from Abdaljawad Omar's 'The Meaning of Love In Politics—a response from a conscious (non-nomadic) Pariah', July 23 2025, dabartis
from ‘Poetry begins at stop: Etel Adnan and Arabic’ by Huda Fakhreddine, 26 April 2025
I'll be reading from Yes, I Am A Destroyer this Sunday 7 December at 5pm GMT. You can register here.
Posting about such things feels more grotesque than usual at this point in history, and still, I wanted to let you know, especially those of you stateside, that my 2020 novel(ish), Yes, I Am A Destroyer, has been published across the pond by the excellent Litmus Press who have produced a stunning book with the brilliant art of Hazem Harb gracing its cover.Â
The 2020 edition remains available to buy in the UK and Europe from its original publisher, MA BIBLIOTHÈQUE, and this new version is now available in the rest of the world.Â
I conceived of the book as fiction, and maintain that that’s what it is, although great swathes of it seem to assume the guise of poetry – the sentence, not to mention its subject, can be far too sure of itself can’t it? I’m not sure there’s any point trying to say what it’s ‘about’ - beyond a carrier bag for the first 37 years of my life and an experiment in undoing the ‘I’ - but I hope some of you will read it.Â
I hope more though that some of you will materiality support Palestinian life in Gaza by donating money to the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (@apnorg on Instagram) a green resistance movement working towards reviving cars for farmland by building food sovereignty.

Voice of the Oracle: Surrealist Game, April 1942
Aimé Césaire, Suzanne Césaire et al.
Do you want to hear the great voice of the oracle? The explosive voice of life?
Sit down around a table. Take a sheet of paper and boldly write down what it is you want to know. Fold the paper, pass it to your neighbor who will write an answer without reading your question. And so on.
Open the paper and read. You will hear echoes that come from very far away, farther than yourself; and you will finally have the most beautiful conversation you have ever had with anyone and with yourself.
Take a look.
from Black, Brown, & Beige Surrealist Writings from Africa and the Diaspora (eds. Franklin Rosemont and Robin D. G. Kelley)
I'm reading tonight, online, with the Arab American National Museum.
7pm ET / midnight GMT
Free, with a suggested donation to Pal Legal and PCRF.
RSVP.
