takanuva uses the Avohkii in a way he never had before and finds that that's not true that you can't full get rid of a person's light. Or at least, you can't forcefully take away all of someone's light, to get rid of it completely would have to be that person's choice.
In that way, the effects of the Shadow Leech become a metaphor for forced trauma bringing out the darkest parts of people, and the empathy of Takanuva and the power of the Mask of Light being a metaphor for emotional healing. This is even thematically supported in canon, Takanuva, while almost losing himself to rage, claims that he is what they made him.
And perhaps most ironically, the fact that Takanuva is now half-light, half-shadow is what gives him the empathy to see this, but only if he can make peace with himself about his own dark-side that comes out. We could even go the route of having each cure be very personal for each Shadow Matoran, finding their personal light in personal ways.
And maybe this method of curing doesn't happen right away, but rather it begins the process and the full healing happens over time later. But it opens the Shadow Matoran up enough to at least that they'll still leave with the other Av-Matoran before the energy storms hit.
Also on another note, the Klakk (which I personally enjoyed btw, but I understand its not everyone's taste) was made by Mutran in story. Don't know the human that designed it irl tho
As far as I can tell, I don't think even the Matoran get paid for their main jobs. Sometimes they earn money from side hustles, but there's actually no evidence that wages even exist on Metru Nui. Probably related to the fact that not showing up to work is a minor crime.
Also, Lhikan's studio is still living it up compared to the Toa Mata. As far as we can tell, they didn't even have houses in the Koro, and the evidence is that they just camped in the wilderness outside their villages
Not only is this hilarious and I'm integrating it into my headcanon, I'm gonna take it further: after the Toa find out, they still decide to live in the woods and just give their houses to the Turaga.
And weirdly enough, there's actually slight evidence of this. In MNOG, we see the Turaga's houses, and they're pretty regular if slightly larger than average Matoran houses.
But then in MNOG II, after the Koro are rebuilt, the Turaga all suddenly have these MASSIVE houses with weirdly high ceilings.
Those are Toa houses, and they just let the Turaga just move in

No idea if I just lack media literacy with the tadc ending or if I blinked and missed a whole bunch, but that ending was like... confusing.
They didn't explore how Jax abstracted, but they did like a beautiful job exploring him after abstracting, but then that's it. A flash bang that just spawned in, him exploding into light, then "well worth through this together!" As they put him in a tent. What the fuck happened there 😭
The part with Cain was nice, but why did we not explore how he isn't deleted and just exiled? And what was him letting go of that blue orb in him which I presume is Abel? Like how did that benefit the story other than making him stable???
And then the actual ending. 10 second explanation of their life outside the circus. I'm like so confused, aren't they all hooked up to machines or something? Did Cain just download their subconscious/what he perceives them as from their social media post/articles and put it into his program? Damn I think that's actually what he did. He just made personas of each person meaning none of them are actually alive or real, just zeros and ones.
But what about the company?? What even are abstractions? IM LIKE SO CONFUSED.
Tldr: tadc ending is confusing me, someone explain it to me like I'm a child
In the circus, they are "mind files". Each of them at some point explored the abandoned building where C&A made the program and put the headset on. The implication is that the headset scanned their brain, made a copy of their minds, and the version of them in the circus is that copy, while the real version of themselves probably didn't notice anything, took the headset off and kept moving on with their life. They aren't hooked up to machines. Caine, while in the void after being "deleted", found a very brief passing wifi signal and used it to find out about them in the real world. The wifi signal passed, so they won't be able to access it regularly.
Caine letting go of the blue orb was letting go of "Abel", the improved generative AI he absorbed that gave him additional power. Letting go didn't make him stable, but rather it symbolized him letting go of his need for control and letting go of his fear of abandonment. Now he can't force the circus people to do the things he wants the way he used to, he's not as powerful anymore.
With Jax, the point was less how she abstracted, but rather why, which was self imposed isolation. Abstraction still seems to be what happens when they reach a point of no return in despair, to the point their sense of self deteriorates. I'm guessing its as if their mind file has been corrupted when their psyche is pushed too far
Beyond the necessary inclusion of the original 1984-1995 Dragon Ball manga, "canon" is whatever you want. The "whatever Toriyama worked on" criteria doesn't really work, because he's had at least a small hand in the conception and story of basically everything.
Nowadays, people act like Super is somehow the "oNe TrUe CaNoN" continuation and all that matters anymore, even though there's two separate versions of Super that can't even jive with each other. What's more, that same "Super is everything" crowd also can't even decide which of those two versions is the more important or "canon-est" one — a few years back you'd more likely see claims that it's the anime, since it was the original product and the manga simply served to promote it, but now you'll see more claims that it's the manga, just because it's the only version left.
Which should all go to show just how much of a ridiculous and self-contradictory mess this whole topic is, and why any given person is better off just not buying into it. Just take the original manga as your starting point and go in whatever direction you prefer from there.
The concept of canon is actually really important when doing critical analysis, part of which depends on understanding the choices being made, what they represent from a creative perspective, and what they lend to the story. It's important to be able to identify what was part of the creator's original vision, what the creator came up with years later and bolted on after the fact, what was added by other creatives, what was interpreted by other creatives, etc.
To draw a fairly extreme example, let's talk about Bulma's ki-sensing abilities.
In a filler arc of the Z anime, Captain Ginyu takes control of Bulma's body and rides a motorcycle over to spectate on Goku and Frieza's fight - While also seeking to take over a stronger body.
During the American dub, Ginyu's inner monologue celebrates that being in Bulma's body has granted him the ability to sense ki.
Ginyu: This is strange! In this body, I can clearly sense the intensity of each of their power levels!
However, much later in the series, we have Vegeta and Trunks fighting Cell. Bulma needs Piccolo and Tenshinhan to explain to her what's going on.
Well, that's a little strange, isn't it? Why would Bulma need Piccolo to explain what's going on to her? Why can't she just use her own ki-sensing and figure it out for herself?
Is this a plot hole?
Well. No. Obviously not. The reason Bulma can't use her own ki-sensing is because Bulma can't sense ki. That was a line from a localized dub of a filler arc of an adaptation of the original source material. It's three stages removed from original canon. Obviously it has no bearing on the core plot of Dragon Ball, which was written long before it even existed.
With regard to Dragon Ball Super, things are... dicey there. The way Super works is that both and neither are the true canon. Super was created by way of Akira Toriyama writing out a story outline for what he wanted, then separately delivering those notes to Toei Animation and to mangaka Toyotarou, each of whom fleshed out those notes into a complete story by applying their own creative vision.
So it's a weird situation where there isn't really a true canon to Super because both versions of the story are separate creators' adaptational interpretation of the same outline. The Super anime, of course, was made by the studio that made the Z anime so it borrows a lot of elements that Toei created for their version of Dragon Ball. The manga version does not, but it does feel subtly off because Toyotarou's interpretations of the characters don't always mesh well with the original story.
I'm working on a video that compiles every single piece of foreshadowing for the Mata Nui Robot, and let me tell you, it is STAGGERING how much foreshadowing is baked into the story.
I am willing to say with confidence that Bionicle may have the most foreshadowing for a twist reveal in the history of fiction, and I'm not being hyperbolic. Genuine Peak Fiction(tm) in that regard

