There's not really much more to talk about than I already did, sorry. We found some mostly disintegrated bone fragments, one oddly shaped pottery piece, some charcoal and maybe some tiny flecks of Flintstone. That was basically it, and since this is a rescue-dig, it's unlikely that that grave in particular will receive extra study, other than what we can learn from the dirt-samples we collected from the top and bottom layers of soil.
(Also the entire thing is dug out now and has been covered with topsoil again, so it's gone forever)
It kind of fucks with me that somebody killed ötzi the iceman because ötzi himself is like whatever but the silent presence of human hands that drew back the string of the bow that shot the arrow that killed him is crazy. the idea that there were various people involved in that situation and while one of them has had his last hours painstakingly reconstructed and studied to no end, the others now only exist insofar that an arrowhead had to get into his shoulder somehow. imagine killing someone and then suddenly your entire existence is only a vague shadow implied by the fact that you killed them. much to consider

While I'm an English archaeologist and I'm most familiar with the South/Midlands, I've come across some ~weird~ Bronze Age child burials before, so in my experience weird does tend to = Bronze Age
What was the flint like? Was is debitage or were there any actual worked pieces? Also, what did the pot look like? Do you have a photo (obviously without the human remains in)
One of my colleagues showed me a Romano-British skull of a guy who'd had his head completely chopped in half vertically by a sword and then an Iron Age gold coin, which was really cool
The bones were not in the pot, it was a little burnt pit/dirtspot with some bones scattered, a piece of strange ceramic, and some very small flecks of flint, like the leftover pieces you get when you make a flint tool. So no actual tools, unfortunately!
Would love to show, but since it's an ongoing excavation I'm not sure I'm allowed to post anything online (at least not on Tumblr, which is such a public website)

tell us about the cool pottery from the child grave?
We thought initially that it was a little miniature cup/vase turned on its head, but when we dug it out it was actually some weird, loopy piece that didn't look like anything I've seen before? It had pretty significant heatdamage too so it was definitely burnt on purpose with the bones. We also had a whole bunch of tiny Flintstone shards which we haven't seen any of at this site before because it's an iron age settlement, so the flint might hint at this being a bronze age burial?
People love to ask if I'm enjoying my new job as a field archaeologist but then when I say "Yes very much, I excavated a children's grave today!" They have the audacity to look at me like I'm the weird one
