i just really don’t understand how THIS:

can or should be interpreted any different from THIS:

we’ve literally NEVER seen qrow lovingly teasing another dude with that kinda smug look on his face before. and not to mention the fuckin uhhhhhhh CONFIRMED PARALLEL between the v4 waitress and clover in chapter 3.

this whole scene would be unnecessary if it didn’t have a deeper meaning! they literally didn’t have to include it! if you think a 30-second-long scene between qrow and some random waitress was inherently romantic/flirty-coded, then the same should be said about this very similar scene, especially when qrow and clover’s relationship is already so strongly established and continues to grow! it’s clearly a part of the main story!

…Until Watts shut them off and it started snowing. And I was just. Oh. Oh. It’s not supposed to snow in Mantle (or Atlas city) anymore—it hasn’t for years. The snow is supposed to melt before it reaches the ground because the fire dust heating units let them keep the ambient temperature of the city a little above freezing. That kid was too young to know that snow in Mantle means something has gone very very wrong and people are about to start dying.