i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
Last year JK Rowling personally funded a group called Sex Matters to amend UK law so that trans women *overnight* went from legally women to legally men. This has resulted in mass exclusion of the trans community from numerous organizations, along with ongoing violent assaults on both trans and cis women alike.
With the new Harry Potter series she will be making a reported $20 million per-season renewal + other performance dependent royalties. She has been open across multiple interviews regarding her intentions to use said funds to push forth even more trans targeted legislation in the years to come.
This isn’t a “she gets paid no matter what” situation. The more eyeballs on this show the more money she has to actively harm vulnerable communities. By engaging with it you are directly supporting this and otherwise making a conscious choice to consume HP over doing the literal very least possible to not destroy the lives of trans people across the world.
If my stating the objective facts above upsets you then feel free to unfriend and move along. Your nostalgia-goggles feelings for a tired, problematic franchise mean nothing to me compared to the welfare of my trans friends and loved ones."
If you care more about badly written children's books and imaginary wizards more than you do about real people in the real world do it far the fuck away from me.
Don't try to be in my life.
In fact, you are cordially invited to eat shit and die.

Were the Turaga Right to Lie about Metru Nui? (Video)
New deep dive up on my channel, check it out if you're interested!
So the Turaga get clowned on a lot for their decision to keep Metru Nui and their past as Toa from the Matoran and Toa Mata, and to a degree rightfully so. The kept their people in the dark about literally their entire history, and kept relevant secrets from the Toa that could've saved them a lot of trouble.
But if I'm being honest, I'm a bit a of Turaga apologist, because I have a hard time believing I would've done anything differently. They had multiple reasons for keeping things secret, both practical and personal.
The Matoran had their memories wiped, and they had to build a new civilization in the wilderness while also constantly under siege. Telling them about a paradise home they had no way to return to might've been cruel.
From the way the Turaga talk, it almost seems like their original plan was to tell the truth once the Toa Mata came to awaken the Great Spirit. But the Turaga clearly don't tell them then, and there are still good reasons. For one, the villages are still under siege and don't even fully trust each other, and the Toa have yet to prove themselves trustworthy with that kind of knowledge, especially since they also had their memories wiped and had to be brought up to date about the situation on the island.
There's an argument that they should've told the Toa Mata just before they went to face Makuta the first time, especially since Makuta knew all the truth and could use that against them. Plus, it was entirely possible the Toa could've captured him without letting him escape, and the Matoran could've returned right then. But the problem is in canon, it took the Turaga nearly 2 weeks to tell all the tales of Metru Nui, and there really wasn't much time to do that in the active battles happening.
The best time probably would've been right after the defeat of the Bohrok-Kal, but they were also still repairing the villages and recovering from the Bohrok War. And from a certain point of view, that was when they planned to tell them. They originally resolved to tell the truth after the Kohlii Tournament, but then the whole Mask of Light thing happened and they had to deal with that.
The secrets massively damaged the previous unshakable trust the Matoran had with their Turaga. The Matoran still clearly admired them, arguably even more so after learning what they went through. But there was also a new deep resentment, shown when Jaller became furious that the Turaga were keeping secrets again. And all the Matoran clearly felt this way, since they all joined a city wide strike until the Turaga told the truth.
The burden of secrecy also makes me wonder why Nuju thought it was worth it to keep up the need for a translator, knowing that Matoro would then be privy to the truth but forbidden to tell anyone. Intentionally putting Matoro in that position was almost cruel, and Nuju himself directly acknowledges that at points. And I find that it makes Nuju a little more interesting, that he did this thing that he himself thought wasn't completely right, though clearly he thought it was important. Adds nice nuance and depth to him.
Ultimately, the story doesn't give us a clear cut answer as to whether or not what they did was the right thing to do. They gave us plenty of deeply understandable reasons why they did it, but the story also makes it very clear that their lies had very real, negative, lasting consequences that they, the Matoran, and the Toa Nuva had to deal with. Its an open ended question, and I really enjoy that.
